1  Other / Off-topic / Is it normal to not want to work at all? on: February 02, 2021, 06:53:15 AM
It isn't that I hate my current job, it's actually pretty easy and pays enough. I just don't want to go. I think even if I were offered my dream job paying quadruple what I make now, I still wouldn't want to do it. People tell me to find a job I love, but even if I loved it, I still wouldn't want to do it unless there's some way to get paid for watching TV - not writing reviews, not being in a focus group, just sitting quietly at my house watching TV and interacting with no one.

That scene in Office Space where Peter says if he had a million dollars he would do nothing? That's exactly how I feel. I just want to eat, drink and sit here in my chair watching TV or playing video games until I die.
2  Other / Off-topic / What is your job and what does your day in the life look like? on: February 01, 2021, 02:15:04 AM
I work in a central kitchen for Meals on Wheels and we provide anywhere from 400 to 600 meals a day for our county. There are only 4 of us that make the food and one person is in charge of dessert and only works 16 hours a week.

We start our day at 4:30 and the meals go out at 10. We rely on volunteers for help serving and delivery. I think our volunteer count was around 200 last I heard. Most of them are retired or people taking time during their lunch break to deliver 10 to 12 meals for their route. All the food is made from scratch and we run our operation our of an old nursing home kitchen. Our equipment is old and a little run down but we make it work.
3  Other / Off-topic / I feel myself getting dumber each day in quarantine. on: January 31, 2021, 03:26:28 AM
I mean, ideally you take some time to learn a new skill or something, and read books about new things.

But realistically, sometimes you just have to sneak some education into your quarantine coping. We've thrown some more educational shows into our netflix binging. Travel shows, etc.
4  Other / Off-topic / What's the stupidest excuse you heard that turned out to be true? on: January 31, 2021, 01:47:26 AM
In high school my senior English class had a big essay due at the end of the year. Our teacher was very stern about the fact that no excuses would be accepted for it being late. She told us that she had only ever given one extension to a student. Of course we had to ask why. She said a student had come to class on the due date and said she couldn't turn in the paper because the FBI had confiscated the family computer her paper was saved on the night before. The teacher didn't believe it because, come on. The FBI? Turns out the girl had a copy of the police report stating the computer was confiscated as evidence because her dad had downloaded child pornography on it.
5  Other / Off-topic / How do you make friends when you're 30+? on: January 30, 2021, 02:46:47 AM
After many, many years of avoiding most of my neighbors I have spent the last year forcing myself to befriend and actually get to know the people around me (we moved here a year ago so new scenery new outlook I guess). One neighbor sucks butt, three neighbors are awesome, another neighbor is weird (like, weird for me), the new family is great but with something Mormon-y about them.

It's really nice. I like these people and I'm glad they're around my family.
