5  Economy / Trading Discussion / Localbitcoins - Premium Rates (Fair/Unfair) on: August 02, 2014, 07:53:01 AM
Hello,

I have done a few trades in my time and one recent trade I did, let's face it, I did not pay too much attention to it. For what I was paying, I was realistically getting half of what I paid for - I paid $336 USD to get $170 USD back in the form of BTC.

This was ultimately my own fault for not even calculating costs, though, do you think it's really fair overall for users to take advantage of Localbitcoins % rates to make their own percentages for selling their coins?

The dealer I dealt with recently noted he made a loss on buying his coins and used Localbitcoins to cover his loss in the Bitcoins that he had purchased?

I've dealt in my own business before and we never passed our losses on to our consumers, I don't see it fair how they can apply this here and make high profits off these new rates they set themselves.

Again, I understand I made a wrong pre-judgement here of purchasing without paying attention to what I was buying, though do you see it fair or unfair that people can set such ridiculous rates?

Hey!

I bought BTC with Neteller on Localbitcoins, I sent $336USD which was $373AUD - I was sent 0.29468BTC. When I check the cost of the BTC it is only $172USD in value, does it make sense?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Neteller Banning BTC (eCurrency) on: July 31, 2014, 02:06:33 AM
Hey!

Came across this just now, it seems that Neteller is Banning BTC whilst others are embracing it. Personally, I think Neteller has started banning way before 2 days ago, they are really hard to deal with and they refuse to speak about your account when they close your account.

You can get away with this by adding comments that don't stipulate anything relating to BTC or Work since Neteller doesn't allow payments over it's service when it comes to work related activities.

Quote
As the crypto-currency Bitcoin continues to weather controversy, entrepreneurs are hoping that the use of Bitcoins will gain a foothold in the online gambling industry. On the heels of  a scandal that continues to shake the struggling digital currency, one important e-commerce company has banned Bitcoin, and a U.S. court has stopped the sale of a major Bitcoin trading site. Though shaken, enthusiasts and business people still hope that Bitcoin can find a home in online gaming.

After the February implosion of Bitcoin trading site Mt. Gox, the crypto-currency seemed on the edge of failure. Bitcoin was created in 2009, and by December of 2013, it was worth a record $1,151. In February, Mt.Gox, a website created to sell “Magic: The Gathering” cards that had become one of the largest Bitcoin traders, reported that the trading of Bitcoins had been hacked, and shut down all trading. After that, the value of Bitcoins was more than halved. On February 25, the day that Mt.Gox announced they would halt all transactions, Bitcoins were worth around $534. Their lowest value since the collapse of Mt.Gox was around $360 in April. Today, Bitcoins are worth around $598. Now, an auction of Mt.Gox-related site Bitcoins.com that was scheduled for Thursday has been postponed.

Bitcoins.com, a website owned by Mt.Gox’s former CEO Mark Karpeles, was scheduled to have its domain name auctioned off by Heritage Auctions. The court order halting the sale comes from a lawsuit in which Mt.Gox is involved against former partner company, CoinLab. CoinLab asserts that Mt.Gox still owes money to the company, and by selling this domain name and other assets, Mt.Gox will avoid giving CoinLab the money that is owed. Marsha Pechman, a U.S. federal judge, agrees, and granted an order delaying the auction for 14 days.

Along with the hit that Bitcoin’s popularity took in the wake of the MT.Gox scandal, it has recently been banned by influential internet payment service NETELLER. Located on the Isle of Man, NETELLER is one of the leaders in digital currency transactions, specifically when it comes to the online gambling industry. The Isle of Man itself has become a center for Bitcoin commerce, and while other companies have made no moves to ban Bitcoin, and in fact are embracing it, the island is making moves to regulate the digital currency so the island can capitalize on it.

Though NETELLER has moved to ban Bitcoin, other companies have taken to the digital currency. In the United States, the World Poker Network has joined with Betcoin Poker to create a Bitcoin-dedicated poker room for players. Players deposit Bitcoins into the site’s system, converting them into U.S. dollars immediately and having no trouble withdrawing funds when ready. This could either become a huge problem or a nice boon for the Bitcoin industry. As Bitcoin users lose places to make their digital transactions, they could turn to these poker sites as a method of just changing their Bitcoins to dollars and cashing out of the system. Conversely, this could also bring people into Bitcoins, providing an entry point through these poker sites. Of course, there is a chance that Bitcoin could prove too popular, and paint itself into the corner of being only for gambling, failing to reach the mainstream at all.

