123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to mine for ETH? - NEWB - Plz help tysm on: August 26, 2021, 08:02:46 PM
Hey guys!

So I live in Florida, recently I've been thinking of getting into mining and I have a few questions. Is mining via solar even possible?

Can anyone please steer me in the right direction for other threads that help someone start off mining ETH to maximize profitability?

IS there some sort of step by step guide on what I should get, how to do this, and some kind of proven recipe to mine x currency in my region?

Is ETH the smartest crypto to mine right now? What other cryptos are more profitable to mine? Open to any and all suggestions! Thanks again!!! Grin
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Lending Against Your Bitcoin on: June 16, 2021, 07:03:46 PM
Hey Guys,

Recently I've been thinking in terms of liquidity, not that I plan on liquidating anytime soon but as a backup Plan B i've heard of a lot of folks lending against their bitcoin holdings.

Can anyone tell me which reputable and trusted companies will provide this service for future reference in case any such measure needs to ever be taken in the future either by myself or anyone in this forum?

If anyone knows any threads on this very topic please do share, or if you have knowledge on this or experience in doing so please elaborate and give your opinion or any insight that you may have.

Many thanks,

125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Using Tether to increase your Bitcoin Position on: June 10, 2021, 06:13:18 PM
Hey guys,

Recently I've been doing a lot of thinking about utilizing Tether, I HODL from 2018 at the end of the last bear market. I've held and held and held, and now I've even bought more. But since the first crash from 64 i'm regretting not having the foresight to have already done this correctly and doubling my position once already!

One of my good friends things we are on the cusp of a serious bear market and has a few short position calls thinking it can go as low as 17k. As much as I hate to say this I think that we may be entering bearish territory, really hope i'm wrong tho.

So now then why not transfer everything back over to Binance, transfer to Tether, hold in Tether, wait for BTC to dip and buy back in and increase the position. Wow, thats so easy to say isn't it?

Even thinking about doing this scares the absolute crap out of me. Moving all my coins over to the exchange and converting it, there's no way I'd keep it on the exchange I'd move it right back. Ledger can hold Tether apparently, which is the wallet I use. But I need to research that process a bit more. From my understanding you just send the Tether to the Ethereum wallet on Ledger since it is ERC-20?

Just thinking about possible things that could go wrong here: What if BTC jumps way up? I miss out on huge gains and have LESS Bitcoin. How tf can you even time this crap? I wish we had a crystal ball lol. I just want to have more. I need more. My family needs more. Huge risk + huge rewards right?

These are just all of my thoughts, I needed to type them out and process this. Need to find out how much higher BTC can go, and look for signs of what can affect this in the short term. I'm no day trader, i'm no expert, just a guy trying to leave a legacy for my family!

Any suggestions, advice, know how, input, anything helps! What are all your thoughts on this? I'm sure tons of people utilize Tether like this, does anyone think they have a good pulse on the market and have any ideas of when the next big drop could be?

Happy Stacking!!!!

127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / HBAR AKA Hedera Hashgraph- A token that claims to go beyond the blockchain on: May 11, 2021, 08:34:05 PM
Hey Guys,

So I was speaking with a co-worker on our way back from our work golf league, I don't really know the guy at all but he needed a ride home and lives in my city. On our ride home he was telling me about some of what he's invested in, some crypto I've never heard of with the ticker "HBAR" which uses Hashgraphs which if you don't know what those are I did a quick wiki search here: "Hashgraph is a distributed ledger technology developed by Leemon Baird, the co-founder and CTO of Swirlds, in 2016.[1][2] It is an asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerance (aBFT) consensus algorithm.[3] It does not use miners to validate transactions, and uses directed acyclic graphs for time-sequencing transactions without bundling them into blocks.[4]"

Its backed by Google Cloud, and its board consists of leaders from some of the largest companies in the world including: IBM, Deutsche Telekom, Boeing, LG, and so many others.

Running a quick google search on Hbar you'll come to the question promptings and this pops up:

"People also ask
Is HBAR a good investment?
Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR) is considered a terrific long-term investment opportunity and probably one of the few cryptocurrencies that could generate profit in the face of a bear market or adverse economic conditions. Hedera is a good investment because its technology is superior to all other cryptocurrency."

