I realized that investing in dapps is not really good idea b/c there isn't any potential there so the question is, is there any upcoming blockchain platform coin out there?

I know about ArcBlock (ICO ended today), Insight Network, Fund Request, Syncfab, TomoCoin, Orchid Protocol. Is there any more?

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Visa, Capital One Back $30 Million Round for Blockchain Startup Chain on: September 09, 2015, 10:56:48 PM
here is the article http://www.coindesk.com/visa-capital-one-back-30-million-round-for-blockchain-startup-chain/

Blockchain technology startup Chain has raised $30 million in new venture funding, drawing funds from financial services companies including Capital One, Fiserv and Visa.

French telecom giant Orange SA contributed to the round, months after disclosing that it was looking to invest in bitcoin startups, as did Nasdaq, which has been working with Chain, and Citi Ventures.

RRE Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Thrive Capital and SV Angel – existing investors of the firm – also took part, as well as former Bank of America CEO David Coulter, X Prize Foundation CEO Peter Diamandis and MongoDB co-founder Kevin Ryan.

In statements, Chain CEO Adam Ludwin spoke in broad strokes about the larger efficiencies major financial services providers could potential unlock as the technology matures.

Ludwin said:

"Applied intelligently, blockchain networks fundamentally improve how assets move between parties, and we are thrilled to be partnering with the organizations we believe are best positioned to capitalize on the inevitable changes in market structure that are on the horizon."

Those backing Chain also pledged to put together a “Blockchain Working Group” to promote continued and regular discussion about blockchain applications. The group is expected to meet twice a year.

As part of the deal, RRE Ventures founder Jim Robinson will join the startup’s board of directors. Ludwin also notably serves as an RRE principal.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / E-Coin Launches VISA-Branded Bitcoin Debit Card on: September 09, 2015, 10:54:50 PM
here is the article https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/e-coin-launches-visa-branded-bitcoin-debit-card/

Bitcoin start-up E-Coin has launched a virtual bitcoin debit card that works where VISA is accepted. The virtual bitcoin debit card has until now existed in the realm of possibilities largely due to the idiosyncrasies of the global financial system.

E-Coin solves a problem that has affected bitcoin users worldwide. Bitcoin users have had to cope with limited spending opportunities. By combining bitcoin with VISA, users of the virtual prepaid card will now be able to perform all the normal transactions that ordinary cardholders are able to do such as load funds, withdraw, and shop online. The most exciting aspect about E-Coin is its merging of the traditional financial architecture with the new reality of digital currencies. E-Coin currently has about 20,000 customers spread out in 173 countries worldwide.
Setting Up E-Coin

To set up an E-Coin account is easy and straightforward. It was a process that took this writer less than five minutes. Like all other similar products, the E-Coin virtual debit card is subject to withdrawal and spending limits. However these can be increased after submitting verification documents.

The E-Coin card is bound to excite developers and the general crypto community since it now allows anyone to spend bitcoin at any website that does not accept it as yet. In addition, it can also be used for third-party services such as PayPal and ApplePay.

E-Coin also offers physical bitcoin debit cards. The platform is simple to use, and promises customers hassle-free and instant conversion between bitcoin and the three fiat currencies currently available, the dollar, the pound, and the euro. E-Coin is at present not available in some key markets such as the US and India.

CCN interviewed Dmitry Lazarichev, co-founder and spokesperson for E-Coin and the following were his responses to our questions.

How long have you been working on this product?

One year.

In your press release, you said that there have been inconsistencies and friction in the global financial system. What are some of those inconsistencies and friction that you have encountered?

The main problem is that several countries and big markets such US and India are closed for us.

Did regulators in the US and India explain their reasons for denying you access?

We'd need banking partners in these regions to deal with local complaints.

Now that you've sealed this partnership with Visa, could we expect to see partnerships with MasterCard or American Express down the road?

Yes, we might start to work with MC (Mastercard) soon.

In addition to the planned mobile app that you plan to release, could we expect an API that will extend the functionality of your product?

Our mobile app will be ready in 2-3 months and we also offer APIs for partners.

There are several countries in which E-coin is not available. Would you give an approximate time-frame in which you will cover those markets?

It is a very good question. However, it vastly depends on bank regulations and political issues.

What other products and services could we hope to see from E-coin?

We are about to release virtual cards. Also we are going to add some more functionalities for the customers allowing them to earn on the bitcoin rate volatility.

E-Coin will be holding a Q&A on Zapchain. Please click here to register for the event.

16  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] Eight-S1 Antminers (US) Final Price Drop Two Weeks Left on: June 04, 2015, 12:28:08 AM
Currently, I have eight S1's that I would like to sell. All of the S1's have been undervolted with pencil mode. If I remember correctly, it  runs at 120Ghs~130 GHs with 120~130 or 140 watts. I'm selling the each unit at 0.09 btc 0.08 btc. Buyer covers the shipping. If buyers wants escrow, I will cover the expenses, the buyer is responsible.

Before the items are ship, I will air cleaned each unit and it will be reset to original manufacturer setting. In addition to that I would do 5 minute test run to make sure everything is in order. I will try to post result here in near future (few days).

Update : The unit has been tested and the final result came out as 130 GHs/121 Watts. Each unit will be sold as regular S1 not the undervolted version. This is due to some technical issue that I have face when I tried to reset the unit.

Update : There will be no charge if the buyer wants the board itself.

Update : Buy the whole unit than the new final price drop to 0.07 btc but the price remain the same 0.08 btc when the buyers wants the board itself.

Update : I will drop the price to 0.065 btc. If there is no buyers, I will just cancelled it.

Update : It's drop to 0.05 btc each. Few days left
17  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] FOUR-S3 Antminers (US) Final Price Drop Two Weeks Left on: June 01, 2015, 04:13:39 PM
I'm pretty much out of mining game for over month now, so currently I'm selling FOUR S3 antminers for 0.37 each (0.36 btc), 0.35 btc 0.32 btc buyers pays for the shipping. For regarding about the miners, it never been overclock or anything. Every miner has been air cleaned and set to original factory setting (reset). If the buyer desire escrow service than I have no issue with that but the buyer is responsible for that. I will cover the escrow

The pictures was taken yesterday (6/1/2015) to signify that the miners are in working order so I'm not selling defective unit or DOA.

Update : Buyer is responsible for the escrow

Update : If the buyer buys all four units or half of them, the discount of 0.01 btc will be applied. It will be 0.34 btc. If there is no buyers, it will be cancel.

Update : Since it's few days of being cancelled I lowered it to 0.32 btc

I received this miner like this from the bitmaintech (temperature) but I never had any problem with the miner. I didn't sent this miner back to manufacturer b/c of mining time loss

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / (Unofficial) Litecoindark Thread (LTCD Dead-Officially) on: December 26, 2014, 06:43:19 PM
For the record, I'm strong supporter of LTCD from the begining but I feel people voice has been silenced by new litecoindark dev. for some reason and I just feel that there should be open end discussion about the coin whether you have a positive or negative view of the coin.

So far, nothing has been developed or made any new improvement.
