41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Altcoin Council - [Poll] Who do you want on the council? on: August 12, 2014, 09:50:30 PM
A lot has been going on in the altcoin community from scams to conspiracies and coin saturation. Recently a member on this forum made an attempt to become the only mod of the altcoin forum, having a mod here would result in some coins getting the upperhand an unfiar bias and judgment. I think having an altcoin Council is a far better idea and will be more beneficial to the altcoin community.

The Cryptocurrency market currently has a marketcap of about $7.9 billion and $7.47 billion of that market cap belongs to Bitcoin. That leaves just about $400 million marketcap between all the other currencies if you factor in the fact that litecoin is almost half of that $400 million, you leave a valuation of only $200 for 500 listed coins and thousands of unlisted.

The only reason Bitcoin is more valuable then other altcoins is first mover advantage. It's the truth if you compare bitcoin to a lot of alt coins on the technical side Bitcoin is lacking heavily. If the Protocol was updated to do something more like a lot of altcoins do I feel this is what would truly make the Bitcoin price sky rocket. For example Namecoin had a huge innovation on its hands with its integrated domain system that could lead to the web becoming decentralized. Imagine if bitcoin integrated something like that we wouldn't just see money 2.0 but we would see the internet 2.0 with the internet truly becoming decentralized and we would see massive growth in market cap. However it seems many people in the Bitcoin community look down on any new innovation and don't want to see the protocol progress.

Because of this stiffeling of innovative prevalent in the Bitcoin community along with its market cap already at about $8billion it is hard to see gains of %10000+ that used to be prevalent. That us were alt coins come in, a lot of altcoins give newcomers a chance to make a lot of money in this emerging market similar to the early adopters of Bitcoin.

The Altcoin Council will promote the altcoin scene and show the world that Bitcoin isn't the only cryptocurrency. We will fund add campaigns, insight new innovation and grow the community along with many more things that will take alt coins far.

So vote on who you think should be on this council, I will add some names to the list and I will take your suggestions for anyone else I should add to the list. Everyone has the ability to change their vote so if you see a new person added that you think should be on the council you can change your vote to vote for them.

43  Other / Meta / Why is Sirius only a staff member? Shouldn't he atleast be admin? on: August 11, 2014, 09:26:51 PM
Why is Sirius only ranked as a staff member when he's co creator of the forum? It's not like he disapeared like satoshi either because his last login day is july 30th 2014 and he/she's active. Shouldn't he at least have administrator privileges?

48  Other / Off-topic / The Forum Prophecy on: August 09, 2014, 06:02:30 AM
First there was Satoshi accross the glistening lake.

Then in came Karpeles the trickster his stories were fake.

BitcoinExpress his hashing power was blessed.

Spoetnik the fool most definately a tool.

Theymos wrote soon after Sirus became a ghost.

But threw the mist came the one that was spoken of, threw whisperes accross all the lands. This one was not the hero that was deserved but the one that was needed. The CryptoKnight Cryptopaths stormed threw the glass and brought peace to the forums at last.
49  Other / Meta / New Section Suggestion - Groups on: August 09, 2014, 03:30:23 AM
On forums I have been on there is usually a section titled groups. In the groups section is were members and staff/admin can create groups that they would like. For example someone that likes to mine would create a miner guild/group and that group would be about mining. Someone else could create a guild/group for development, graphics, media etc. you get the point. There can be both official and non official groups, requirments can be made by group leaders and reqiests can be made from people on the forum to join the groups. The addition of this section doesn't require any additional featurues that the forum doesn't already have so you wouldn't need to wait for the new forum software to roll this new section out.

Groups are great way for the community members to work closer together and be a part of something they are interested in while at the same time furthering the Crypto community as a whole. Group events can be held and groups can sell there own products. Groups can also be a new source of income in some forums you can pay membership fees to be a part of certain groups for the value they hold and groups can also be sold. On one forum I sometimes frequent a group is currently being auctioned for about $20,000.

I very much like the idea of groups and I feel it gives forums a feel of identity and distinguishes certain aspects of the forum. What are your thoughts?

55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Retail adoption hurts bitcoin price it doesn't help it and here's why on: August 07, 2014, 04:43:14 PM
When a big company or even a little shop starts to accept bitcoin people start to get excited and think this adoption will result in the bitcoin price shooting up. Well I'm here to tell you the exact opposite is what actually happens. If a store or big company accepts bitcoin that's all fine and great but they're not holding on to it they're immediately dumping it in most cases and this will just result in the price getting lower. Places that keep the Bitcoin they get are keeping the price higher but they are a minority most just instantly dump upon receival of the bitcoin. We don't need to just get stores to accept bitcoin we need to show them the true value of it and why they should even themselves use it as a currency and not just dump it as some worthless commodity which some believe it to be. If we do this we will see a real increase in price.

57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Super Computing Network of Bitcoin and how to utilize it - Internet 2.0 on: July 24, 2014, 07:17:37 AM
If the computing Network of Bitcoin was directed at something tangible and naturally occurring it could in turn increase the price and value of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the biggest computing Network in the world if we put that to use similar to what Namecoin is doing we could revolutionize this space again and in turn sky rocket the price of Bitcoin. Think about it domain names are distributed very centrally for what is supposed to be a decentralized internet, if Bitcoin used it's computing power to do something like decentralizing the internet theres no question that value would sky rocket because now we actually have some inherent value. Bitcoin was innovative 5 years ago when it was created it revolutionized money it was money 2.0 Now 5 years later Bitcoin can revolutionze the internet and become the internet 2.0.

I am already working on something like this and I really feel this is what Bitcoin needs to see that explosive growth and excel again this is what will take us to the masses. If there are any other developers interested in this and wanting to see this happen please feel free to join in seeing as this is a group effort. Satoshi had a vision once and look how far that has gotten all of us, now it's our turn to do something and further the protocol. How do you all feel about this?

This can be achieved while still securing the Bitcoin Network.

*I am not talking about just a domain name decentralization I am talking about an internet 2.0 Protocol.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Who wants to make a Google? Bitcoin Start up are the internet 2.0 on: July 23, 2014, 07:59:40 AM
I've been inspired by the stories of start ups of the internet bubble and I got to thinking.

I truly believe the Crypto bubble if you can even call it that can be just as big or even bigger.

We've all heard of the stories of early internet start ups making it big and one of those start ups is one of the biggest companies today, yes that's right Google itself.

So what's stopping us from making our own Google? I'm being serious here, I'm talking to all the innovative entrepeneurs on this forum that have dreams of really doing something in this space. Who here's up for Making the Google of Crypto? We can make the next big start up and all we have to do is put our minds together. The heights we can reach are limitless if we really get things going. If you're interested in getting in on this start up and feel you can really contribute reply here or shoot me a private message.

Edit: Note* I wasn't just saying we should literally make the crypto version of google but if that's what you thinks best then I'm all for it.
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How big do you think the Crypto bubble will get? Compared to internet bubble? on: July 22, 2014, 05:37:39 PM
We are a part of the Crypto bubble the internet bubble 2.0

Crypto is following the same trajectory of the internet. The internet was created and then a couple years later start ups started to pop up.

Bitcoin was created then a couple years later start ups are starting to pop up.

How big do you think this bubble will get?
