2  Other / Meta / About thread locking request on: April 19, 2018, 11:26:50 PM
Is it okay if i report a thread to the moderator just to lock it???

Locking some sufficiently answered threads may help to reduce the spams.

4  Other / Meta / @theymos @admin Why there is no enough action against merit system abusers??? on: April 03, 2018, 06:44:29 PM
There is a separate thread for reporting merit abusers.

Suspected users that are abusing merit 3.0

The thread has been started with good purpose but sadly no action have been taken against 90% of suspected accounts. (at least no red trust) Go and check yourself.
If you take no enough action against merit abusers there is no point of reporting them.

Go check the merit summary of few persons and you will find at least 5 merit abusers in less than a hour.

I have seen bunch of them. But no one can report them every time.

As a example i just found these two.

1. Chachacoin17 has been received 50*3=150 merits in very same day for typical replies. Probably merit buying.

Merit givers/sellers:

chickenado - Hero member - February 09 - 50 merits
thend1949 - Hero member - February 09 - 50 merits
marcuslong - Legendary - February 09 - 50 merits

Check their merit summery. You will find clear evidences of merit selling.

2. Merit sharing/  account farming.

Suspected accounts:
jerry29@
Naitik

I just wanted to say

Merit system abusing is happening in not only small scale but also large scale. Reporting merit abusers is not practical.

Please automate the system to watch over large chunk of merit transactions and merit giving to same person. Then moderators can further investigate and take some action against abusers.
Merit should not be equal to money.

Note

If someone(Maybe a suspected person) give me red trust because of this post please remove it.

5  Economy / Speculation / Bitter truth behind the market crash on: March 29, 2018, 03:35:30 PM
The Crypto market is crashing...  Now BTC= 7400$ & Eth=400$

What happened to BTC?

1.Thousands of people came into the Crypto field and started buying in Dec/Jan. So the market hyped unbelievably.
80% of them have 0  technical knowledge about Cryptocurrencies.
90% of them does not believe in Bitcoin.
20% of them have absolutely no idea what a cryptocurrency is and how the market behaves.
70% of them just wanted some quick profit.

2.Some idiots bought and sold for quick money and dumped the market.
3.Some people got panic and started selling.
4.Whales saw this early and slowly sold part of their holdings. Now they are buying at low prices.

What happened to Eth and Ethereum tokens?

1.BTC going down = Eth going down
2.People with 0 crypto knowledge started investing in ICO's.
3.People with 0 crypto knowledge started doing bounties.
(Those are the spammers in Bitcointalk)
4.That two kind of people started dumping ICO's for quick earnings
5.Scam ICO's and useless ICO's came in to play.
6.Because of the ICO flood, ICO's became less profitable.
7. So some ICO investors lost their faith.
So Eth and most of its tokens crashed.

What happened to Other coins?

BTC going down = Every other coin going down

What will happen next?

1.Whales who sold for higher prices will buy slowly at low prices and will become 1.5* rich.
2.Some people will leave the Crypto market.
3.Believers will HODL.
4.The market will slowly recover.

6  Other / Meta / Developers, please add bookmarking ability for the post and threads on: March 16, 2018, 12:15:48 PM
In different sections, there are so many important threads and replies here.

When reading some useful threads and replies I really feel that I should mark it as very important and should have a quick access to it again.

I think there should be a bookmarking feature in every thread and reply. Every user should have quick access to his or her bookmarks in HOME, HELP, SEARCH.. bar as well.

This feature will be very useful. Any authority who sees this thread please pay their kind attention.
Please give your ideas and suggestion for improving the feature.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why Airdrops??? on: March 14, 2018, 05:18:33 PM
I saw few newbies have asked in Altcoins section "Why airdrops?"
So i post this detailed explanation for all of them here..  Smiley

As far as i know there are few types of Airdrops and few intentions of them.

1. Before ICO Air drops

These are done before launching an ICO.
To get public awareness of the project, get telegram members , get Twitter followers , get likes for the Facebook page etc..

2. After ICO Airdrops  Smiley

Some projects airdrop their unsold tokens to ICO participants without burning them, to avoid decrease the number of total tokens. ( ex: SP8DE )
Some projects do this after a successful ICO in specific exchanges to attract traders. (Arckblock did this)

3. Totally Airdrop coins.  Cheesy

Some projects doesn't conduct a ICO instead they Airdrop the coin among general public or bitcointalk user.
Actually this is a very good strategy instead of ICO's because ICO's are hrdly getting successful these days and marketing a ICO is very expensive.
Twist coin( Twist.network ) is this type of coin and it is pretty amazing, now the price is 0.1$. They airdropped 85% of total tokens.

