61  Bitcoin / Group buys / [CLOSED] Group Buy #11 1119 ASICMiner Erupter USB (YOU WANTED NEW PRICE?) on: July 11, 2013, 04:46:33 AM
.95 per device plus costs (read Pricing section below).

For orders of 50+ units, contact me for a quote.  orders of 50+ are handled privately, unless you request to have it publicly posted.
Please take a moment to read this ENTIRE post.  Absolutely New Pricing, make sure you understand it.

I am 4 miles from a MAJOR DHL hub that receives these orders from China.  My delivery times are the best.  It takes me 11 minutes to drive to DHL when necessary.   My location is in a major metropolitan area next to a LARGE international airport that is a hub for shipping for all delivery companies.  This gives me access to DHL, FedEx (also just 4 miles away, open till 9 PM for next day shipping).  I have access to several Post Offices around me.  I can ship USPS till 7 PM.
Simply put, I am in the best position geographically and logistically to receive an order and to get it out to you ASAP.  Period.

This is the ELEVENTH group buy I'm organizing. The first one completed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195647.0 The second completed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=217981.0 The third completed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=219422.0 and the fourth one completed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=222960.0 the fifth completed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=226656.0 sixth, seventh, eight, ninth and tenth can be found here on forums

Pricing:
Pricing is now based on $85 USD/ 1 btc exchange rate. (mtgox as of now)

The cost of shipping is 0.09 bitcoins for orders of 10 or less.  USPS Priority Flat Rate shipping is free for orders of 11+
You can upgrade to USPS Express or FedEx.  you need to contact me for a quote based on the # of miners you wish to have shipped (weight dependent).

Domestic Insurance:
Now optional.  Be aware, if you choose not to pay for insurance, you absolve me of any liability or claims for lost, damaged etc... packages.  In other words, buy the insurance.  I just got a kick ass rate and am very happy to extend it to you all!!

Insurance cost is $2.40 for up to 10 miners ($1000 of declared value).  This is 0.028 btc and the minimum if you are adding insurance.
cost of insuring each additional miner beyond 10 is $0.24 or 0.00282353 btc.
so for 11 miners for example (N=11), cost would be (N*0.00282353)= (11*0.00282353) where N is the number of units ordered.  If N is less than or equal to 10, then the insurance cost is fixed at 0.028 btc

Handling and processing is a flat rate of .10 btc per order.  (this pays for a hired person, yes, this has created a small job (for now)  Grin )

so for example, if you order 10 miners with insurance, the cost is:
.95*10+.09(shipping)+.028(insurance)+.10(handling)= 9.718 or 0.9718 per miner.
if you order 10 without insurance, the cost is: .95*10+.09+.10= 9.69 or 0.969 per miner.

if you order 11 with insurance: .95*11 +0.0(free shipping) + 11*0.00282353(insurance) + .10 (handling) = 0.96191444 per miner.
if you order 11 without insurance: .95*11 +0.0(free shipping) + 11*0.0(insurance, i'm not responsible) + .10 (handling) = 0.95909091 per miner.

Note, local pickup is no longer available for orders less than 50 units.

Ordering:

There is one common payment address: 1PCoLuL2mty7vXqkCVubr9oRvePzUeKJPn

To buy:

pick the number of ASICMiner Block Erupter USBs to order: N.
send the appropriate amount C based on Pricing paragraph above.

post your order in the following format: forum_nick; N; C; sending_address; Y/N (insurance flag)
ensure the sending address is under your control, so you can sign with it in case of disputes

Shipment:
The USB miners will be shipped to you within 1 day of me receiving them.  Shipped in cardboard box, not padded envelopes...

Communication:
I live in Chicago (CST time zone: UTC/GMT -5 hours) and have a day-job that allows me ample time to devote to this endeavor. I do sleep at night, so if I don't answer at night, please be patient.  I'm pretty open and transperant with info.  I post it as soon as I have it, I do not withhold from anyone.  Please respect everyone's time.

Cheers,

Canary

Pricing:
Pricing is now based on $70 USD/ 1 btc exchange rate. (mtgox as of now)

The cost of shipping up to 14 USBs is 0.12857143 bitcoins.  Shipping cost in this batch is different than other batches.

Insurance cost is $2.40 for $1000 of declared value.  This adds 0.03428571 btc.

Status updates:
2013-06-28: group buy #9 setup
2013-06-28: if you order 30+, I will ship via USPS Express service. (USA offer only)
2013-06-28: add .40 for next day FedEx shipping within USA to any order.
2013-06-28: don't have enough funds to order?  Consider using www.bitinstant.com  to fund via money gram deposit directly to your (NOT mine!!!) bitcoin address.  bitcoins are sent to you as soon as that cash is deposited at your local wallmart, cvs, jewel etc...
2013-06-28: HOW TO SIGN A MESSAGE TO ME (YOUR SHIPPING INFO): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195647.msg2291965#msg2291965
Please NOTE: the above example is NOT the same as sending a signed message with your transaction.
If you are new to this (aka noob), please read this so that you understand what to do.  This is the single most problematic step in the ordering process.
                  Here's how to sign a message with a blockchain.info wallet: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=180068.0
2013-06-28: This group is now open to international orders.  It is limited to those countries where FedEx can deliver.  I charge an additional 1 btc for the first pound of weight to ship
internationally.  the minimum weight I can specify with FedEx is 1 pound.  It takes a hell of alot of these units to weigh 1 pound.  I reserve the right to switch carriers if I
can not use FedEx to your location.  for international only: please include your phone number that will go on the fedex shipping label

Pricing:
The minimum order size for the group buy is 50 units.

