21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Emunie a better investment than NXT coin? on: January 06, 2014, 11:05:37 PM
I made some profit on NXT and thinking about investing in another coin now.

I like Emunie for the fact that they will have a more fair coin distribution. I do not like the fact that just a few people bought the NXT for just thousands of dollars and now they are hoarding most of it, and slowly dumping it onto the market at any price increases. They already stole some of my profits with their blatant market manipulation. So I'm done with NXT, unless it falls down to a reasonable price which accounts for having a billion coins.

I think that since everybody will buy in at the same price with Emunie, people will be more wiling to support the coin and help to progress it. They also will not sell it cheaper than they paid, so the downside risk should be low if you get into the pre-buy.

We all know the stigma with the alt-coins, many are pre-mined and made to make the early adaptors or miners rich. I think this hurts most coins in the long run and people don't stick with them, except the few people who got in early for cheap.

I am convinced that only coins which have fair distribution will make it in the long-run.

I would like to hear some of your opinions on what you think about investing in Emunie? Maybe there are some reasons I haven't heard that make it a bad investment.

22  Economy / Speculation / I'm cashing out my bitcoins. Anyone else feeling a drop coming soon?***UPDATED** on: December 29, 2013, 04:57:48 AM
Pulled all my alt-coin positions out and made about 50% profit gambling there over the last couple of weeks.

I feel a weakness throughout the market and think it will get worse. I think we will be heading into the 600's soon and then slowly into the 500's. With no end in sight really.

Anyone else feel the same?

UPDATE IS IN RED BELOW.
updated for the people saying I am always wrong.

I made a bad call this time about bitcoin, because the alt-coin market was going to crap, and I figured the bitcoin market was also. Just read my original post, I mentioned cashing out of the alt-coin market. I never traded bitcoins, only bought them to invest in alt-coins, so I never watched the bitcoin market.

I was right about the alt-coin market at the time, and cashed out before mostly everything fell. I cashed out on Nxtcoin at the peak of .00013 making over 20x my original investment at .00000500.
I got scammed and rebought in at .00009 before the source code release when the NXT cartel decided to peg the price at .00009 forcing me to buy in high. Then I sold out at .00007 and warned everybody at .00007 that I am cashing out at that point and why. Just an hour after I warned people on the forum the price dropped from .00007 to .00005. I got scammed here due to blatant price manipulation. But I still profited from my 20x rise.

However, the alt-coin market was failing because they have to share all the money being invested in them. Most of the crappy ones will fall, and only few will survive and it will only get worse.

Trust me, I am warning people away like crazy in the alt-coin community about the inevitable price collapses of many of the crap-cions, as the market is so tiny and they have to continually share any growth with all the others and all the new temporary hot ones coming out. Plus I try and let people know just how high the growth rate is on many of them which will inevitably make them fail in the tiny market.
Trust me, many people don't like me over there, just like most don't like me here.

There was a time you could have profited with alt-coins but you have to play it very smart. I never invested in bitcoins directly, I still have about 7 bitcoins from selling alt-coins, I sold very little of them as I basically decided to sell if they went under $675 and if it didn't just ride the wave up.

However, I did make a bad call here thinking the bitcoin market was tied with the alt-coin market, which it really isn't. Weakness over there does not mean bitcoin weakness. My mistake. I really should have made the title, "I'm cashing out my alt-coins".

Actually, the reason that bitcoin may have rose was because the alt-coin market is failing and people are putting their money back into bitcoins now. It has actually made it stronger! Which I failed to see.

Just read some of my posts, I warned people in the Emark to cash out at .0003, and gave them good reason to. I already cashed out at .0004 after buying in at .0001. They gave me the same non-sense you guys give me that I don't know what I'm talking about. The Emark went down to .0002 and will go back to .0001 for sure.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=310939.msg4294369#msg4294369

Look at me warn people from earth coin, only to have it fall over 25% from the warning.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=399855.msg4331360#msg4331360

Just before saying I was "cashing out", I told people on here that the bitcoin price was going to $1000, as it did.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=378259.msg4054436#msg4054436
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=385523.msg4148790#msg4148790

So you guys may say I am always wrong, with a few understandable misjudgments, I am usually right. Yes I was stupid not buying bicoins at $2.00, but I still told everyone it was way overvalued from $30 to $2.00. Does that really make me always wrong because I didn't buy in at that time.