Looking on their website: hedera.com they state: "Hedera is the only public ledger that uses hashgraph consensus, a faster, more secure alternative to blockchain consensus mechanisms. Hashgraph works efficiently to verify transactions while ensuring the highest standard of security to prevent malicious attacks. Hashgraph achieves high-throughput with 10,000+ cryptocurrency transactions per second today and low-latency finality in seconds from its innovative gossip about gossip protocol and virtual voting. Once consensus is reached, it is available on the public ledger for everyone to transparently see."

Has anybody looked into this currency/ heard of it before? It actually seems like a pretty legit token & one that could possibly rise astronomically in the future, maybe?

Its very cheap right now clocking in at 0.27 cents per coin. A few months ago it was less than 1 cent.I am currently contemplating throwing a grand in for shits and giggles, and maybe i'll be laughing all the way to the bank in a few years. who knows!!!

Can't wait to hear your thoughts and feedback on this.

128  Economy / Service Discussion / My professional livelihood is propelled by Bitcoin ATM Networks on: May 04, 2021, 10:12:08 PM
You may have seen this chart from a recent post of mine here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5332267.msg56837992#msg56837992

The first time I saw this chart was in 2018 when it was A LOT smaller, but I saw a unique opportunity here, an opportunity that no one else in my telecom company had seen either. Since then I've been working tirelessly to grow my clientele in this space, and so far its been very successful, and for some reason i'm still the only person in my company capitalizing on it, so please don't tell anyone about it, okay?  Wink

I'll never forget my first encounter with a prominent Bitcoin ATM Operator out of Miami, FL. I won't mention any names so lets just call him "Chuck". I cold called Chuck one day out of the blue and scheduled a meeting to come down to his office in Miami and pitch him on our LTE products and services. So I took the trip down, it was about an hour South on I-95 from my office in West Palm Beach and I went with my assistant, Andre. We finally pulled up and to our delight his office was overlooking Bay Biscayne in a fancy and "hip" new office building.

When we got to what seemed to be the correct number suite we knocked on a very empty looking door that showed no inclination that any company occupied the space. Chuck answered and we introduce ourselves (thankfully in the right place) & Chuck sprang right into this whole impressive tour right off the bat, we were amazed by all these things he was initially telling us. Things that he was doing currently and planned to do with the company. All over the floor surrounding the entire office space during his tour there were Bitcoin and ETH GPU Miners he mentioned he was using to offset the cost of his rent, he said " Since the energy at the building is completely free we're saving a $#!* ton on rent". It was pretty cool, Andre and I couldn't believe it! It was honestly probably the coolest thing i'd seen in a long time. Then he took us into the room where he held all the BTMs that were ready for deployment and I was honestly kind of drooling at that point, it was all just so cool to see, so new, so different.

Chuck concluded the tour to take us into the conference room where we would be for the next 2 hours. The first thing Chuck did was hook us up with some authentic cuban espresso shots and LaCroixs, (which I was very happy about) and he had explained that he was sorry he couldn't make it for a lunch meeting instead. Once he got us drinks and sat down with us, he asked us "Do you know why I took this meeting?" we looked at him with curiosity and asked why, he explained " I've been working with my vendor for years and years, but they've never come to my office to visit me". We immediately thanked him for the opportunity to sit down with him to talk, but we didn't start to talk about what we went there to talk about. We ought to just have had that lunch meeting because for the next 2 hours Chuck told us about BTCBITCOINBTC with zest and conviction about how it was the soundest money there is, how there will never be another 1st cryptocurrency in the future, and that Bitcoin was going to change the world. And he just went on and on and on about it, and I was on the edge of my seat, for 2 whole hours!

