1  Bitcoin / Hardware / My Pangolin Nightmare now halved but persists... on: December 10, 2019, 12:32:00 AM
I'm done with Pangolin and Microbit...Absolute Junk and ridiculous return costs and lousy follow up service..My Units have used bodies that still have glue from removed stickers on them and other obvious signs of use and wear.
My nightmare continues and now just more money out the window for ZERO BTC mining done.
Oh and the ONLY way to get tech help is through Telegram and give them remote access to your comp via TEAMVIEW

2 MAJOR security risks not to mention you must download and install and learn how to use both..And co-ordinate a time to be online with someone 12 times zones away during THEIR working hours.

Even then they will only tell you what you already know...THE UNIT IS DEAD and you must return the WHOLE device.

Lousy software/firmware...
They advertise low power setting...there is even an option in the software...BUT it's NOT enabled/supported...WTF that was the ONLY REASON I BOUGHT FUCKERS was for the high efficiency
The units that do work have no fan control  just always 100% regardless of chip temps...and they have lousy cooling they get HOT fast and are VERY LOUD.
They arrived a week late

Any chance for profit has been wiped out completely....I will never even come close to earning enough to pay for the defective/returned unit

They are worse than Bitmain....

UPDATE JAN 23rd
So I have got back ONE unit and it is working to spec..And they did pay for the shipping cost to return the unit to them. (reimbursed me actually)
However the second unit was diagnosed as having a connector board problem.
They did not offer to send one immediately...In fact the wanted me to BUY one !!!...for a unit that arrived DOA !!
No they included a new board with the repaired unit...Well it came and I very CAREFULLY replaced it and confirmed the original did have damaged/missing pins.
But there is STILL one dead hash board EXACTLY as before....
They have not responded to emails and I am still waiting to hear from Mr Yan on Telegram IF and or HOW they plan to address the problem..
2  Bitcoin / Mining support / Pangolin M20 DOA on: December 04, 2019, 10:51:46 AM
So my 2x M20 just arrived ( late )....but worse news is both have problems.
One unit is DOA reports chip errors and will not hash at all.
The other does hash to spec of 45th... but will not accept low power settings..Which is the only reason I bought the damn thing was for the high efficiency.

And Pangolin have not responded to my ticket for several days...
NOT IMPRESSED...
3  Economy / Computer hardware / Last chance for 25 S9's at Crytoboreas on: November 24, 2019, 02:33:47 PM
So I have 25 S9's currently being hosted at Crytoboreas in Labrador for sale.
If I can't sell them this week they will be returning to Ottawa and we don't want that..

All but one are still performing well with latest Bitmain firmware with reduced power usage but full hash rate.

The oldest (8 units) are from Oct 17 batch The rest are from Jan 2018.

3x 14Th
21x 13.5Th
1x 4.5 TH (One blade only)

All PSU's are APW3+ ....1600W

I highly recommend Crytoboreas....and you will not find a cheaper place to host in Can or U.S.

Looking for approx U.S. $75 for each set of S9 + PSU. (CDN $100) OR BEST OFFER

I also have 2x Dragonmint B52's for sale in Ottawa (Blake2b)
And 2x Dragonmint B29's in Ottawa (Decred)
And 2x Inno T3+ 57Th (Just arrived selling at cost which was $CDN 3250 each)

4  Economy / Computer hardware / Small farm for sale Quebec on: September 20, 2018, 09:59:00 PM
So yes I'm looking to  sell my 350Th farm located In Quebec
I have 27 S9's all 1 year to 6 months old...I am original owner of all
(23x 13.5Th 4x14Th)
I only have access to 200amps as Que. Hydro blocked all upgrades so I can only run 24 S9's
2 dead boards...one new spare controller-board. All PSU's are APW3+ 1600W Bitmain all are working fine.
In 1 year I have replaced 3 hash boards and 2 controller boards already.
All are now out of warranty
All power and internet cables + 2x 24port switches (Dlink) 2x5 tier Steel racks which hold 3-4/tier.
I also have a 5000CFM floor fan available

Also have
2 Halong B29's with Innosilicon firmware (Decred) bought new from CK (3 months old)
2 Halong B52's with Innosilicon firmware (Siacoin) bought new from Ck (3 months old)

This is just a feeler...if interested I can provide all docs pics info etc...

Price? No idea make an offer...ALL went offline and are packed in original boxes in storage as of Sept. 19th
5  Bitcoin / Mining / How to know if you are a Mining addict..Well..when you fry your service entrance on: September 03, 2018, 05:37:20 AM
Just one of the risks of sucking lots of juice...

Was quite the fireworks show...plenty of sparks and pops and a cute little fire on the roof of the porch
Hats off to Hydro Quebec...back up mining in under 3 hours.

Mind you, if they would have given me the damn upgrade which I've been waiting for for 4 months, this would not have happened.
or so I like to tell myself.

7  Bitcoin / Mining support / Invalid nonce HW error? on: July 16, 2018, 06:21:15 AM
What does that mean?  Signify?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Sync eats bandwidth but No progress on block download on: July 11, 2018, 02:13:00 AM
So I have great internet service and core wallet sync always shows plenty of peers

But Syncing new core wallet is taking forever.....0.02%/hr means 4 months to download a new core wallet...
Meanwhile my bandwidth is still getting eaten....by peers uploading? I guess?

Turning off network activity stops both up and download....Strange I thought it should still download/sync? It did in past?