So in a way I was right again, cashing out of alt-coins before the inevitable collapse. Just shouldn't have posted here in the topic that I'm cashing out my bitcoins.
23  Economy / Speculation / Why I think bitcoins are a bad investmen at these high prices. on: December 26, 2013, 06:09:56 AM
I think this should be common sense.  But maybe my logic is wrong somehow, well here goes.

When bitcoins were  $20 dollars each, and you bought $1000 dollars worth of bitcoins, you would own 50 bitcoins.

Bitcoins at $1000 each, you buy $1000 dollars worth, you have 1 bitcoin.

Now for you to double your investment to $2000. Bitcoins at $20 dollars each would have to rise to $40 dollars each.

To double your investment at $1000, 1 bitcoin would have to rise a whopping $1000 dollars more for you to double your investment.

Now you may think, well the price would have to double from $20 to $40 or from $1000 to $2000 and your $1000 would be worth $2000. Well....

This means, the market cap for $20 dollar bitcoins to increase to $40 dollars would have a market cap increase of $243 million.

For bitcoins to increase from $1000 to $2000, you would have to increase market cap a whopping $12 billion dollars.

Now think about this, if your new to investing in bitcoins, do you really want to risk $1000 when to double your money you would have to risk $1000 dollars and hope that the market cap has to increase 48x more than it would compared to $20 dollar bitcoins. Do you want to gamble on the market cap increasing 12 billion dollars or 243 million dollars, to double your money.

Maybe something is wrong with my logic, but to me buying bitcoins at $700 or $1000 is simply a very bad investment that I simply will not do. I just do not feel the returns are there for the risk you take of the price falling back down and also the risk of the market cap having to increase exponentially more!

Simply bitcoins have grown so astronomically in the last year that to continue this momentum is just a risky gamble at this point. The higher the price goes the less people want to buy bitcoins that are very expensive. The higher the price goes it also takes a much higher market cap increase to get the same returns.

Now think about this. I doubt that there are that many new buyers in the bitcoin market than there were at the beginning of this year when bitcoins were $13 dollars. When bitcoins were $13 dollars a rise form $13 dollars to $23 dollars would have been huge! But in actuality a bitcoin price rise from $700 to $710 seems small now, but it takes the same market cap increase as it did in January. Yet you would think a $700 to $710 increase is nothing now.

Something just does not add up to me with how the prices are and how high they have grown over such a short period of time. The bitcoin market seems like a house of cards and the only thing holding it together is that owners of bitcoins are wealthy enough to not need to cash out their bitcoins and just sit on them. If anything happened where even a small increase in bitcoin holders needed to cash out for what ever reason (like a downturn in the economy), the price would crash faster than you could imagine. Simply put again a house of cards.

My recommendation is that anyone thinking about investing their hard earned money in bitcoins should think about this and stay away. There are simply much better investments out there than investing in bitcoins. You are taking such extreme risk with your money at this point to get the gains you want.

Bitcoin holders who are predominately on this forum already own their bitcoins at much lower prices. They will not let you know these facts and they do not stand to lose nearly as much as you investing at $700 vs them investing at sub $100 prices. This is why I think bitcoin holders are simply crazy for not cashing out at these high prices and let someone else hold the bag for such a risky investment that to me looks like a house of cards waiting to tumble at these ridiculously higher prices that happened so quickly. Just look around for other investments and you can easily have exponential growth just like the current bitcoin holders now have. We have missed the boat entering in at $700 and it will take large increases for the prices to go higher and at any moment you have to hope that there is not a reason why people want to start cashing out as the price would easily fall back down at these high prices.

Please correct me if I am wrong here, or please let me know if I have a point here.

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Coinex threatens to contact local police on me. on: December 25, 2013, 05:41:36 PM
After coinex was down for three days and came back online I have a negative balance. It is hard to say I agree with the negative balance.

They sent an email saying that I have to make the account positive again or they will consider it a theft and contact local police.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Another Cryptsy post, costing me a lot of money what can I do? on: December 20, 2013, 11:38:24 PM
I had a negative bitcoin balance after I made a bitcoin deposit. Now there is no self audit feature.