At the last 5 minutes we quickly went through what we were actually there to talk about and pitched him and he said he would let us know. We said our goodbyes and thanked Chuck for the time, and we were on our way. A week later I reached back out to check in and he sent me the signed contract. That sealed the deal as my first Bitcoin ATM client in early 2018. We would be providing internet connectivity via a SIM Card and a Router through my company, something completely essential and mandatory for kiosks to work. HUGE WIN! Since then the industry has grown like crazy, and so has my clientele! Its kind of mind boggling thinking back on it all, but also very cool. Being able to realize crypto gains indirectly at work has been a complete shift in business that I didn't expect either. When work involves something you're really passionate about, it becomes fun. Also kind of funny, all the names for these operators either include "Coin" "Bitcoin" or "crypto" so its really easy to mix them up upon referencing them from time to time lol.

Before speaking with Chuck I had owned a small amount of bitcoin and had made my first initial purchase, and I was already sold on Bitcoin as a legitimate currency/asset. But Chuck double sold me on it, and so I doubled downed at that point. After that I had been buying and buying, telling everyone to do the same. Chuck became a center of influence for me, introducing me to a very prominent figure in the space in person, Saifedean Ammous- what an awesome time meeting him and seeing him speak. I am so happy that I made that call to Chuck in the first place, its honestly changed a lot for me, and I have thanked him many times for it.

It is interesting to me because not only am I betting a very high stake on crypto in and of itself , but I've also managed to transfer this exponential growth and "Bitcoin betting" to my professional life and now is is a big part of my livelihood here. I really shouldn't even call it a bet because I (just as you) are very bullish on bitcoin! Bitcoin ATMs are still in the wild wild west phase, but this glimpse of exponential growth is about to get much, much larger! What you're going to do about it is your decision, as for me, i'm doubling down!!!

129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / My First Encounter with Bitcoin in Central Park-October 2010 on: May 03, 2021, 06:14:28 PM
I was a Sophomore in high school at the time. I had become great friends with a foreign exchanged student from Spain named Pablo. I showed him the ropes and how to fit in with the American kids and I got him plugged in at school. In turn he helped me cheat in my Spanish 2 class in online virtual school LOL. It was hilarious, for the oral exams over the phone the teacher would ask the questions on speakerphone, I'd then mute the phone and Pablo would tell me what to say, the teacher was amazed with how great my dialect was and would keep telling me this, every time Pablo and I died laughing and we've never pressed the mute button any faster jajaja- good times. Anyways Pablo's US Family hosts went to our church and my mom was good friends with them so naturally we just became good buds, plus Pablo was just super cool.

After a couple of months passed by Pablo was picking up English very quickly, his hosts decided it was time they take him on a trip to show him some of our great cities in the US. I tagged along as his best friend, & also because I have never been to the North East US. My birthday was during this trip, so the trip was also a birthday gift from my mom.

Our first stop was Philadelphia, where I raced Pablo up the Rocky steps! We had a blast and of course hit up the main market there for the best Philly Cheese Steak we've ever had in our lives. The next day we went over to Baltimore, Maryland where we witnessed Joe's son get discharged from the Navy aboard the USS Constellation, later we went to the amazing aquarium there & finished the night off with dinner at the Hard Rock right in the harbor there before retreating to NJ for some B-day fun and staying at Joe's sons house for the night.

The next day we were in NY. I had never been to the city before and I was really excited! We took the NJ Transit in.  We had a great time checking it out & I met up with an old friend who had moved there, and then in the afternoon we went to Central Park. It was there in the park that someone had approached me asking me if I wanted to buy Bitcoin. I had of course asked what it was, they gave a vague explanation and so I figured, why not! I preceded to pull $20 from my wallet and started handed it to the girl. In that moment, Joe intervened and took the $20 from my hand telling me not to waste my money and that Bitcoin is nothing but some scam. I told him "well what if its worth something someday" Carol jumped in and told Joe not to tell me how to spend my money, Joe handed me my $20 bill back and the girl looked at me and asked me again if I wanted to buy, and I said I guess not. I remember right after that Joe and Carol went off ahead of me walking in the park preceding to have an argument about what just took place amongst each other. Pablo had no clue what was really going on, and I kept telling him that we had to find that person again! A few minutes went by and I was trying to find that person again & purchase the bitcoins, but I never could find them and that was that. At that time bitcoin was around 6 cents. Today I still remember that so vividly, it kills me to think of all the "what ifs".

