1  Bitcoin / Electrum / URGENT is electrum affected? on: May 11, 2021, 07:41:53 PM
Hi, the guys at cakewallet have warned people who had a 12 word wallet in their old version.
Is electrum affected by the same problem too?

2  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Can't access my money because of the derivation path on: August 09, 2020, 08:38:07 AM
Hi, so my friend has a coinbase wallet (stupid, I know). So he has 0.22 btc in this address

bc1q6lm6xa4fgcfxhvge06q3x2j0unqth4k3q56az0

he uninstalled his coinbase wallet app and then he installed it again. The app gave him the same username of course, but it gave him a total new address, which of course is empty.

I've read that coinbase wallet does this to improve privacy by changing addresses all the time. The problem is that now my friend can't get access to his address again.
I tried to help him to get back to it via Electrum but we failed. We tried 3 different derivation paths

m/44'/60'/0'/0/1

m/44'/60'/0'/0/0

m/84'/0'/0'

all the wallets created with his seed (that he has and is correct) and these derivation paths are empty. So it must be another derivation path.

Can we know the exact derivation path so that he can get access to his address with his money inside?

3  Economy / Service Discussion / I can't withdraw my tips on reddit on: August 09, 2020, 04:14:09 AM
Hi, so I have received some tips on reddit in the past. I tried to withdraw them, failed and let it go. Now I received another tip and I tried again. I made a phoenix wallet, copied my address and typed

!withdraw lnbc1p0j7a6fpp589ez5pzhz7jf5yntc27qy7c5h9sjydl966ly0nj9mnvqsu5ndzmqdqu2pskwctdv 4h8gmeq2p5x7etwd9uqxqrrss9qtzqqqqqq9qsqsp5jht857yks5k2zyywahr862pul2q7k4ywlrl9y e500nzrdvc59x7qrzjqwryaup9lh50kkranzgcdnn2fgvx390wgj5jd07rwr3vxeje0glcllcz4gqvq 0q345qqqqlgqqqqqeqqjq45tf3yfjptzmr70rlldf03peyyqlep8nkpfx6sg9hgm6an0wggr5rzy9ta shtnd3kmej5ks4jh3crl2r6hq5v8tfg93c4emld6hw86qq2327t8

The system tells me "you didn't have enough funds. Your balance is 0.0 Satoshis". But how is that possible? I have 100 Satoshi as a tip.

Not that I care about the 100 Satoshi, but I'd like to start using the lighting network so that I can send some Satoshi to my friends and hopefully get someone into Bitcoin.

One time I received a bitcoin cash tip and in that case I had no problems to withdraw it. So I'd like to understand what the difference is and why I'm getting this error.
Thanks

4  Other / Off-topic / Video of the dollar crashing and the bitcoin rollercoaster on: July 18, 2020, 07:45:18 AM
I saw a video/gif a few months ago. There is a graph of the dollar losing spending power, the dollar is represented by a bomb riding a roller coaster, when the price falls it becomes bitcoin which then rides the roller coaster upwards this time.

I have looked for it left and right but I couldn't find it.
Do you have it?
5  Bitcoin / Wallet software / My noob questions on: July 06, 2020, 07:10:25 PM
Hello everyone. I believe this is the official forum where it all began, so I feel both excited and a bit embarrassed to write my ignorant questions here.

So I have fallen into the bitcoin hole for the last few months, but I have still a lot of doubts, if it's not a problem with moderators, I'd like to use this discussion to ask various questions regarding bitcoin that will pop to my mind. If it's a problem you can delete the topic.

Question 1: I have a wallet, I have the seed phrase. If I open it with the exodus wallet or the electrum wallet, I see my money. If I open it with atomic wallet, I see my balance at 0. I believe it must be because these wallets contain different kinds of addressed, because if I look at them, I indeed see different addresses. Is this normal? Shouldn't my wallet (whatever it is), see my coins in whichever address they are?
