Just wondering if there are any alts out there that have been integrated with Open Transactions? As I understand it, OTX is a protocol. I have not downloaded the code to try it out yet, but is there a core reference OTX p2p network, that you then interface with via the protocol. Or do protocol implementers essentially run their own network?
Presumably at some point in the future, one would be able to connect to an (or "the"?) OTX network and exchange alt-chain 1 for alt-chain 2 or any other supported virtual financial asset or vehicle.
Are there example of anyone who has done this yet? Or is it still uncharted territory?

Warning: This thread is very graphic heavy! We are quickly approaching a beta release. As requested by the community, we've created another thread as a progress log of what is coming. We will post screenshots as we make progress so you can see the cool stuff we are making. Blog Posts:Particle Advanced Wallet Development Update 1/25/2014 Approaching BetaWhat is the Particle Advanced Wallet? This is an all new wallet implementation in C#/.NET platform. It works cross platform using Mono (v3). For faster time to market, what we have done is encapsulated the daemon (particled) behind the scenes. The wallet runs a basic internal message bus, brokers requests to/from the daemon using BitcoinRPCSharp library. What are Particle Apps? The Particle Advanced Wallet (aka BitParticle) support custom apps/add-ons, as like Firefox, Chrome, iPhone etc. Apps are put in the sandbox, and extend the functionality of the wallet. Do we need Angry Birds in a wallet? No. Of course not! However, there are use cases today where this bring value, like consumption of various trade APIs. We're really unsure of just how far it will go, we're opening the door and providing the platform. There are a lot of creative people out there so I'm sure we will see some amazing stuff we can't really imagine right now. Once the wallet functionality is completed we will stand up a first example app store/repo. It is similar idea to how Linux package repositories work. Like open source App Store. Our focus has been on reaching feature parity with the Qt wallet, so we can start using the new wallet as swap out replacement for it.Ok, some sexy screenshots for you:The main dashboard:Send:Receive:Transaction History:Real Time System Monitor App:This has option to turn off piping of daemon output for less chatty. Allows to see what is flowing on message bus. Collapsed mode:If you want to keep small bar at top of screen to monitor. Pluggable Protocol URIWe have also implement pluggable protocol for custom uri (particle://). This is similar to bitconi: uri scheme but with some more capabilities. It follows such scheme: particle://appslot/action/parameter/parameter/... For core wallet it is for instance:particle://prt/send/address/amount/comment For apps it is:particle://myapptokeniknowhowtohandle/actionisupport/parameter/... Apps can listen on the message bus for URI message and handle if they support. We have thread on BitParticle forum where you can post your app ideas or wish list, please come participate (we also have live chat box): http://forum.bitparticle.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=35

From Particle announce thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=392804.0Concept for Decentralized Market FeatureSomething special we're thinking about. Not talking about exchange or market of currencies. But marketplace like peer to peer eBay or classifieds. Decentralized doge road. Problem with doge road and such is centralization. What if the market was decentralized and encoded or alongside the blockchain. Pseudonymous like bitcoin protocol. Tied to addresses like wallet addresses. Not controlled by any one person or entity. Possible Implementations1. Encoded in blockchain. Problem is bloating of blockchain, and tack on after the fact. 2. Alongside parallel blockchain. Thinking through How would this work. How to reward nodes for processing the marketplace. Items have expiry and fall off the chain, to control blockchain size. 3. Alongside, bittorrent type protocol. Instead of encoding in some kind of blockchain format, something like .torrent files. Special file format. Maybe can embed images, and standard data about the offered item. Could maybe have chat using bittorrent chat protocol too once released. 4. Alongside, WASTE type protocol. Darknet type protocol. Instead of any file sharing, special format market entry file. Need some indexing/search method so client nodes can construct and cache listings for display in client. Could have chat too. Expiry of items, so caches can be culled. How to implement trader rating, rate addresses? How to prevent gaming/rating spam/etc. Looking at a wallet/full node implementation in C#. Would make implementation of new features or "layers" easier. Cross-platform with Mono or use linker make monolithic cross-platform executables. Can then do Android/iOS with Xamarin. Still thinking through, but this is project for 2014. Looking for ideas, will compile. New website and forum coming soon to follow project, working on today. Will be killer feature.

Early screenshots. Not a final design version. | New Wallet
| | | | | | | | | New generation wallet | | User experience oriented | | Cross platform | | Extensible | | | Particles key differentiator in the crypto currency marketplace is its advanced wallet technology. Unlike most alt coins that are simple copy-and-paste clones of Bitcoin-Qt with a few parameter changes, Particle has a unique wallet with user friendly features for a sublime user experience. | | The Particle advanced wallet, codenamed BitParticle, offers an incredible user experience through a Modern (previously known as Metro) style user interface. The interface features a focus on typography (the so-called Swiss style popularized in the 1960′s), titles, and tabs. Plugins are able to hook in and expose their own tabs in the UI that contain their functionality. | | Our wallet is created on the .NET Framework and is cross platform with the open source Mono project. The wallet code is implemented in C# with the help of a few open source libraries and communicates with the particled Particle daemon through the JSON-RPC (remote procedure call) interface. | | Particle wallet is extensible. This means it can be extended by the community to add new features directly in the wallet. This is the same concept as add-ins in Firefox or apps for the iPad. Community developers and hobbyists can create plugins that are loadable by the wallet to expand the feature set. | | | Particle Coin