As commerce turns increasingly online, the troubled digital currency Bitcoin rests its hopes on online gambling. While the online gambling industry may be Bitcoin’s savior, there is also the chance for online gambling to force Bitcoin into a niche, keeping it out of the mainstream.

9  Economy / Currency exchange / [WTB] BTC in AUD - Neteller (WU Possible) on: July 29, 2014, 12:37:49 PM
Hey!

I want to buy BTC in AUD since my Neteller account is in this currency ONLY. I don't usually do Western Union since the charge of $15 applies to each transfer where as my Neteller payment is or charges nothing to send.

Silly how you can transfer WU in the USA at a $1 but $14-15 here in the AUS.

If anyone can help let me know, otherwise I will look at CoinJar and/or Localbitcoins!

Thanks!!
10  Economy / Currency exchange / WTB $300 worth of BTC (Neteller/Skrill) on: July 15, 2014, 05:21:51 AM
Hello,

I want to buy $300 worth of BTC - My currency on Neteller and Skrill is (AUD). Both, Neteller and Skrill are verified accounts and I get paid in to the Neteller one more frequent.

I would prefer you send the BTC first - I don't have any negative publicity on this forum and have been around for a while, I know how the games work and how people rip/con and deceive people daily. The last time I traded here I went first and got deceived and lost $400 AUD.

It is time for the reverse, if anyone here can be respectable and has time for a proper deal let me know.
11  Economy / Currency exchange / [Skrill] BTC required on: June 23, 2014, 05:28:09 AM
Hey!

I need $50 worth of BTC via Skrill if that is possible?

I usually use 'Local Bitcoins' since there are less scammers on there as I have noticed, but I was after something relatively quick if anyone can assist.

I require:
*Reputation
*No new members
*No private messages
*No solicitation of other methods
*No websites

Be fair, be square, scammers get reported.
12  Economy / Currency exchange / Need to buy BTC - Fast! on: March 27, 2014, 07:21:31 AM
Hello,

I have $100 - I don't live in USA so can't use MoneyPak or those other services.

I work with PayPal, I need to buy a BTC and need it transferred immediately. I don't trust a lot of people since the last transaction the guy stole $500 from me and claimed he worked for me when he never did.

I don't charge-back unless you SCAM me, it is that simple.

Who can help?

P.S - Please don't waste your breath on telling me people won't do it, don't need to hear those types of replies. People willing ONLY.

Well,

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1x804j/yep_i_did_it_officially/

I posted it here and I am so disappointed in myself for letting this happen. $900 pays off my Credit Card & I let it down by a silly .dat file that just did not save when it was supposed to.

Ruined my day.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / Where do you sell or trade your bitcoins? on: November 28, 2013, 10:56:26 PM
Hey,

I have been wondering, I have seen a lot of SCAMS and people ripping others off to gain the power of a bitcoin. I have just 1 BTC and I want to later sell it, I am not sure where I would sell it and I am not sure to whom (with guarantee) that I would get my money for it, are there safe withdraw options around that people have used that are genuine and will give you your money that you deserve?  Undecided

Please do advise on any you've used and think are good contenders.
15  Economy / Service Discussion / CoinJar on: November 24, 2013, 11:14:36 PM

16  Other / Off-topic / Last time you saw your niece or nephew? on: November 16, 2013, 03:36:47 AM
Hey,

When was the last time you saw your niece or nephew, for me it was back in February this year, my brother had brought his daughter over from California, she is 1 years old and was born in July - I have not seen her since Sad

My brother and his partner have agreed together to move to Australia to raise my niece as they feel it would be better for her, but as I live in Australia myself and my niece in the USA it makes it really hard for me to to go visit and see her.

Life goes on though  Cheesy

This user took PayPal payment of $400 and then never provided the BitCoin, refused any communication after sale and claimed he would send BTC immediately after funds, after he had received the funds he claimed he was busy and then never heard from him again.
