7  Economy / Computer hardware / Does anybody need PCI-E risers cheap? on: May 13, 2014, 06:57:15 AM
I have quite a few powered and non powered 1x to 16x and 16x to 16x. Let me know.
8  Economy / Computer hardware / Making your own cables. Need supplier sites on: May 13, 2014, 04:40:38 AM
Looking to buy pci-express connectors and pins to make my own cables but most of the sites like frozencpu want like .5-1$ each. There must be some sites to buy these in quantity at reasonable prices. Also, where is the best place to buy different gauge wire? (Home Depot, Lowes, online)? I figured getting the supplies would be the easy part but guess I was wrong. Any advice?
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / What server PSU can be used on 120v? on: May 08, 2014, 11:20:50 PM
I see all these guides for 240v but can't find much for 110v so thinking they don't really exist. Any ideas?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Can't ping my p2pool server on: April 23, 2014, 03:48:30 AM
This is driving me nuts. It works fine but won't return a ping:
doge.is-by.us:22550/static

Ubuntu 12.04 Doge p2pool following these instructions:
http://doges.org/index.php?topic=5586.0

- ran sudo ufw allow xxxx knowing it had nothing to do with it.

Network:
- It is a dedicated server behind a home router. Was also behind unmanaged switch but moved it to the router.
- Computer on same network can ping it.
- Enabled Responding to a Ping on an Internet Port (what is internet port 80 8080??) ping doesn't contain port.
- Put server in DMZ and still same result
- Used port forwarding for 22550 and added others for testing like 23, 80, 8080 with no success.
- Disabled Upnp
- Disable Port Scan and DoS Protection
- Changed NAT filtering to open

At a loss of what else to try. I guess I can connect directly to the cable modem and see what happens. My guess is my ISP is blocking ICMP.

Thanks
11  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / prediction on next diff increase? on: March 23, 2014, 03:23:05 PM
A couple sites appear to be around 15%. I was hoping it would be less and with Antminer S2's hitting the market I don';t think this will change unless people stop hashing with old miners. opinions.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / White flag! the fun is being sucked out of my body. on: March 21, 2014, 04:03:42 AM
I still have some faith but it is low. I got into this because my dork skills could do something 99% of the population couldn't do in building mining rigs that could hash like no others. The thrill, excitement, building, knowledge of clocking up or down (gpu and cpu), endless hours tweaking because I enjoy it and it is all going away. I thought for an instant that my love for hardware would payoff and us tech kings would rise above. The fact is fun is being pulled out of me like a barbed wire being pulled from my mouth to ass. It isn't about the profits but doing something I love and making bank as a result. Doing something most can't even understand how to do. Maybe we made it to easy for them and these rigs that are plug and play just cater to people with money.

This was our thing and you know what I mean. We are the ones watercooling and building rigs that push the limits just because we can. Not to play a game but to push ourselves. Our domain is being taken over by people that know nothing and expect us to get their rig up to spec.

My rant is almost done. Is the solution to not help them with configs and sell our gpus to people thinking of a quick buck when market is crap? We will rise again and Asics will plague our domain whether good or bad.

Before this happens a spark in the market would be great. A coin doing DNA recombination or some shit like that.
13  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / What is your guess on how long the Antminer S1 will be profitable for? on: March 20, 2014, 02:49:34 AM
I figure 13% diff increase would make it profitable till end of December but total profit would be less than 1 btc (.998btc purchase price). I guess the gamble is diff decrease or BTC price increase in that timeframe.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / These pools are criminal. Lets get them!! on: March 18, 2014, 04:03:29 AM
We need to do better. These criminals deserve far worse . This is one still operating:

15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Easy way to cool Antminer S1 on: March 18, 2014, 03:06:17 AM
A bit overkill but works great and easy and it appears the latest S1's with this fan only use 415watts (killAWatt at wall). I used PSU to power the delta so you see stock fan below.

1. buy this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835213001

2. reverse stock fan to blow out (push pull or just remove)

3. Install delta fan

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ASUS 280x coming back from RMA. Sell it or mine? on: March 18, 2014, 02:39:41 AM
I have 7 cards running now all asus dc2t or whatever it is called. This card would need to go on my open air rig with 5 cards already. Since alt coin market is down it may be a waste to mine with it since ROI is like 110 days ($330 sell price: mining $3 dollars/day after electricity).

BTW they are sending brand new card to replace it.

Anyone in same boat?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 10 Gridseeds = 195 days ROI on: March 11, 2014, 02:45:42 PM
This is based on 3300 khash, $2500 inital cost and using coinwarz at $13/day since you are not going to get the top amount every day. This doesn't even account for down time and is an optimistic guess assuming market doesn't change.

With that said the alt coin market is going through a rough spot and I am just going to hope some miners give up so I can get cheap equipment.
18  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Can I run a couple USB miners on same rig that is scrypt mining? on: February 26, 2014, 07:14:27 PM
Normally I set cgminer to device 0-2 for my 280x's but not sure how I would tell it the device # for the USB stick. Anyone done this? More for fun than anything else.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Great Doge site and for other coins! on: February 16, 2014, 02:54:04 PM
Seriously I just hit a block and we need more people:
http://doge.dedicatedpool.com

- The IRC is great
- They update on new coins and tell you whats up
- Backup servers (cluster)
- Sick of mining fast-pool

I have no incentive to say this but support people that don't have hidden agenda. I will hash away last payout was big.
