1  Economy / Service Discussion / Looking for a reliable and reviewed ETH tracing service on: March 27, 2024, 09:18:38 PM
I invested in an ICO back in 2017 and all 27K ETH were sold at Bitfinex.

Need recommendations for a person/company that can trace the funds at that time and confirm they were actually sold for fiat.

key words: tracing, tracking, research, blockchain analysis

2  Economy / Services / Need a person to research a 187 pages thread on this forum on: March 20, 2024, 09:16:29 PM
I was scammed in an ICO and I am currently collecting evidence for a possible legal case against the scammers.

I am looking for somebody to go though the original thread posted here, collect key information from it and prepare a report.
Paying in BTC and the amount will be agreed beforehand.

Thank you.
3  Bitcoin / Legal / I need help/advice on how to efficiently recover money invested in an ICO on: March 20, 2024, 08:12:23 PM
So back in 2018 I invested 720ETH in what looked like a very promising ICO - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2064991
The team behind it looked very professional, the White paper well written and overall, the idea very promising, so I decided to invest.
Basically the idea was to purchase properties with the invested money and then receive rent based on your invested amount.

From memory around 34k ETH were invested in the project, which were originally sold at $800 each, but because they couldn’t find a bank to hold it they had to buy back ETH and again sell it at $300 at a later date.
Then a number of properties were purchased in Thailand and I started receiving rent until COVID hit us.

There are too many details to mention as to what happened next, but as it stands now the company went in liquidation, which I very strongly believe was a premeditated and planned exit scam.
I have a copy of their entire website + all documents related to the purchase of the properties (deeds, lease agreements).

I am currently preparing a plan of action and any advice is greatly appreciated as I am willing to spend thousands of dollars to try and recover some of my investment.
4  Economy / Service Discussion / FRAUD WARNING: Bitstamp is holding my money hostage and ignoring me for 14 days on: August 11, 2017, 03:37:05 AM
Made a deposit of less than 10K euros and got the usual KYC list of excessive questions, which I promptly replied to.
Since then complete silence, which is now 9 days.
9 days with no reply.

Their customer support is completely inadequate for the types of customers you are serving.
They cannot run an extremely time sensitive trading business and not match it with the same level of support. It just doesn't make sense when dealing with large volumes of currency.
I feel that trying to complaint to Bitstamp will have the same result as screaming in the middle of a forest - I won't be heard and nothing will change.

At this point I am furious as they are holding my money hostage and completely ignoring me.

In these circumstances I feel forced to file an official complaint with the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier in Luxembourg in line with their Out-of-court complaint resolution service.
Additionally based on the excessive and unreasonable level of questioning I feel inclined to also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office as you are registered as a DATA controller with them.

But I would rather talk with them and resolve this.
I emailed the CEO + sent him a message on Linkedin = nothing

Anyone has any suggestions?

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Help me add my Bitcoin related activities on my resume/CV on: June 22, 2014, 01:39:23 PM
So I am updating my Resume/CV and would need some help on what is the best way to add my mining, trading and ASIC reselling activities on my CV, so that it looks great to any potential future employer. Do you think that is a good idea?

I want to add it under Employment history, but can't think of a way to add all 3 activities under one section.
Also how best to describe it with words, so that it sounds really appealing.
Someone came with the "Cryptographic Systems Administrator" in another topic for Bitcoin Mining which sounds great, but maybe too pompous?

Shall I put Bitcoin Miner, Bitcoin Trader and Bitcoin ASIC Reseller under one section with a common title or maybe create 3 as it is easier to describe each activity better.

Any views are much appreciated. Thanks.
6  Local / Offtopic / Is this banknote still legal tender? on: May 10, 2014, 02:26:49 PM
When I was young my father gave me this banknote, which I have kept ever since:

Is it still valid?
If not when did it stop being valid?
Can I go to a bank in Romania and exchange it for Euro?

Thank you.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Steal coins from unencrypted wallet after encryption on: January 08, 2014, 05:08:02 PM
Imagine the following scenario: a thief had managed to steal an unencrypted wallet long time ago, which I now decide to encrypt and use.
If he doesn't know the encryption password, but has the same wallet from before encrypting it, can he spend any coins that I put in the wallet after encrypting it?

Thank you.

