13  Economy / Securities / Gigamining - The MPEx situation on: June 27, 2013, 03:08:22 PM
To all MPEx Gigamining pass-though holders,

I have spent quite a bit of time both thinking about and going back and forth on what to do about those who owned the pass-though that MPEx created for Gigamining. I have come to some conclusions about what I am going to do and I will clearly spell that out after I get some facts about the situation out of the way.

One of the reasons that I have waited to post anything definitive about this subject was because not all of the large Gigamining contract holders had claimed. As of a few weeks ago, that has changed. Now, every holder at or over 900 Gigamining contracts has claimed and been paid.

The rest of the facts of the situation are below.

  • Mircea purchased 500, then 400 more (in the same day) Gigamining contract before the initial offering on GLBSE. When the contracts were distributed, they were sent to the GLBSE account mircea_popescu. Mircea has claimed on IRC that he never had an account on GLBSE which is contradictory to the facts of the situation.
  • None of the claimants holdings at or over 900 Gigamining contracts were claimed by Mircea but all were claimed. Most, if not all of the large holders are well known and respected members of the bitcointalk community.
  • Mircea has emphatically denied all requests by me to claim the contracts he has stated he owned at the time GLBSE closed.

With the above facts, there are only two possible conclusions I have come to.

  • Mircea actually owned 900+ contracts and James from GLBSE has colluded with another individual to add them as the holder of the contracts and they have claimed them.
  • Mircea was in breach of his contract with his pass-though holders and sold Gigamining while running the pass-through, paying out weeking dividends from the proceeds of the sale.

I want to stress that I cannot prove either of the above scenarios and they are pure conjecture on my part.

I also want to stress that I consider the entire situation with MPEx / Mircea to be my fault for allowing the pass through to run and not making sure the promises made by Mircea were being kept.

So, with that said, I will allow anyone who has a signed claim from MPEx to use the same claims process as all other Gigaminers to both claim, be paid all back payments to date, and continue with Gigamining or Teramining if they choose to do so. If anyone has already claimed and has contracts owed from MPEx, you can just email me the information and I will add them to your VPS account.

Best regards,
James

15  Bitcoin / Hardware / [ANN] First 500Gh/s BFL unit up and running! on: June 18, 2013, 11:47:02 PM
Fellow Bitcoiners,

It has been a long road to get to this point but I am pleased to announce that the first 500Gh/s BFL units have been delivered and are happily hashing away as I type this. This is a huge milestone for BFL and shows their continued efforts to fulfill their promises to customers.

http://kcmo2.gigamining.com/

The picture above shows multiple FPGA minirigs along with 1 ASIC minirig.

The rig will be up and down for the evening while conman works to get cgminer fine tuned with the new firmware.

16  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] 500Gh/s BFL ASIC unit on: June 10, 2013, 04:00:05 PM
Hello fellow bitcoiners,

It has come to my attention that there are multiple BFL customers with early orders who would like to part with some of their 500Gh/s units. The reasons are numerus, from not having enough power to run the units to some wanting to not have to deal with mining.

I would like to get a feeling from the community if any of you are interested in purchasing these units.

My roll in this is strictly as a broker / escrow / single point of contact for handling all queries and sales.

The 500Gh/s units are offered at $150k $125k 1100 BTC $30k each to be paid in BTC.

If you have any questions, you can ask them by PM or in this thread.

Best,
James

18  Bitcoin / Pools / [CLOSED] Semi-private mining pool on: May 15, 2013, 02:44:35 PM
tl;dr If you are over 500Gh and want to mine with 0 fees on a pool that is very stable and proven email me at james at gigamining dot com

Bitcoin miners,

To date we’ve seen pools being DDOS’d, overburdened by botnets, hacked to steal miners coins and taken out of service because of the lack of fees and up keep.

I’d like to offer a solution to these problems. VPS / Gigamining & LiquidBits have joined up to run our own private pool. This means we do not share the URLs to the service with the public so that we can protect it and mine in peace. Keeping the pool private also allows us to:

  • Mitigate DDOS attacks before they happen
  • Not worry about large botnets crashing the pool
  • Limit the influx of new miners when the price of Bitcoin rises

The infrastructure is fully redundant at every server level and uses the latest mining protocol to make sure your mining experience is top notch and RELIABLE. Let me be clear, bitcoinds can be updated without downtime, stratum servers can be updated without downtime and the service is ready to scale at a moments notice.

A full list of service features include:

  • Stratum mining service (ASIC ready)
  • PPLNS reward system that is shifted (last 10 shifts paid) and scored - hopping proof
  • PPS reward system with 5% fee - hopping proof
  • Variable Difficulty set to 20 shares per minute
  • Minimum Difficulty of 25
  • Set your own starting/minimum difficulty per worker
  • Weekday payouts manually reviewed and verified by the app and VPS staff
  • Bitcoins mined directly to cold storage - coins are never stored on any pool infrastructure
  • SSL protected website
  • Google Authenticator two factor authentication available
  • Lockable payment address

Our web interface has been built from the ground up with Bitcoin miners in mind. It has all of the stats and charts that miners want to see including block history charts to show whether the luck of the pool is with the 5% to 95% confidence. A big thanks for organofcorti for both analyzing the pool and coming up with the charts.

Right now we are looking to increase the hashrate of the pool. During the beta phase of the pool, we will be running at 0 fees with transaction fees included. The beta will easily last for the next two months while we work out the interface kinks of the pool and make sure everything keeps running as smoothly as it has been over the last three months.

You can also rest assured that when the pool comes out of beta, we will have the lowest fees of any pool out today. We know what constant fees do to large miners and want to minimize that impact as much as possible.

If you are interested, please email me at [james at gigamining dot com]. You must be running at least 500Gh/s and must be willing to make a commitment to keep our little slice of mining private.

Best regards,
James

20  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] Aluminum cases for you next mining rig! [sold out] on: April 09, 2013, 07:39:09 PM
Fellow miners,

I've recently noticed a bunch of people still building GPU rigs, for BTC and LTC.

I have built tons of GPU rigs and have done them on a custom chassis that is pictured below.

These open air rig chassis hold up to 5 GPU's and have a custom mounting plate for 2 ATX power supplies.

They also have an ATX motherboard plate fixed to them and are ready to accept your mining equipment.

The price will be $175 (assembled) or $160 (un-assembled) (paid in Bitcoin at the 24 hour average price) with shipping included

I only have 20 of these bad boys to sell so act fast. . . . . .

If you need instructions for assembly, you can now view them at the link below.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bz3e6UVDPWwvSURVcUR6aGtkRlU/edit?usp=sharing

PM me if you would like a PDF copy.
