3  Economy / Trading Discussion / VirtEx Fee Increase Canadian Bitcoiners on: August 17, 2012, 01:59:56 AM
Any Canadian traders got the message of the latest fee at VirtEx?

Fee Schedule
Less than 100, 3.0%
100 to 300, 2.5%
300 to 600, 2.0%
600 to 1200, 1.5%
1200 to 2500, 1.0%
2500 or over, 0.5%

Consider some miners and traders work on thin margins already, are there any good alternatives for buy/sell?  I understand MtGox is a pain in the butt for Canadians in terms of money transfer.

4  Bitcoin / Mining / Who's the unknown mining pool? on: June 24, 2012, 01:20:06 AM
Who's the unknown mining pool that's contributing the 37 some odd percent of hashing power?

Some private entity?
5  Economy / Speculation / Price held up pretty good in the latest fiasco? on: March 03, 2012, 09:25:02 PM
We haven't seen any dramatic selling or buying yet... whereas, in previous heists the price would drop like hot potatoes.  I'm not "jinxing" anything... just pointing out the fact and to get your thoughts.
6  Economy / Goods / BTC for Silver in Canada on: February 17, 2012, 12:36:00 AM
Anyone knows how to sell BTC for silver in Canada?  Direct transaction only, no converting into cash.

What's a good escrow service to do such transactions?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Santa is in town? Price upswing! on: December 20, 2011, 04:59:44 AM
Are people buying BTC as gifts for Christmas? (Good idea, good idea, good idea!)  The price's almost doubled compared to two months ago.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Anyone reads FOFOA? on: November 11, 2011, 04:15:27 AM
I don't think anybody on this forum mentioned that FOFOA accepts bitcoin donations as well.  A really great blog to read for the monetary crowd.

9  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Overclock 6990 in Ubuntu, Same Config but Diff GPU Load? on: July 30, 2011, 12:01:05 AM
I have two 6990s in my box, so there are 4 GPUs in total.

My question is, how come my GPU1 load is at 99%, while my GPU2, 3, 4 load are at 61%, 60%, 40% respectively?

They are all overclocked the same way.

code: DISPLAY=:0 aticonfig --od-setclocks=900,1260 --adapter=all

10  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Used 6990 under performing by 50% on: July 29, 2011, 10:34:13 AM
I just purchased a pair of 6990 (2x) video cards from the same owner on Ebay and installed them to a new rig.  By comparing the total number of shares submitted, these two "used" 6990s submitted at 50% less shares of what the two new 6990s.

Both rigs have the same setting...

I'm just wondering what is the deal... I didn't screw in the video cards properly or what?  Or did previous owner properly fked up both cards?

11  Economy / Marketplace / What do you think of this advertisement on Craigslist? on: July 27, 2011, 07:38:18 AM
Hey folks, just wondering what you think of this ad on Craigslist.

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/sys/2452178851.html

I think this is a highway robbery.  If I were an outsider, I can still sniff out the rip off / scam.  It's ads like these make Bitcoins so untrustworthy at the moment.

imho.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Anyone used Bitmunchies.com? on: July 02, 2011, 02:58:43 PM
Hey all, anyone used Bitmunchies.com?  I think this website is absolutely hilarious!  Ramen noodles??? Hahahaha.  We need more and more e-commerce websites like this!
13  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Startup Script in Ubuntu on: June 25, 2011, 01:46:57 PM
I'm trying to build run my miner upon restart in Ubuntu

Here is what I did so far, I have a "chmod +x start.sh" script

#start.sh contains the following line
cd (directory)
python phoenix.py -u (pool address) -k poclbm DEVICE=0 VECTORS BFI_INT WORKSIZE=128 AGGRESSION=11 DEVICE=0

I added start.sh into the System/Startup Application through the user interface

After I restart the computer, nothing happens.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thank you
14  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Power Surger / Suppressor Stopped Working on: June 25, 2011, 12:59:33 PM
Hello, I have two rigs using PSU Corsair AX1200 1200W plugged into an APC power surger/suppressor.  Today both of my rigs went down because the surger/suppressor stopped working.  I checked the surger and the light doesn't come on anymore.

This is the second time it has happened.

Should I use one rig/PSU per power surger/suppressor?

Thanks,
J
15  Bitcoin / Mining support / BTC Guild API Access (Custom Page, php?!) on: June 23, 2011, 11:35:45 PM
Can anyone share a code snippet for BTC Guild pooled mining?  The snippet can be as simple as worker name and worker speed.

I can't seem to use my work computer/network access BTC Guild anymore... it's now classified as "High Risk".  Undecided
16  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / A Good Surge Protector (relatively inexpensive)? on: June 17, 2011, 02:32:05 AM
Hey folks, my surge protector crapped out on me so no mining tonight for me (I can sleep in quiet for once, Haaa).  I don't want to plug my miners directly into my wall.  Can you recommend a good surge protector for me?  I look through some threads and I found some people recommending a full UPS that's more than a couple hundred dollars!

Does anyone know a decent surge protector that's relatively inexpensive?  What are you using for your miners?

Thanks,
J
