Thanks,

147  Economy / Securities / Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive Resurrected on[Havelock] on: March 06, 2012, 06:48:18 AM

Important Update!
Hello Shareholders!

This Saturday, I proudly opened the box containing one of our two Avalon miners that we have purchases using a total of 900 of our treasury shares. The second Avalon will be mailed to us tomorrow and online by the end of the week!

Additionally, BFL is making great progress in shipping their SC Singles, which we have a very early pre-order for seven of! These units run at ~60gh/s each.

Our current hashrate: 83 gh/s

Our hashrate at the end of the week: 153 gh/s

Our hashrate after the BFL units are delivered (soon): 573 gh/s

Our hashrate after the BFL and Avalon chips are delivered (September): 960 gh/s

Our hashrate after all of the above and we spend our remaining treasury shares + growth funds: 1.1+ th/s (1100 gh/s)

In addition to all of this good news: as of last week Cognitive has paid out OVER 1000 bitcoins in dividends! For our current inventory and total dividend history you can always refer to http://cognitivemining.com/

These are going to be a very exciting few months for Cognitve Smiley

Cheers,
Garrett

For those interested, I maintain a history of the OP of this thread here: http://cognitivemining.com/archives.html

Read the thread for most recent info!

This is a venture that started in March of 2012 to give investors the opportunity to own a portion of a FPGA mining cluster.

We currently use a large diversity of mining equipment, and always aim to invest in the latest and most efficient mining hardware. On the website, http://cognitivemining.com/ you can find our current inventory and dividend history. From March 2012 through October 2012, this asset was publicly traded on GLBSE, with asset ID Cognitive. From December 2012 through October 2013, we have been trading on the fantastic exchange, BTC-TC. Now, we have finally relisted on Havelock, which has served us very well so far and I expect nothing less in the future. This transition from BTC-TC to Havelock is our third exchange move. Not many assets have lived through GLBSE then BTC-TC and now Havelock, but Cognitive will proudly surge forward!

We currently own 19 x6500s, Seven SC Singles, and Four Avalons that are happily hashing away, and over 28TH of CoinTerra machines scheduled for a January delivery, but delayed into February.

The original contract is as follows:

Cognitive Mining (asset id Cognitive) was created with the intent to give investors the opportunity to participate in FPGA Bitcoin mining without purchasing their own hardware. 100% of mining revenue will be distributed proportionally among shareholders. One share of the asset gives you one share of the revenue. Operating costs will be paid for by shares held by the operator of the asset. Each share represents a share in the ownership of the hardware. Motions to sell more shares can be raised by shareholders if 25% agree. 70% of shareholders will need to agree to issue the proposed shares. In the event of liquidation, all revenue will be distributed evenly to shareholders. The operator reserves the rights, regardless of the amount of shares owned, to raise a motion, and sell all hardware. Dividends will be paid weekly. Further information can be found at http://cognitivemining.com/

If you have any questions, comments, or criticism, I appreciate it!

Thanks,
Garrett

I shall not be held responsible for any kind of monetary loss as a result of interacting with Cognitive.

148  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / We're 30,300 blocks from the reward drop! on: March 05, 2012, 06:00:00 AM
I am starting to wonder whether GPU miners will keep going at it or not. Then the market will be flooded with 5xxx and 6xxx series GPUs driving the prices way down. In the future there will be those with free electricity, and those with FPGAs.
What are your opinions?
149  Economy / Goods / [WTB] Empty Prepaid Visa/Amex Cards on: March 04, 2012, 08:42:58 AM
If you have one of these don't just trash it, send me the numbers and I'll send you a coin! I use these to get free trials on web sites that require you to input a CC.
Just send me all the numbers, including expiration date, security code, name and address associated with the card, along with an address and I'll verify that it works and send you 1BTC within a day.

Please do not send me any non-prepaid or stolen cards. I'd rather not cause grief for anyone.

Thanks,
Garrett
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [LTC] Where should I put my 100kh/s? on: March 02, 2012, 07:23:00 AM
I have a good hash rate. Should I be solo or pool mining? Right now I'm giving it all to ejpool.
Advice is appreciated Smiley

Just for anyone interested, it works!