I am pissed here because I want to sell some stuff to turn it into bitcoins and than pull out of the market, wanted to do this earlier today. Cryptsy takes forever to respond to support tickets.

Now I am scared to sell anything because it would give me a positive bitcoin balance and they may not see the bitcoin deposit I made. Basically it may make a mess of everything because now you can clearly see my last trades were before I made that bitcoin deposit so how could I have a negative balance.

What should I do? Should I leave my account alone until they fix it or should I go ahead and sell and they should still work out what deposits were never posted?

This is really bullshit. And they also removed the self-audit feature which was there just a couple of days ago.
26  Economy / Speculation / BITCOIN BROKE into $400's again. POSSIBLY ANOTHER CRASH COMING. on: December 19, 2013, 01:03:35 AM
Bitcoins tempory rise was very weak today. Looks like another temporary price point before a further fall, just like when we stopped at $900, $800, $700's.

All signs pointing for another crash, people are starting to sell. When China wakes up they will start to dump in mass again.
27  Economy / Speculation / To buy or not to buy, that is the question on: December 18, 2013, 07:54:00 PM
Maybe I should buy reasons:

Prices look cheap relative to the prices we just had
Looks like it could continue to go high and higher at this point

Maybe I shouldn't buy reasons:

China was the main reason why the prices rose so much now they are unloading all their coins
Is $575 dollar bitcoins sustainable without china
Prices were below $200 before china stepped in, why shouldn't they go back to that level
Will china start unloading tomorrow when they wake up
Are we just stabilizing here before we drop even further just like we have at $900, $800, $700
Will new buyers really want to fork over $600 or more dollars for a coin that just fell 50% from its highs, and china is no longer in the game

Hmmm.. What do you think?

28  Economy / Speculation / HOLY CRAP!! BITCOIN at $400's on Mt Gox. CRASH HAS NO END IN SIGHT!!!! on: December 18, 2013, 08:43:14 AM
Bitcoin broke $500, falling fast. Will probably stabilize under $300!

This is getting as good as that drop to $2.00!
29  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin BROKE INTO $500's on GOX! CRASHING FAST! on: December 18, 2013, 05:37:43 AM
Gox under $600 dollars. Everything is free falling. China selling off like crazy.
30  Economy / Speculation / Who is buying bitcoins at what many said in the past are cheap prices now? on: December 17, 2013, 03:42:42 AM
Who is buying? Even in the bear forum the accepted low was $600's for the bottom.

We are there! Who is buying?

Who thought $600's was the low but is now rethinking that we will go lower than $600?
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / We got QUARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRKEEEEEED on: December 17, 2013, 02:25:52 AM
This stock was hyped garbage. I should have known better when their was 280 million shares and the price was ridiculously high. Should have also cashed out when the insiders started to dump massive amount a couple of days ago. They obviously knew what was coming.

32  Economy / Speculation / Its looking Ugly, and will get worse! on: December 17, 2013, 02:08:16 AM
I'm feeling your pain, because I decided to buy 3 bitcoins around $700-900 to play around with. Now I am in the process of liquidating all my positions. Luckily 1 of my positions is up so much that I am breaking even right now. My goal is to break even and get out, just like I did in 2011 when I decided to buy a few to speculate with on mt gox.

So I feel your guys pain with the losses that will come. I am also taking losses, however small.

Many people could not understand why I never invested in bitcoins after the first bubble, watching the price fall from $30 to $2.00. Now you will hopefully understand. You will also understand more after a long prolonged fall as this is just the start. You will see just how ugly speculating is.

A fall from $30 to $2.00 is like a fall from $1000 to $66 dollars. You would also be doubtful about bitcoins at $66 after a long fall like that when bitcoins were only selling for $13 in January. Anyway, times were different then and bitcoins are much more tested and popular now so it would be easier to speculate at $66 dollar bitcoins than it was in 2011 and early 2012 when anything could have happened.

Hopefully your all slowly exiting and cashing in at the still high prices you can get.

33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptsy bitcoin deposits have not posted to my account. Can this be fixed? on: December 14, 2013, 06:58:08 PM
I did email cryptsy already but being impatient because I just started to actually use bitcoins and not sure how this problem can be fixed.

