21  Economy / Trading Discussion / How does Mt. gox sell the BTC's they've earned? on: August 29, 2011, 06:12:53 PM
Don't they earn btc's from every trade as well as USD?

Are they the huge 25k dumps we always see or do they do it slowly in the background?

Just wondering.

23  Economy / Marketplace / Smoky Mountain mining now offering daily dividends to GLBSE investors. on: August 28, 2011, 12:45:18 AM
I've  been thinking about this and i want to give it a try.  With the crazy price changes, I'd rather investors have the bitcoins ASAP so they can decide what to do with them.  I see no reason to hold on to all of them really.  It will work like this.  I will hold 44% of the bitcoins created everyday and will pay all shareholders daily 56% of what I mine.  After the middle of the month (when my electricity bill comes in) I will use the 44% to pay for electricity, anything left over will also be payed to the shareholders as a mid month bonus.  Simple, easy.  The only problem I could have is that bitcoins would take a death dive (isn't that all of our problems?)  If that happens the experiment is over and I'll go back on a monthly payout.

My first dividend payout will be Monday morning around midnight Eastern Daylight time.  It will be bigger than the daily because it will encompass the past 5 days of mining.

Hope you like this idea.  My ticker is SMM.

I'm open to questions and concerns.

I'm in a rush but saw 2 bitocin headlines in the lastest news on marketwatch.  Don't seem very positive.  But news is news.

Edit: watched the video and the guy said your bitcoins are stored in an online bank which is wrong of course.
25  Economy / Marketplace / Smoky Mountain Mining now on GLBSE. on: August 25, 2011, 01:28:38 AM
Now paying dividends daily, see this thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=39781.0

Hello guys,

I have decided to put my mining operation up on the GLBSE and see what happens.  I am currently mining about 2.5 gh/s and making about 1.31 bitcoins a day.  I plan to expand with maybe 2 more rigs. I don't want to expand past what I can handle. (as i have seen with some companies).

Even though mining is in the name most of the focus will be investing into other up and coming startups on GLBSE.  After costs, 30% of all income will go directly into investing back onto the GLBSE.  The rest of the income (from dividends and mining) will be given to the shareholders once a month.

Dividends should be going out somewhere around the middle of the month since thats when my electric bill comes in.

I have a spreadsheet that I will be updating daily to see whats going on, which can be found here. (still working it out)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvdHbho4OHt9dFVTVHFUNFVvNFZyc2E5eERPeFd2Y1E&hl=en_US#gid=0

I also have a blog that I will be updating. (under construction)

http://smokymountainmining.com

I also plan on making another blog that will research companies on the GLBSE so others wont have to.  Hopefully this can bring more people into this up and coming exchange. Revenue will come from advertising

The cost of the rigs i have now will not come out of the money raised from shares, I'll eat those costs just so things can get up and running.

Just a disclaimer so everyone knows:  Bitcoins are risky, investing in the glbse can be more risky, and investing into a company that invests into companies on the GLBSE can be even more risky.  I will do my best to make sure I research before investing.  Please do not invest what you can't afford to lose.  I will be giving my ID scan and proof of address to the GLBSE and will be "thrown to the wolves" <-- (actual quote) if I try to defraud investors.  I think this will be going for anyone that lists in the future.

The IPO is 20,000 shares
51% or 9800 are out on the market at .05 a piece.

Thanks for reading.

Manny posted in the other thread but some may not see it.  Most of the people have introduced themselves already.

Edit: this is just the meet and greet not the actual conference.

31  Economy / Speculation / I'm all in. on: August 12, 2011, 05:08:31 AM
Not that much but I bought 80 bitcoins between 8 and 9 dollars. (thats all in to me)

Reasons.

1.  Most of the hackers probably sold off before fees kicked back in.

2.  I think the price will rise because of the conference.  I think you might think that too, which is another reason why I bought.

3.  I'm crazy and have had a few drinks. (dont listen to anything I type)

I also realize I could be wrong, but I"m going with my gut.  If I lose it all oh well. (you never lose until you sell)

remember kids never invest in something kooky unless you can't afford to lose it all.

32  Economy / Speculation / Quick math question. on: August 11, 2011, 02:39:53 AM
I know this question might seem a bit dumb but how much does the price need to go up on mt. gox before I can sell at a profit with their normal fee.

Say I bought one btc at 10, how much would it have to rise.  6 cents?

*Attention – Due to the uncertainty in the global precious metals markets, we will not be able to accept any additional orders until the global markets re-open in Asia. We expect to be accepting orders around 6:15 pm EST. Sunday August 7th, 2011, following the market open.

Hm which way will the metals go?

39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [IDEA] Mobile Bitcoin Exchange. on: July 29, 2011, 05:39:35 PM
Everyone loves the ice cream man.  What about the Bitcoin Exchange man?! Rolling up and down the streets in his big Van (or small car)with a bitcoin symbol on the side.  He'll buy bitcoins from you or he'll sell them to you all day and night.  Not sure what song he'll play while going down the street yet.  But we'll figure that out.

He sells bitcoin merchandise, he sells other things but only deals in bitcoins of course.

Thoughts?
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Ever have bitcoin nightmares? on: July 29, 2011, 05:27:57 PM
While asleep last night I had my first bitcoin night mare.  I was on a beach in florida at night with my laptop and I had about 200 bitcoins in my wallet  For some reason (dreams dont make sense)  I left my computer and walked off.  While I was gone I realized I forgot my computer on the beach and that I didn't back up my wallet.

When I got back to the Beach it was daytime and it was full of old people.  Each old person on the beach had the same computer bag as me.  I didn't care, I tried going through everyones computer bag to find my bitcoin computer.  Old people were punching me pulling my hair telling me to get lost.  I woke up sweating.  Bitcoin nightmares are scary. Sad
