How do I get some merits? And what is the advantage of a bitcointalk community member being merited?

I feel Reddit campaigns are too challenging and most times annoying. There are so many trials and most times bounty hunters don't receive proper rewards for their efforts. Also there are too many people on reddit that are in the business of down voting posts.

If I become a junior member and want to wear a signature, how do i avoid getting banned?
