42  Economy / Marketplace / BitVPS WANTS TO HELP SLUSH -- YOU CAN TOO on: March 01, 2012, 09:58:12 PM
Hi,

Today, Linode was compromised and a lot of users lost a LOT of Bitcoins. One user in particular, was slush. Slush owns/maintains one of the longest running pools and has been an asset to the community since day 1.

Due to the unsettling news of loss that slush has endured; BitVPS will be donating 40% of new user fees directly to slush to help him recoup losses.

Any ex-customers of Linode are more than welcome. Please use coupon code 'SLUSH' during sign up to get 15% off *any* package and 40% of your fee will be donated right to slush.

[slush(~marekp@unaffiliated/slush)] I cannot express how I appreciate this kind of support

Let's show slush how appreciative we can really be.

If you dont want a VPS, donations can be sent directly to us at 1BTL7H2nfBMaKmShK4exL74CaLGvXJjAzZ
I will post a donation address for slush as soon as he works out whats safe/what isn't.

45  Economy / Lending / [REQUEST] Funding for BitVPS.COM on: February 25, 2012, 06:01:28 PM
Hi boys,

BitVPS (BitVPS.COM) is currently seeking a $2100 loan to buy:

2 x 1u Intel Dual Quad cores
2 x HP Raid cards
2 x Set of rails for the servers

We've been in business a few months now and are looking to cut costs by switching to co location instead of renting hardware from our hosts. We are profitable and operate with 0 debt. We can get into company financials for *serious* and interested lenders.

The company is owned and operated by 'rg' and 'grubles'.

Feedback & ratings:

http://bitcoin-otc.com/viewratingdetail.php?nick=rg

Terms of the loan are available by message or email. I prefer not to discuss it out in the open. But basically, it will work out to you making $300 for lending us the money for 6 months.

You can contact me here or at james@bitvps.com

Thanks for looking!

50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Copyright lawyers lurking on Bitcointalk on: January 18, 2012, 09:25:33 PM
Allo gentlemen,

Well its obvious to me that there are pro-lamer DMCA lawyers lurking around the forum now.

What do you think brought them here? (besides the piracy)

I was wondering if theyre utilizing some type of software to search throughout all forums listed on google for keywords (XViD-LoL, etc)?

Anyone have any ideas what kinds of tools these lamers are utilizing?

Cheers,
James
51  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcointalk requesting donations? Wtf? on: December 31, 2011, 08:24:03 PM
Hello noobs,

According to Bitcointalk's donation page they've pulled in roughly ~620BTC from donations alone. On this same page it states that they recieve free hosting and the donations go to 'development of the forum'. I dont know about you guys but I dont see anything on this forum thats not on every other single forum that runs this software.. So if they're a non-profit I'd really like to see the paperwork on that because they have to account for all donations and report it to future donors. Also, If you've ever run an advertisement on Bitcointalk you know how expensive it is.

I'm just wondering where all this money goes? If your costs are $0 .. and you've taken in atleast $1k in donations .. and there have been no improvements on the forum .. How is that a non profit?
I think we should stop donating until we get these answers.. Is this forum really that great? 30% of it is flame wars and trolling. A wise man once said on IRC 'The forums are full of cancer and scammers'.

Cordially Yours,
James L (rg @ freenode)
52  Other / Beginners & Help / Hi from rg. on: November 14, 2011, 09:11:28 AM
Greetings,

I'm rg. I'm the system administrator at btcvps.net and a part owner. I just wanted to go ahead and introduce myself to the forum even though most of you probably already know me from my company and #bitcoin-otc on freenode...

Hi!