The cost of shipping up to 10 USBs is .09 bitcoins.  Shipping cost in this batch is different than other batches.

Insurance cost is $2.40 for $1000 of declared value.  This adds .0218 btc.

Handling and processing is .15 btc for up to 10 USBs

So this is about (10*.99)+.09+.0218+.15 = 10.1618 BTC per 10 USB devices. which is BTC1.01618 per USB device when you buy 10.

Note: If you want to pickup your order in person, you may do so by appointment, after I finish shipping first, your cost is 1.0 btc per USB device under this option.

Ordering:

If you still want to buy and are fine with the above pricing model, then you will have to participate by paying for your order upfront.

There is one common payment address: 18DQb8uTGMtyF69oHBLHCaPrXvX7iEYnBw

To buy:

pick the number of ASICMiner Block Erupter USBs to order: N where N is between 1 and 10 only
send the total amount (C = (N * 0.99)+ 0.2618) to the given address
post your order in the following format: <forum nick>; <N>; <C>; <sending address>
ensure the sending address is under your control, so you can sign with it in case of disputes

You can order in multiples of up to 10. Meaning: if you want to order say 11, you would place two orders: one for 10 units and another order for 1 unit.  to order 12, you would place 2 orders where N=10 and second order where N=2... and so on.

Here are the costs for ordering:
Qt  1=.99*1 + 0.2618=.99+0.2618= 1.2518 BTC
Qt  2=.99*2 + 0.2618=1.98+0.2618= 2.2418 BTC
Qt  3=.99*3 + 0.2618=2.97+0.2618= 3.2318 BTC
Qt  4=.99*4 + 0.2618=3.96+0.2618= 4.2218 BTC
Qt  5=.99*5 + 0.2618=4.95+0.2618= 5.2118 BTC
Qt  6=.99*5 + 0.2618=5.94+0.2618= 6.2018 BTC
Qt  7=.99*5 + 0.2618=6.93+0.2618= 7.1918 BTC
Qt  8=.99*5 + 0.2618=7.92+0.2618= 8.1818 BTC
Qt  9=.99*5 + 0.2618=8.91+0.2618= 9.1718 BTC
Qt  10=.99*5 + 0.2618=9.9+0.2618= 10.1618 BTC
11 is 10+1 pricing
12 is 10+2 pricing
etc...
.....
....
...
..
.

If there is enough demand to order an additional 50 unit batch, I'll do so (given they are available to order). Those not getting into the queue will get their coins returned (to the sending address).

Shipment:
The USB miners will be shipped to you within 1 day of me receiving them.  Shipped in cardboard box, not padded envelopes... Here's the shipping sketch:

Communication:
I live in Chicago (CST time zone: UTC/GMT -5 hours) and have a day-job that allows me ample time to devote to this endeavor. I do sleep at night, so if I don't answer at night, please be patient.

Cheers,

71  Bitcoin / Hardware / single BFL chip USB Miner idea (evolved to Furby) on: June 18, 2013, 04:37:01 AM
do you think it's possible to design a USB miner based on a single BFL chip where the USB stick has 2 ports at both ends.
one plugs into a USB port, draws some amount of power and is used for communication, the other end of the USB is plugged into a second, separate USB port via a short USB extension cable.  can additional power be delivered from the second USB connection to provide enough power to the chip?
so it would look like a USB stick but with a USB plug at both ends...
possible? or am i asking a dumb question?

the chips are due on October 1st according to BFLs information.
This does NOT affect those who already purchased chips here.  You will have your chips or you will be able to have them made into a device.  Choice will be yours at a later time.

BFL chip specs:
  •    Technology: Global Foundries advanced 65nm technology (IBM core)

  •    Performance: 4 GH/s
  •    Performance design: 16 engines @ 250mhz nominal (294mhz max)

I will be placing orders in multiples of 100 with BFL since this is their minimum order size.

price per chip is 0.06 btc.  I reserve to right to raise the price if exchange rate drops below 100 btc (price is based approximately around $60 USD per chip)

Minimum order 1 chip, although I recommend that you order 8 or 16 since it appears that hardware boards may be designed to use chips in multiples of 8, 16 (at the moment).  Feel free to order as many as you wish.

Shipping will be calculated when ready to ship, it will be based on USPS Priority flat rate boxes + insurance (so, inexpensive).  For orders of under 50 chips a padded flat rate envelope (priority or express) label should be emailed to me for shipping your chips out to you.  orders larger than 50 should fit into a medium box.  Please email your label to canary.btc@gmail.com

I personally have ordered 200 chips already.

3500 chips have been ordered..

Pick the number of BFL chips to order N; send the total amount C = (N * .06) to the given address;
post your order in the following format: <forum nick>; <N>; <C>; <sending address>
ensure the sending address is under your control, so you can sign with it in case of disputes

Question: "Can we just pay 50% right now for the order to be placed since BFL only needs 50% deposit?"
Answer:   I'm not doing 50/50 because I do not want us to be stuck if people take too long to pay the other 50% or back out completely.  Full payment is required so that payment can be made immediately to BFL.

Question: "Can you please please change the above policy and allow 50%/50%"
ANnswer:  Sorry, no.

Disclaimer: you will not hold me responsible for BFL delayes and issues... what I will do is place the order for chips at the indicated price and send them to you or to any assembler within the United States.  International will be considered for Larger orders and you will have to pay all shipping costs.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P.S. I will add hardware projects here as they become available from forum users.

I am looking for folks who can assist with the hardware needed to place BFL chips on.  BFL has made this release: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=235892.0
