321  Economy / Gambling discussion / I have an idea about betting on bitcoin on: July 05, 2020, 07:19:47 PM
I have an idea. I will not implement it, I don't know if already it exists, but I would like to post it. Tell me, if it would be dumb.

These days, there are many online casinos with games like poker. I wonder, how would a betting price site would be?

Like betting 0.01BTC on the price of bitcoin. If, I've bet that by tomorrow it will have pass 10,000$ I would get the analogous amount of BTC
If the price wouldn't, I would have simply lost my funds. There is a difference with poker here, tho. Central authorities, cannot control it. So the man that has the site, may bankrupt. On the other hand, I think we can admit that online poker (especially with real money) is never on pure luck of the cards.
322  Other / Beginners & Help / What's the point of signing messages? on: July 05, 2020, 07:04:47 PM
What is the point of proving you own an address? Has it ever happened to you, to need it? I mean, yeah, if Satoshi Nakamoto signs a message from the address of genesis block, it is a big thing. But, except from this smart thread that you can prove you own your account, I find it useless. Clever invention, but useless.

Question #2:
I wonder, Satoshi was the first one who implemented blockchain. Was he the first one who invented the signing/verifying thing?
323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Can you hide your identity with bitcoin? (100%) on: July 05, 2020, 05:34:56 AM
I was having an argument with a friend. He says that you can't be anonymous to the bitcoin's network. Both nodes and wallets use, leads to an ip address where information can be found.

I had read in this forum that you can hide it with hardware? How exactly?
324  Economy / Economics / The freer the market, the freer the people? on: July 04, 2020, 08:53:12 PM
The freer the market, the freer the people

Do you agree with that? In this community, the 80% of the members would say yes, because bitcoin is a completely liberal currency. I would just like to know if you disagree or agree and why.

In my opinion, if you leave the market free, both good and bad things will happen, but I think that most of them will be bad. You just can't leave them free. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is something different. It's the thing I exclude from this thought, although, we have left it completely free, and we can see the mountains it has created with its price. Something that isn't good for mankind. Again, in my opinion.
325  Other / Off-topic / If you format a pc, does it make it purely clean? on: July 04, 2020, 05:24:08 PM
Does it? I'm not expert with the viruses...
326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / They say hardware wallets are the safest on: July 04, 2020, 12:50:00 PM
Why do they say that? Correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't, hardware wallet, a hardware like usb, that generates private keys without being online on the internet?

Why do I not like them? Because, in addition with a txt file that you can encrypt with many ways and save it in many places, if your hardware stops working, you're a dead man. And you're going to fix it somewhere? Not that recommended. If you're a paranoid of course.

Prove me wrong, by not telling me the cons of software wallet. Prove me wrong, by telling me the pros of hardware wallet.
327  Bitcoin / Electrum / Have you ever lost funds using electrum? on: July 03, 2020, 08:09:33 AM
Have you ever lost by hackers? If you've been a victim, then it would be a reason to be aware of our funds, but I don't think that it's that easy to happen. If you turn of internet connection for example, generate your addresses and then uninstall electrum.

But if you've ever lost, it would be nice to post it here, so we can have a different perception.
328  Bitcoin / Electrum / How to I get rid of electrum? on: July 02, 2020, 10:57:57 PM
I had installed it months ago, in order to generate an address, and I wanted keep that address' private key somewhere safe. I did. And then, uninstalled electrum. But few minutes ago I needed to generate another address so I downloaded it again. When I opened it after the installation it seems that it "remembered" my previous wallet's name. How is this possible? Because I'm a little paranoid.

Also, what's the point of that seed since I have the private key in a safe place?
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Realtime Bitcoin Globe - How is this possible? on: July 02, 2020, 05:36:26 PM
https://blocks.wizb.it/

In this site it shows a bitcoin realtime transaction globe.

Are these IP addresses from bitcoin nodes? You can notice that sometimes they are the same. Does it have to do with the selected IPs of wallets?

