1  Economy / Service Announcements / CryptoThis - Live-Updating Bitcoin Difficulty Visualizer/Estimator site on: November 22, 2017, 07:09:23 AM
I'm still adding features to this, but here's my latest creation...

I noticed that bitcoinwisdom's difficulty estimator seems to be broken lately, and fork.lol's estimator uses the average of the last 12 hours of blocks which causes some estimate oscillations, I decided to whip up my own.  It's a live-updating visualization of all blocks in the current difficulty period, with some stats including a live projection of the next difficulty adjustment (using the average rate of all blocks mined so far in the current period).  All times displayed are in your local time.  Enjoy!

Please let me know if you have any suggestions or features you'd like added.  Thanks!

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / which coins need a new pool? on: June 19, 2017, 05:03:04 PM
I'm gearing up to launch a new mining pool...  I'm just curious which coin you all would suggest I launch first.  Something new/small?  I'm open to anything that has some demand or need for a new pool.  Thoughts?

Second question...it looks like uNOMP is now no longer under development/support?  Is there a better alternative these days?  It's been a minute since I ran a pool...

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [POLL] Which altcoin should replace Auroracoin in the ALTDEX? on: April 15, 2014, 03:48:35 PM
In light of the recent decimation of Auroracoin's value, ALTDEX is most likely going to be removing Auroracoin from the index and replacing it with a more stable/valuable altcoin.  Please vote if you'd like to have some say in the future of this altcoin total market index...we already have a couple front runners in mind, but we want to get a sense of what the community prefers to see included in the ALTDEX going forward.

For reference, ALTDEX is currently comprised of the following ten altcoins:
  • Litecoin
  • Peercoin
  • Dogecoin
  • Nxt
  • Namecoin
  • Primecoin
  • Feathercoin
  • Vertcoin
  • Novacoin
  • Auroracoin
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN] Altdex.org | Altcoin Total Market Index [Beta] on: April 03, 2014, 11:09:42 PM

I'd like to announce a small beta project of mine: Altdex.org.  It is meant to be a market index (a la S&P 500, Wilshire 5000, etc) representing nearly all of the altcoin market capitalization.  Think of it as an indicator of the overall health of the altcoin economy.  The index recalculates every 60 seconds, and incorporates individual coin market caps, the current USD price of bitcoin, and more.  No need to refresh the page, new data is pulled in automatically.

Keep in mind, I'm still tinkering with things a bit.  I look forward to making this even more useful as an indicator of the altcoin economy...  If I can find the time, I plan to eventually introduce a number of other cryptocurrency market indices, both broad and narrow.

I welcome all feedback, suggestions, and questions!
10  Other / Beginners & Help / First post! My cryptocurrency investment strategy on: January 16, 2014, 05:22:49 PM
I'm the sort of person who is quite enthusiastic about investments in general.  I use a variety of investment vehicles:  401k, Roth IRA, DRIPs, 529, P2P Lending, and now of course, cryptocurrencies.  This is my crypto-investment plan at the moment:

- mine on multipools for scrypt coins (my current favorite is trademybit.com, a mere 0.5% mining fee!)
- auto-sell my scrypt coins for BTC/LTC
- keep some percentage of my BTC/LTC balance, and sell the rest for USD$ (pays for the mining overhead and provides dollar-cost averaging for my coins)

This way, I generate a USD income stream, but also build BTC/LTC balances for long term holdings.  I'm mining scrypt at about 800kh/s but will probably expand to a second, larger rig later this year.  What do you guys think?  All comments appreciated!