I have no idea if it's going to end up being profitable, because the price of litecoin is not even close to stabilizing.
If anyone wants this set up for them, the price is 77 LTC Cheesy

G'day, mates!
152  Economy / Services / {nope} on: February 29, 2012, 02:50:17 AM
I just saw someone doing this on a Bitcoin auction site, so I thought I'd just let everyone know I'll do the same service.

I can add up to 8gb of space to your account, assuming you haven't successfully invited anyone to Dropbox using your referral link.

How it works: You send me that magical referral link, and I'll sign up a bunch of accounts with it on a bunch of virtual machines, giving you 250mb/referral until it hits it's max of 8gb.

You could (easily) do this yourself, but if you don't want to or don't have the resources to set up a bunch of VMs, I'll do it for you!

Just send me that referral link of yours and .25BTC for every GB you want me to increase your account by. I'll send you an address after you PM me/post back here.

Thanks!

153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Will Litecoin Prosper? on: February 25, 2012, 08:07:32 AM
There has yet to be a Bitcoin derivative that has come close to being half the price of a Bitcoin. I just one other peoples' opinions on the matter. I think it could help the crypto-economy if we had multiple currencies once the user base is large enough, but might also hinder it. If people choose one currency over the other this creates competition. Competition could go either way, raising or lowering the value of the coin. I just spent a few Bitcoins on a new CPU cooler to Litecoin mine with, and I've made about $0.80 mining with 30kh/s for a day or two. Maybe this is like Bitcoin, where the price skyrockets after it is publicized, making early adopters and on time sellers rich.

Opinions?
154  Economy / Lending / [Fulfilled] 2BTC Loan - 1 Week payback, different interest options on: February 16, 2012, 03:14:10 AM
I want to buy a phone from the user Vitaliy for 10btc. I have already given him 5btc, and I just bought three from a friend, so I need the remaining 2btc. To pay for the loan I will be willing to give you about 800 mhash/s for 24 hours. I will also return the 2btc in about a week, (as soon as the Dwolla/Gox stuff clears). Reply here or PM to let me know and get my address.

Loan has been given

Thanks,
Garrett

157  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoin Dispenser - Inspired by the Faucet. on: February 13, 2012, 03:36:33 AM
For the last few months on and off I've been putting this together. It is essentially a Bitcoin lottery, but without a buy-in. I rely solely on donors for keeping this alive, and I think it would be a fun thing to do. I'm going to reset all the submissions that have been gathering over the last few months seconds before posting this thread, so everyone will have a considerably good chance at winning.

You can submit your Bitcoin address or donate here: http://dispenser.bitbank.me/

Good luck!

(Also, I'm looking for a good deal on a FPGA miner. If you know of a good one that you have experience with, either DIY or pre built, I'd love to hear about it.)

Make an offer.

159  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Excessive Mobo Heat. on: February 08, 2012, 12:11:59 AM
My motherboard is running between 60C and 63C while mining.
It is an ASUS Sabertooth X58.
I have two OCd 5850s that run around 75C.

I'm wondering if this is simply because the (open bodied) cards are throwing off a bunch of heat inside the case, or if it could be something else.

Thanks,
Garrett
160  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Using multiple PSUs - Does anyone actually do it? on: January 25, 2012, 06:25:23 AM
As I said in my other post here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=60928.0
I am going to attempt to use an older PC to mine, using PCI > PCI-e risers, assuming they do exist, I have yet to find them, and wouldn't doubt that they don't.
I also will be having a power issue if I choose to add more than one card.

The current PSU is 250W, which I hope I'll be able to leave powering the lot of the computer.
I plan to use the 500W PSU I have laying around to power just the GPUs and the powered risers to them. (Yes I know you need to start both PSUs simultaneously and how to do it)

My main question is: What are the dangers of doing this, and if any, how to prevent them.

I do have limited resources as a 16 year old, so building a new rig really isn't an option. (Why else would anyone go to this much trouble to convert an old PC into an unstable mining rig?) For fun maybe? Whatever.

I do take criticism positively, so if you think this is just plain stupid, please, let me know.

Thanks for the help,
Garrett