If I did purchase those coins there is no telling if whether or not I would have remembered to keep that little piece of paper that stored the private keys. I could have lost all my funds by misplacing that paper when my parents moved out of state, or maybe they would have been stolen in the MT. GOX hack, or maybe, just somehow I would have actually held onto them and realized that I was filthy rich with internet money. Well, none of that ever transpired because I made a very big mistake and I listened to someone shoot me down, and didn't follow through with my purchase.

In hindsight I can't blame anyone but myself, always trust your gut! That day I didn't trust my gut and I learned a huge lesson. The funny thing is that the 200 coins I would have gotten is small change compared to all the early adopters, but that could have been me. Bitcoin evaded my thoughts up until 2014 when my friend messaged me and a ton of random people from my college on Facebook about it, I didn't pay any mind as I was focused on my studies at the time. The next time I had really started paying attention was August 2017 when my friend Ian started telling me about ICOs and BTC and ETH. One day in my office, you could hear a pin drop, I got up from my seat and preceded to ask my colleagues "what do you guys think about Bitcoin" Instantly like 20 people got up from their desk and I sparked a huge office wide discussion. I remember watching Bitcoin trading in the thousands at the time and we kept talking about it, I kept seeing the price going up thinking I had already missed the boat, this was right as its first huge bull run ran into December and January hitting 20k for the first time. I was so mad at myself. Towards the end of the bear market in 2018 is when I made my first initial purchase and have been stacking SATs ever since.

Does anyone else have any bitcoin stories like this? I know that i'm definitely not the only one who lost out on this! Please feel free to share as i'd love to hear your stories, too!
130  Economy / Exchanges / Crypto ATM Rapid Growth on: April 21, 2021, 08:56:34 PM
I'm just going to leave this here. Private Equity Firms and Capital Investors have their eye on Crypto ATMs right now.

This impressive chart showing nearly 20k Crypto ATMs currently, I wouldn’t doubt more than 60k in next 4-5 years time.

131  Economy / Exchanges / Binance directly robbed me of 90% of my deposited coins $&@!@$ on: April 19, 2021, 03:02:45 PM
All I wanted to do was buy a tiny bit of doge coin and binance has screwed me lol. Sent $70 to the old non US account by mistake forgetting they changed to a US only platform. They said they’d give the withdrawal fee back (.0005 BTC or $35)  if I sent funds to another binance address so I created the binance US account, now I can’t even convert the BTC to doge on the new binance US account so I’m creating a kraken account, now if I want to transfer my remaining $35 of BTC that I transferred in they take pretty much all that’s left and I get $7 back in BTC. I’ve been Robbed 90% of what I transferred into Binance, screw that platform! I’ll never use them again. Going back to Bittrex or Kracken after this experience. I’m so pissed and I still don’t have any DOGE lol. I’m glad it is such a minuscule amount, but still lol.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / I’ve been robbed by Binance ! Never again will I use them on: April 19, 2021, 03:00:08 PM
Binance is no bueno so i will be trading elsewhere now. What is the best place to buy DOGE that’s not coinbase?
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [NFT- Gaining UNDERSTANDING] on: April 16, 2021, 03:02:50 AM
How do you make an NFT? I know that you need to launch them on either the Ethereum blockchain or another common chain that can be made available and sold through a popular marketplace, but I still just don't quite get why people are forking over millions and millions of dollars for these honestly seemingly worthless tokens when they could have BTC or literally any other shitcoin.

Someone please help me understand why they are so valuable, should we all be investing in these NFTs? Are they really worth it long term? What is the difference between these and those dumb crypto kittens? These are fortnight skins, they're things that we have already been purchasing like avatars though many platforms in the past 10 years, but now they just have a crypto branding lol.