I was looking at my cryptsy deposits and noticed my last two bitcoin deposits have not posted. They both have over 50 confirmations in my bitcoin wallet for the two transfers. They were sent about 10 hours ago.

I was wondering, is a problem like this fixable? Is the information in my bitcoin wallet enough to show and prove that I made the deposits to them? Or should I expect the worst?

All my other bitcoin deposits went through fine, I always used the same address to send the bitcoins.

35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Need help from day traders, I think I just did some bad trades. Stupid me. on: December 14, 2013, 12:05:21 AM
Just did a stupid thing, should have known better really but I'm new to all of this.

I accumulated copperlark at around $.30 to $.35. Not much just around 350 of this particular coin.

Then I happened to be online now in cryptsy and saw someone buying large amounts of it at $.70.

So I figured let me sell 100 at that price. As He was buying way above anybody elses offer. I figured worse case most of these alt-coins fall down after being pumped.

Then he ups the price to $1.00 for a small amount. I hesitate thinking, I should only sell some at this price and wait.

Then he pulls the $1.00 price and sells for $.79 cents again. I said, shit I should have sold it at $1.00.

Then he puts a huge buy back up for $1.00 so I decide to sell the rest at $1.00, thinking I made a good profit from $.30 to $1.00. Even though I knew I should not have sold.

Then he puts a buy order to buy everything up to $1.50. Shit, I just lost 350 * $.50 cent or $175 dollars if I just waited.

Then it gets worse, he is buying everything on cryptcy up to $2.00. Shit I just lost $350 dollars if I would have just waited and not have been so stupid.

So stupid, I wish I never even came online at the time and he may continue to buy everything at $2.00 putting a $2.00 floor up. I just never figured someone could buy the entire market like that.

please help me daytraders. What should I do in situations like this? Is it just best to always  hold? I want to learn my mistake as I am new to this and do not want to do a stupid thing again.

36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How do you guys keep track of all your alt-coins on: December 12, 2013, 06:31:01 PM
Just wondering how you guys stay organized.

How do you keep track of all of them?

Do you write down what you paid for each coin?

Should their be a limit on how many you keep at the exchanges? Should you pull them out immediately and store them in your wallet?

37  Economy / Speculation / Serious bitcoin price discussion. Bears only please. How far will it drop? on: December 12, 2013, 05:58:03 PM
Please only serious posts by bears only. I need a discussion on how far you think this price will drop.

I am slowly buying bitcoins for non-bitcoin investments that are somewhat price related to bitcoins. I am only investing in non-bitcoin investments which are still cheap even if bitcoin falls below $300.

I personally believe the price is still way too high and all the signs are pointing for a big drop. Volume is also super low which usually means further drops are coming. Bitcoin has been nothing but weak the last few days and I expected the price to be in the $700's when I woke up this morning.

How far do you think this will one go until the price finally stabilizes? I am thinking around $300-500, since I always undershoot it will probably fall in the $600's.

What are you guys thinking? Where do you see bitcoin finally falling and stabilizing at?
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can we make a child board "speculation" for alternate cryptocurrencies? on: December 11, 2013, 04:49:40 PM
The speculation child board was created for bitcoin in 2011 after too many speculation threads were being made in other areas.

I think it is time that we have a speculation child board for alt-coins as the main board is too filled.

39  Economy / Speculation / Why was that bearish bitcoin price point post deleted? details here on: December 11, 2013, 04:41:04 PM
About 10 hours ago some user came on here and wrote a very good post about the bitcoin price falling. He listed it in about 6  reasons numbered like this giving very good facts about why the price will fall from here. Odd thing is I can't find this post?

1)
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)

Some of the reasons that I remember were that some company took a leveraged position (or maybe people used this company to take a leveraged position) into bitcoin (in the millions) and that was the reason for the recent rise.
Also other reasons of weak demand etc.

Maybe someone here remembers seeing this. Weird thing is it was one of the best analysis I have seen that explained bitcoins recent run up to $1000 which has made no sense to me.
I wanted to ask the original poster more about this company or people using a company to take a leveraged position in bitcoins.

Anyway, this post seems to have been deleted. I checked my history and checked all posts in the speculation thread and can't seem to find it. Maybe I missed it though.

Do any of you remember this?

Do you think the Deutche E-mark is a good buy at its current price? Where do you see the price of this coin going to?