If yes then, the nodes' owners know who is sending the funds, right? Is this good?
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How do we really know how many bitcoins does satoshi have? on: July 01, 2020, 05:34:53 PM
Since we know very few things about that person, I don't get how we assumed that he has 1.000.000+ million bitcoins. Did we? Or there's a proof? Because even on 2010-2012 (last years that was active and the bitcoin network didn't need that much CPU) he would need to mine at least 20.000 blocks. Aren't they too much?
331  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How do I compile bitcoin's source code files? on: June 29, 2020, 09:43:50 PM

So I have this bunch of files. How do I compile them as an executable one? By googling I only see for ubuntu and mac. I have windows 7.
332  Other / Off-topic / The Bitcoin Meme/Gif Thread! on: June 29, 2020, 04:54:54 PM
I've seen some hilarious bitcoin memes and gifs in the internet. I would like to see if you have found anything too.

333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Who got the 10.000 bitcoins for the 2 pizzas? on: June 29, 2020, 09:59:08 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137.0

Here laszlo, the hero without a cape, bought 2 pizzas with 10.000BTC

Do we know who got the money? Did he ever revealed the TX ID?

Is this guy?

334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Didn't satoshi revealed himself during the domain purchasement? on: June 25, 2020, 06:04:46 PM
Didn't satoshi revealed any important credentials when he bought the bitcoin.org? Are there any links so I can read the whole story, because I had read somewhere that the place that he bought his domain, was an anonymous place (that was accepting bitcoins in the later years).
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why people are happy only when the price goes up? on: June 25, 2020, 06:00:17 PM
Especially in the wall observer, you will see people that want bitcoin's price to get increased. Although, if bitcoin price goes down, it's good for many people too. For example, I want to get decreased so I can buy more BTC

If we assume that there are only people with huge fortunes on bitcoin, then yes, it's too bad if the price goes down. But, except from those guys, there are the ones who are waiting to buy more. We never heard anything from them  Roll Eyes
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why did dogecoin survive? on: June 24, 2020, 04:18:47 PM
If I'm correct, it's almost the same thing with bitcoin? It reached 0.01$ once but since then, its price is decreasing.
337  Local / Ελληνικά (Greek) / Έχετε αγοράσει ποτέ από Bitcoin ATM; on: June 23, 2020, 11:31:50 AM
Πώς είναι; Απλά πας, δίνεις μετρητά και το address σου; Το fee ας πούμε το πληρώνεις εσύ ή ο άλλος; Επίσης γίνεται να πας και να πουλήσεις εκεί;
338  Other / Meta / Why does bitcointalk allows signatures? on: June 23, 2020, 11:29:19 AM
In my opinion, bitcointalk should not allow anyone to add a custom signature. What's the point? Many many members use them to advertise services. They have seen it like a business, but it's just a forum.

I read posts and I always get advertised, and it gets annoying sometimes. Since there are no many admins/mods online, so they could penalize those who advertise, they can simply disable the signature system that doesn't provide anything important.
339  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How is the correct time been submitted in mining? on: June 15, 2020, 05:47:45 PM
When miners find the perfect target they start sharing their success in the network and the network confirms it. But how is the time been correct? I mean, when you hash the block header, you hash the up-to-date time too. If the UTC is right now 17:45, what will stop me from writing 17:50 onto the block header?

I'm asking because block explorers have written the exact time when the block was hashed, this is how I got that query in my mind.
340  Economy / Scam Accusations / Whoever did this will go to hell - Bitcoin scam on: June 15, 2020, 03:02:31 PM
"Jeff Bezos is giving away 5000 BTC"

Yes it sounds silly, but a person started a youtube livestream, added thousands of bots and it was looking legit. I don't have the youtube link, because the channel got banned. Although, there are some people that got fooled by that. Here is the address:
1Amazon1aUWx7kzjzGRGmkEjDLtYZyMzom

In the video Jeff Bezos was talking to his interviews, and there were texts saying "If you send x bitcoins you will get 2x bitcoins"

The guy earnt $20k+ and this has been repeated again by another youtube video ("Elon Musk is giving away 5000 BTC")