Looking forward to some proper education here from the smartest people on the net, please don't hold back one bit and do us the kind service of educating everyone in this thread. Please and thanks!
134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin (BTC) was placed in the 12th place, with 106.2 points. on: June 19, 2020, 01:34:32 PM
I saw this today online:

China’s Center for Information and Industry Development, or CCID, revealed on June 18 that its 18th CCID Global Public Chain Technology Evaluation Index. This index ranked 37 well-known global cryptos using technical specifications.

According to the table published by local media Chainnews, Bitcoin (BTC) was placed in the 12th place, with 106.2 points.

The criteria used to evaluate cryptocurrencies include basic technology, applicability, features, performance, safety, creativity and decentralization.

At the top of the table, EOS leads the ranking with 156.1 points, followed by TRON with 138.43 points and Ether (ETH) with 136.4 points. The leading cryptocurrency scored 20.4 points in applicability and 24.7 in creativity, while the second place had 28.4 and 15.5 points, respectively.

How can China's CCID deem Bitcoin in such a low standing on this chart? Their very central bank proclaims that Bitcoin is the future practically. I don't get this.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / KEEP HODLING ETH - XRP - NEO ??? on: June 08, 2020, 08:42:39 PM
I of course had to have some of my coins diversified. But more recently I've thought of converting all three of these cryptos I own into BTC & only holding Bitcoin. I do like ETH and think that the smart contracts are great and there is a lot to build on. XRP is completely hated by the crypto community, but even if they deemed it a security the asset would probably still increase in value. NEO is Chinese and could see huge upside if adopted in that region. But Bitcoin, oh man, Bitcoin is going to the freaking moon. I'm convinced. What do you guys think about these 3 cryptos ? Can't wait to see the feedback on this lol.
136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / ERC-20 Tokens Not Showing % in Ethplorer on: February 21, 2020, 04:45:11 PM
Hey Guys,

I'm still trying to figure out this whole ERC-20 token system. I know that myethereumwallet is where all my tokens are stored, however I have many that aren't showing up and/or registering.

Here is a scenario that i'm running into that maybe someone here can shed some light on:

I'm seeing all my transaction history on Ethplorer- everything looks good there and shows all my tokens, its all inbound and sent to my address and there they are, I do not see any withdrawal history so I don't think that anybody has phished me or stolen my coins (at least I hope not, or does this not show withdrawal history in Ethplorer?). Whats weird is that it shows the balances at the top for all 20 coins I got from airdrops, but only like 9 of them are actually showing a percentage change and registering on the historical chart for how much all my coins are worth. Every other coin that doesn't have a percentage change showing is not registering on the historical chart, but it does show me the amount of coins that I have. When I go to MEW or just on myetherwallet website to add the custom token, for example, my BWX tokens, it shows that I have 0! But in Ethplorer it shows that I have 400 of them. Another instance is that my BTK tokens also show up in Ethplorer ( also one of the coins w/ no percentage change  with historical chart) but when I add those coins into my MEW those actually do register for the proper amount that ethplorer is showing for 3000.

Could some these funds have been lost somehow due to a contract bug? I know that some of them probably have been completely lost due to being completely shut down etc, but how do I find out for sure? If that is not the case with some coins, how do I get them back? Its a lot of work to go in and manually add all these as custom tokens as well, why did they make this so darn complicated? Is there an easier way to centralize all of the coins that I have in my wallet?

Here is a list of all the tokens I got that register: RBLX, C8, nCash, BCPT, CSM, PTT, IND, PARETO

Here is a list of all the tokens that do not register w/ historical graph data on ethplorer: GSGC, BCPT (duplicate?), XDAC, EEE, OAK, CGCX, KCH, WZI, LINO, BWX, BTK, CSMX

Any help on this matter is appreciated. Thanks again for all of your help!

Hey Guys, I've been looking for some new crypto collectibles recently. Is any one saavy enough to tell me what's what on here? What crypto collectibles are the most desirable to a "newbie" and which ones are the most likely to be good long-term investments? Please post links of the most recent crypto gear that is available to buyers anywhere online in 2020. Also interested in learning more about exclusive offers that many wouldn't ever really even know about until it was too late. If you have some info on that, and don't want to post it in this thread please feel free to DM me. Thanks!!