Is it my peers preventing my download/sync speed?
Bad or useless seed nodes?
Bad enough I need to use 250+ Gig for full node core wallet (I will Prune the shit out of that of course)

Any suggestions how to get better peers or nodes for sync?
WITHOUT having my bandwidth eaten by uploading to other peers?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to solo mine Decredition with ASIC? on: July 05, 2018, 11:28:16 AM
Anyone know how?
Any pools offer ASIC solo for Decredition?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Performance Calibrating a Halong B52 & B29 ? on: June 22, 2018, 09:59:16 AM
So by now many have to come to understand their B52 & B29's are not exactly living up to the hashrate they report or claim to be making.
Their seems to be little news or info on the related firmware. or have I just overlooked it?
Can't help wondering if the cause is related to calibration.

I have not dared to run the performance calibrate option.
Have you?
I enjoy cool ambient and excellent heat dissipation, so need not be shy to let them run hard.

I am wishful thinking, running it might indeed achieve higher average hashrate.
Any chance running calibrate could mess it up worse?
If it ain't broke ______ ___ __

12  Bitcoin / Pools / Fucked by Kano AGAIN! on: April 19, 2018, 01:43:31 PM
So not only will Kano be stealing my dust......(accumulated because I had a few machines I forgot to remove his pool as 3rd failover  )
But I am blocked from mining so have no chance of getting above the dust payout threshold...

Thanks asshole...fucked by Kano AGAIN!!!
13  Economy / Service Discussion / A smooth fast positive RMA experience with Bitmain on: March 21, 2018, 09:23:29 AM
I notice so many horror stories about Bitmain's service and RMA problems.
Just thought I would share a POSITIVE case.

Thurs. Mar 1 2018 I received some S9's ..One unit had a dead hash board.
I spent a day trying to troubleshoot it to no avail.

I contacted Bitmain support and opened a repair ticket and then early Mon. 5th sent the unit back.
It arrived in H.K. on Thurs. 8th.
On Mon. 11th I received an email stating it was "Collected"
On Wed 13th I received an email stating it was fixed and would be sent back within 3 days.
I received a call from the courier late Fri. 16th informing me the unit had arrived but I needed to show that import duties had already been paid.
Morning of Mon. 19th, I self cleared the item from customs with no additional costs and had the unit back up mining at full speed by 10 a.m.

So roughly two weeks turn around time from discovering the problem to having it back online.
I could have shaved 4 days off that time if I had shipped and collected earlier.

I have 26 S9's, that was my ever first problem with any unit and first RMA experience.
The shipping cost to H.K. From Ottawa was CDN $300..(Ouch)

14  Bitcoin / Mining support / Brand new S9... 1 board..1/2 chain DOA any suggestions on: March 02, 2018, 08:15:15 PM

16  Economy / Service Discussion / Did Bitmain just declare war on BTC? on: September 29, 2017, 12:12:16 AM
It seems Bitmain has just changed it's payment options to accepting ONLY BCC.

This must be seen as an attack if not an all out declaration of war against BTC.
I think it is a HUGE strategic blunder by Bitmain. But hey...who knows?

REMEMBER  CHINESE MINERS/people are NOT the ENEMY...The BANKS & GOVERNMENTS ARE..And THEY OWN ALL GOVERNMENTS.

As an ex-CEO of a Chinese Manufacturing Corp...
Experience leads me to KNOW..Jihan Wu is a puppet of much larger forces behind the scenes..
He does not have the level of control or influence the public think he does.
His greed for power and monopoly is obvious but he is a child remember.

One thing is for sure I will never mine or support or buy that shit Alt coin BCC...(And pray I will never need to eat those words)
17  Bitcoin / Mining / Vote for official miner theme song..and sing along... on: September 19, 2017, 01:58:36 AM
So what we miners really need is an OFFICIAL miner theme song...

I nominate...a plagiarized version of an old Rolling Stones song.

HEY...
YOU...
Get off of my coins!
I said..
HEY...
YOU...
Get off of my coins...

You can sing along.... (All those in favor repeat the chorus)
Sing with me brothers...
Hallelujah.

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [WTS] Oldies but goodies GPU rigs-gear Cpu's etc..Ottawa on: September 17, 2017, 11:03:12 PM
So of course it ain't too smart to run rigs like this anymore..Not that it was all that smart in the first place.
But they WORKED DAMN WELL as you will see.

Pics are here..
bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2186331.0

I still have most of the components just dismantled.
All the R9-290x GPU's are sold..(Man did they scream when hot or what!!! )
The PC 7990 is still a kick-ass 6Mb card which hacks at 1.35 Mh/s. AVAILABLE...

AMD Fx6500 six cores Mobo's, Towers, Corsair's AX??? i series digital psu's are AWESOME and come with dongle for power watching software.
The R9-270's  only hack .5Mh/s but cheap on electricity.
I also have 2x R9-290Trix..they are quite and hack about 1Mh/s at 350w.
8x4Mb decent quality Mem-sticks

See something you want..make an offer of 85% of going rate and it's yours
I'm moving so I'd rather stick it on a bus than drag it to next place to collect dust.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Ugliest (but effective) GPU rig set-up on: September 17, 2017, 09:04:06 PM
Ah the good old days of GPU mining

I don't think it gets any uglier than this..but damn sure was well cooled and more than paid for the gear.
Anyone notice the chop stick keeping two R9-290x's apart?
The other outdoor rig is PC-7990+R9-290x+R9-270 with 1000w EVGA
Two indoor rigs are each 1 R9290x+2x R9270 on Corsair AXi860's
All four rigs together totalled 10-12 Mh/s and 3.5KW
I actually DID have OVERHEATING issues on the CPU of the AXi1200 rig.
I could not believe it !!! Impossible right? I finally did figure it out..
It was because the CPU LIQUID COOLER was freezing up and not circulating..So off it went and back to a plain old stock fan.
I must confess being so naive at that time I did not know there are these things called "RISERS" ...I had know idea you could use them..LOL!!!

Oh...the 80c GPU is of course the middle and 54c is left near PSU. Outdoor temp was about 13c