4. When doing a hard fork on existing block chain.  Roll Eyes

When a hard fork is done forked coin is Airdropped among original coin holder.
As a example when a hard fork of Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, gave current Bitcoin holders an equivalent amount of Bitcoin Cash.
MoneroV is upcoming airdrop and Hardfork in Monero block chain. Airdrop ratio 1 Monero : 10 MoneroV

5. Referral programs.  Angry

Those are very bad in my opinion. Some projects use give very little amount of coin to airdrop registrants an if they refer someone give more coins.
These are very aggressively used to pump up telegram members.
Ex;-Current media network became the largest telegram group using 4M$ airdrop and a referral program.

6. Scams  Angry

Most of the airdrops are scams for getting telegram users and email addresses. Don't do those airdrops.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to trade any Ethereum based (ERC20) token not listed in any famous exchange on: March 14, 2018, 02:50:52 PM
Actually this is my reply to a question asked in altcoin section.
I thought it would be helpful to most of the newbies who are doing bounties  Smiley Smiley Smiley
So i post it here.

Decentralized exchanges let you trade most of the coins(tokens).  Smiley

IF the token is listed in a decentralized exchange use following sites.

1. IDEX - https://idex.market/
2. Etherdelta - https://etherdelta.com/

Using Etherdelta is not advised because of it had lot of security issues and down times in recent history.
Instead use forkdelta. Actually it is forked from etherdelta.

3. Forkdelta - https://forkdelta.github.io/

In some cases, some tokens are not in any exchange including decentralized ones. (Ex: Pindex-PDI is not yet in any exchange sadly)
Then we can use the smart contract of the token to trade. This method is very useful to buy some tokens very cheaply before they come to the market.   Cool

The procedure - How to trade any token using the smart contract address

1. Go to Ethplorer.io
2. Search the token you want to trade in search bar.
3. Get the smart contract address of it. (Contract address)
4. Go to the url - https://forkdelta.github.io/#!/trade/<contact address here>-ETH
5. Refresh page again.
6. Now you will find the order book. Place sell order or sell to a order already there. If you want to buy place a buy order.

Happy trading!   Smiley Smiley Smiley

9  Other / Meta / Introduce a "Up vote & Down vote" system instead of the "Merit" system on: March 13, 2018, 01:48:47 PM
Merit system was introduced with a good purpose; For get rid of spammers and account farmers.

The intention is noble but i think the merit system is not as good as it should be.
I present following facts to support my argument and correct me if i am wrong.  Smiley

My argument

1.Most of the scammers who adopted earlier in to the Bitcointalk forum now has higher ranked accounts. They are not being punished by the merit system. Now may be they use their higher rank accounts to farm more accounts by giving smerits.

2.I have seen lot of useless posts of higher rank members, which have been received lot of merits. (I think all of you must have noticed that.) .
Most of the people who have smerits give their smerits only to higher rank members (with the hope of getting merits back) without considering the quality of the post.
If you don't believe, Please check past posts of members with many merit points, you will find some of them have received hundreds of merits without sending at least one constructive post.

3. I've seen many very good posts by Jr.members which haven't received merits. Most people doesn't care about newbies and Jr.members because they have no smerits to give merit back.
4. Even if someone post a very good post or a reply if it is not get noticed by a person who gives merits by considering the qulity of the post, the post is not rewarded. ( Some forums are not get noticed well)
5. There are telegram groups where people share their merits. If you don't believe please do some research.
6. 2 merits = 1 smerit rule is fundamentally slowing down the merit system.

Some people present following arguments, which i couldn't accept, to support merit system.

1. Ranking up is not essential because Bitcointalk is not for doing signature campaigns. (So then why 80% of members do it??? The funny fact is some people tell that while doing a signature campaign.  Cheesy)
2. Post more posts then you will be rewarded. ( Most of us cannot post more than 3 good posts per day because we cannot be here all day.  Undecided)

My solution

1.Replacing the merit system with "Up vote & Down vote" or "Positive & Negative karma" system like in Reddit and Steemit will be the most wise decision.
2.Every member(or higher than jr.member) should be allowed to up vote or down vote a post or a reply.
3.Ranking up should be based on total votes (up votes - down votes = total votes) a member received.
3.Up voters and down voters should be visible to every one.
4.People who up voting useless posts (By spammers) should be noticed.
5.Number of Total up votes and down votes a person have per day should be limited.
6.Voting shouldn't be allowed in bounty threads.

Advantages

1. Every one can participate.
2. Even if a spammer or a account farmer up voted a post other people can down vote it. So total votes will be based on majority. Spamming will be harder.
3. Very fair. Every person can get up votes by posting good posts and get their rank up.
4. Spammers can be identified.
5. Every good post will be rewarded.

Note

Please correct me where i am wrong.  Smiley

Edited

Looks like most of the people don't like the idea. Some of the experienced members have pointed out faults in the proposed system. Thanks to them.  Smiley

I just wanted to create a meaningful discussion because i felt the current system is not doing well.
It seems majority of active members and experienced members like the merit system.  Smiley

Thank you all for feedback.  Smiley
