1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Isn't Lightning Network bad for Bitcoin? on: June 29, 2022, 03:36:27 AM
Hello everyone!
I was thinking about one thing, Satoshi once said:
"In a few decades when the reward gets too small, the transaction fee will become the main compensation for [mining] nodes. I’m sure that in 20 years there will either be very large transaction volume or no volume."

As far as I know, in Lightning Network transactions, miners are not paid. So, doesn't this thing affect Bitcoin Network? If miners don't get enough fees to have a decent profit, they will be likely to stop mining.

Can someone explain this situation?
2  Bitcoin / Mining / Can I mine on Bitcoin Core? on: June 28, 2022, 03:58:51 AM
Guys, maybe this question was asked before but I don't find the topic.
I downloaded Bitcoin Core to run a full node (volunteer) and I would like to mine, too (not for profit, just to help bitcoin network).
I found somewhere on internet that the command for mining is setgenerate true (1), but it doesn't work.

Any ideas? And don't tell me, please, to buy specialized hardware to mine, I'm not looking to make money, just helping the network. Thanks!
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Can I run a full node without UPnP? on: June 11, 2022, 12:26:24 PM
Guys, as the title says, can I run a full node (to help the network) with the "Map port using UPnP" unchecked and disabled from router interface?
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Waste of bitcoin addresses on: June 05, 2022, 09:13:57 AM
Guys, isn't creating a new address for every new transaction a huge waste of addresses? I know there are a lot of them and maybe we won't use them all and there's that thing of 'privacy', but common, every time I receive a payment (android bitcoin wallet) a new address is created and it really annoys me a lot to use an address for 1-3$ and then be wasted forever.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin Lightning network - How to join it? on: May 24, 2022, 01:25:51 PM
Hello guys! It's hard for me to understand the lightning network, but I want to join it. I don't mean the technology behind it, I mean how to use of it.
If anyone could answer me, I would be grateful.

1) What is the most used bitcoin lightning wallet (phone/pc)?
2) Do the addresses looks the same as the normal ones or are different?
3) How to send bitcoin to a lightning wallet (from a purchase of bitcoin form exchange/ from a normal wallet)?
4) If I want to spend bitcoin, the shop needs to have lightning network or is it enough to have normal address/qr code?

Thank you in advance!
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Full node is not working anymore after power outage on: April 13, 2022, 02:25:39 PM
Hello! Full node is not working anymore after the power has been turned off suddenly (I didn't have time to close Bitcoin Core).
Now, Bitcoin Core opens normally, but my full node doesn't work anymore (I checked it on bitnodes.io)

Any ideas on how to fix it? Thank you!
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / I just began to run full node. Where do I see my contribution? on: April 09, 2022, 06:05:15 PM
Today I started to run a full node. Where do I see my contribution in running my full node? Like how many transactions or block I have validated or something like this.

And another thing, this is written on bitcoin.org at full node:
"6 hours a day that your full node can be left running. (You can do other things with your computer while running a full node.) More hours would be better, and best of all would be if you can run your node continuously."

What is that "6 hours"? The minimum time I have to run continously the full node? Or the total in a day (like 3 hours + 3 hours)? And what if I run only 4 hours?
Thanks!
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 1FeexV6bAHb8ybZjqQMjJrcCrHGW9sb6uF 79k bitcoin address. The truth about it? on: March 24, 2022, 07:08:39 PM
Hello everyone! What do you think about the legendary 1FeexV6bAHb8ybZjqQMjJrcCrHGW9sb6uF address?
For those who don't know the story, 79k bitcoins were sent to this address 11 years ago, in 2011, and they were never moved, not a single dollar.
It is said that they were stolen from Mt Gox, Craig Wright claims that he bought them from Mt Gox (he is also claiming that he is satoshi, I think he is a big scammer).
What do you think, or know, about this address and the person that got these bitcoins? Do you believe that they are permanently lost, or are hodled? Dumbest thief ever?
Let me know your opinions!
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Bitcoin Core Sync / Download way too slow on: February 28, 2022, 11:18:08 AM
Guys, I will try and be to the point. I know other people had the same issue, but maybe you have an idea specific for me. I want to volunteer for running a full node. But sync takes way too long. Changed the size of database cache to 1024 mb. I tested my internet speed, it's 430 Mbps, I have windows 10, 4GB Ram and Intel I3. I've been letting it to download 8h/day for 2 weeks (~110h) and it downloaded only 20%.  Progress increase per hour is generally 0.01-0.08%. It has reached its peak 0.30-0.50% but for a very short of time. I can't wait 24-48 weeks to download it all. Do you have any ideas for me? Thanks!