12  Bitcoin / Pools / GHash.io Workers Share of the Income on: December 19, 2013, 02:14:37 PM
For all the people mining at Ghash.io - is there a way to know how much each of my workers have contributed towards the total mined BTC?

At Bitminter I have to do that manually - under My Account/Workers I can see how much total proofs of work each worked have submitted and from there I can calculate each worker share of the total BTC mined.

15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Yubikey and Bitcoin Security on: November 29, 2013, 03:00:30 AM
I've been looking for ways to make Bitcoin and Bitcoin related services that I use more secure and have found Yubikey (the generic one and not the MTGox one). But after some research a few things are still unclear to me:

1 - The Yubikey can only be used in Static Password mode for encrypting the Bitcoin wallet. Correct?
2 - How secure is using the Yubikey in Static Password mode. Can a software keylogger record the password being sent form the Yubikey to the Bitcoin-QT application?
3 - What is the difference between OATH-HOTP and OTP mode in easy to understand terms?
4 - Which mode of the Yubikey corresponds to Google Authenticator on Android?
5 - I read that Yubikey uses an authentication server. So how does that work exactly? Does it do some online check every time I press the button?
6 - How secure do you think it is in general? Is it a good layer of security for any online services (exchanges, online wallets, etc)
7 - Can I use 1 Yubikey for more than 1 service/website or is this a security flaw?

Thanks to anyone who can answer any of my questions Smiley

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 36BTC in tx fees - How to work with blockchain.info? on: November 09, 2013, 06:41:52 PM
So in the pool I am mining I got paid double the usual amount for a block we found, which made me check why.
It turns out the block has 36.71549047 BTC in tx fees:
https://blockchain.info/block/0000000000000004b5916721388de1d48fa49d633b19f5e3dedf7716ac9a2dd5

Can anyone write an easy to follow tutorial (for idiots) on how am I supposed to interpret all the data on that website.

I'm trying to find the address of the guy/guys who paid so much in tx fees, but I don't even know where to look?

Thanks.
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / KNCMiner - Collection from Stockholm for UK residents on: September 26, 2013, 05:19:53 PM
I'm seriously considering to get a refund on the delivery charges ($240 for 2 Jupiters) and go get them myself.
I spoke with Sam today, who was absolutely certain that all orders will be ready by 15th October ad he will be able to give me at least a 48h notice of when they will be ready to collect.
So I did some research and here are my findings:

  • RyanAir seems the cheapest
  • RyanAir offers to buy and Extra Item Seat* so I can buy a single ticket to go there and basically 2 singles to come back - around $100
  • The miner fits just perfectly within the hand baggage allowance - 7kg and 50x40x20cm vs 10kg and 55x40x20cm, so will just put it in a strong plastic bag.
  • Airport Security shouldn't be a problem - it's computer hardware with no power supply, batteries or liquids and won't be damaged by the xray scanning machine.

Anyone thinking of doing the same? Have I missed anything, that might impede my return back to UK?

* - To book an extra seat for an item the word "ITEM SEAT" must be entered as the surname and "EXTRA" must be entered at the first name. EXTRA ITEM SEAT will then be displayed on the reservation and online boarding pass. The accompanying passenger's travel document details must be entered during the online check- in process. Reserved seating in emergency rows 1,16 and 17 may not be purchased if you have purchased an extra seat for item/comfort
19  Economy / Service Discussion / SEPA Payments to/from UK bank account on: August 14, 2013, 12:52:58 AM
Can you please let me know if I understood things correctly Smiley

So SEPA withdrawals can only be made if I have euros in MTGox or any other exchange. If I have USD then I'll have to buy Bitcoin and sell them for euro?

I'm based in the UK and I want to know what will happen if I request a SEPA withdrawal - is that even possible if I give UK bank account details.

I just spoke with my bank and they said they only support SWIFT international transfers and the guy wasn't even aware of what SEPA is.

My questions are valid for all exchanges btw.

P.S - I am aware of the looooong delays in MTGox withdrawals.
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / ASIC Miners Hosting Options in London/UK on: August 08, 2013, 10:54:11 PM
Let's discuss the hosting options here in the UK.

I'm interested in the option of renting a small office. What are the monthly rates in zones 3/4 and are all the bills usually included?
Or maybe self storage, but I doubt they have electricity or internet connection in the rooms.
Data centres?
Any other alternatives?
