1  Economy / Games and rounds / CONTEST: Guess the price of Bitcoin at the end of 2019 and win $1,000 on: November 08, 2019, 02:31:06 PM

Micky.com.au recently launched a Bitcoin price prediction contest and the prize is AU$1,000. The rules are simple:

1. Fill out the contest form with what you think Bitcoin's price will be (in AUD) on December 31, 2019 at 11:59pm AEST
2. That's it!

The contestant whose guess is closest to the actual price on Digital Surge at the end of 2019 will win the AU$1,000
prize. In the event that more than one contest wins, the prize will be split evenly among the winners.

2  Economy / Exchanges / [2019-10-06] Leading crypto exchange to freeze US customer accounts on: November 07, 2019, 01:57:36 AM

I think Huobi Global handled it a bit more smoothly than Binance did back in June. Binance never came right out and said
"we're banning US customers". Instead, they said "we can't provide services to people who violate our TOS" and then snuck
in the line about US residents not being allowed to use the platform into the word vomit that was its revised TOS.

Cryptocurrency exchanges like Binance and Huobi Global have users all over the world. Operating in so many countries
comes with a unique set of challenges, however, as exchanges must comply with regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

Earlier this week, Huobi Global announced that it would be freezing all of its U.S. customer accounts effective November
13, 2019 (GMT+8).

Citing the repressive and uncertain regulatory status of cryptocurrencies in the United States, the exchange said that it was
forced to ban U.S. customers from its platform.

“In line with the laws and regulations of the United States with respect to crypto assets, our User Agreement expressly
prohibits users in the United States from using our platform.”

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Is SDF doing this because they truly don't feel they need so many XLM or are they doing
it to drive up prices?

The Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) has burned over half of its total token supply of Lumens (XLM), sending prices
soaring more than 26 percent in less than an hour.

Speaking at Stellar’s inaugural Meridian conference in Mexico City on Monday, SDF Executive Director and CEO Danelle Dixon
announced the XLM token burn.

4  Economy / Service Discussion / [2019-10-05] Canadian crypto exchange owner vanishes as regulators close in on: November 05, 2019, 04:15:52 PM

This kind of crap does more damage to crypto than its use in criminal activities. How are mainstream investors supposed
to be confident that they can safely trade on exchanges when exit scams like this keep happening?

In the wake of the QuadrigaCX imbroglio, two more Canadian crypto exchanges are under investigation. Regulators are
investigating numerous complaints and it appears that the owner of at least one of the exchanges has disappeared, taking
users’ funds with them.

The British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) has taken action to protect the customers of two Vancouver-based
crypto exchanges, Einstein Exchange and ezBtc.

The websites for both have recently gone dark leaving customers fearing for their digital assets.

5  Economy / Service Discussion / [2019-11-05] I investigated 3 Bitcoin Revolution scams - here's what I learned on: November 05, 2019, 04:07:05 PM

It's crazy that there are still people out there who think that Bitcoin Revolution is legit. It's clearly a scam and if the
outrageous profit claims don't convince you, the fake celebrity ads should. I created dummy accounts on three of the
BR scam sites just to see what made them tick...

Bitcoin Revolution is an investment scheme that has been operating online for several years and, despite the growing
number of warnings, there are still plenty of people around the world who think that it just might be for real.

Anyone who has spent time in the crypto trenches knows to stay away from Bitcoin Revolution, but that hasn’t stopped
less savvy people from falling prey to its claims of earning massive profits for a minimal investment.

Interest in the investment scheme appears to be especially pronounced in Australia and Europe, where searches for
‘bitcoin revolution’ have climbed higher than 12,000 per month in some countries...

6  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-10-28] Why ‘Bitcoin maximalists are like racists’, according to Roger Ver on: October 28, 2019, 10:44:50 PM
I get being annoyed with people who are so blindly gung-ho about one cryptocurrency that they refuse to
acknowledge that any other crypto could possibly have any merit, but comparing that to racism?

That's a bit much.

Bitcoin Cash’s Roger Ver compares Bitcoin maximalists to racists and says the Australian Government is too
unreasonable to let him visit.

Bitcoin Cash main man Roger Ver has zero time for Bitcoin Maximalists.

Maximalists are, of course, the hardcore fundamentalists of crypto – true believers that the one and only true
coin is Bitcoin and that all other projects are by definition ‘shitcoins’.

“I think it’s kind of like a form of racism and tribalism. It’s like: ‘oh, my group is better than your group’,”
he told Micky.

7  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-10-18] ‘Trojanized’ Tor Browser steals Bitcoin from Darknet users on: October 18, 2019, 05:09:38 PM

The malware also targeted wallets of Russian QIWI users - I wonder how much money was stolen from them
over the years...

A new report has revealed that a trojanized fake Tor Browser has been quietly spying on and stealing Bitcoin
from unwary Darknet users for years.

Aimed at Russian Darknet users, the malware is being spread through two separate websites claiming to be
distributors of the “official” Russian-language version of the popular anonymous web browser.

According to malware researchers at cybersecurity firm ESET, the trojanized Tor Browser appears to be
specifically targeting users of three of the largest Russian-speaking Darknet markets.

Once installed, the browser allows the hackers to spy on users’ web activity, scrape form data, and – as it
turns out – steal their bitcoins.

8  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-10-10] How the U.S. Government Tried – and Failed – to Shut Down Bitcoin on: October 10, 2019, 05:39:17 PM
I'm not sure what tickles me more - that the U.S. government thought that it could "take out" Bitcoin, that Ms. Haun
sidestepped its agenda and had the foresight to learn about and understand crypto rather than just knee-jerk reacting,
or the massive contributions she has made to the space since then.

A former federal prosecutor turned Bitcoin proponent has revealed that her boss at the U.S. Attorney’s office asked her
to look into shutting down Bitcoin.

The year was 2012 and Katie Haun, then a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s office, didn’t know anything about
Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin – until she was asked to investigate and “take down” the world’s flagship cryptocurrency.

“They said ‘we have this perfect assignment for you’ – there’s this thing called Bitcoin and we need to investigate it,” Haun
recounted in a recent interview with CNBC.

“That was the first time I’d ever heard of Bitcoin,” she added.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / [SCAM] Fake Bittorent Token (BTT) Website Emerges to Scam Investors on: January 16, 2019, 07:21:39 PM
I stumbled into a freshly launched Bittorent token (BTT) scam this morning. The website is BTTLaunchpad.com and I confirmed
with Binance that it was NOT a legit site of theirs, despite the branding.

Remember:

  • The BTT token sale launch date hasn't been announced yet
  • It will be launched EXCLUSIVELY through Binance Launchpad
  • No US investors will be permitted to participate in the token sale

Here's a writeup I did on the fake BTT site scam earlier today:

13  Economy / Services / [JUST LAUNCHED] Free Bitcoin TX Accelerator - No Upsell - 24/7 Availability on: May 31, 2018, 04:11:11 AM
Hey everyone - long time no see!

I just finished work on a little freebie bitcoin transaction accelerator tool and launched it this evening:

https://freebtctxaccelerator.com/

Why another accelerator? I know there are a lot of them out there, but most of them are either chock
full of irritating ads and pop-ups, are bait and switch scams, or only available for free use for an extremely
limited time each day.

So I built my own. I tried to make it simple and easy to use. Please check it out and let me know what
you think. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks!

14  Other / Beginners & Help / Where Can I Post This without Stepping on Anyone's Toes? on: March 19, 2018, 09:20:24 PM
I am trying to raise money to help pay for my uncle's medical care. I've built a small website with photos,
video, and other information, but I don't want to run afoul of the mods - which is why I am not posting it
in this message. Where is the most appropriate place to post it?

Many thanks,

Cynthia

website but I just don't have the time or content so I have decided to sell it.

Starting bid is 0.035 BTC (about USD $36 as of this posting)

Increased bids are in increments of 0.005 BTC.

Auction ends on March 31, 2017

Cheers!

19  Economy / Auctions / AltcoinHub.com - domain on: March 20, 2017, 01:38:52 AM
I own the altcoinhub.com domain name. Since I know I won't have time to develop it, I have decided to sell it.

It would make a great domain for an exchange, a forum, or an altcoin news website and since it is both a TLD
and has the keyword 'altcoin' in it, there is good SEO value in the domain as well.

Starting bid is 0.35 BTC (about USD $40 as of this posting)

Increased bids are in increments of 0.005 BTC.

Auction ends on March 31, 2017

Cheers!
