21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Given an option between Bitcoin and Fiat which do you prefer? on: March 21, 2023, 09:03:38 AM
As we all know, bitcoin has been trending for a long time now and has been recognized by nation's and individuals globally. Irrespective of the fact that bitcoin is a digital currency, it is highly volatile and risky and if you must invest in it, you must use your spare cash or funds which you can be able or afford to loose. Many people use bitcoin as store of value ie they use it to store their assets and wealth after converting from Fiat to bitcoin. It is otherwise a savings account to many as they see it so. With bitcoin your privacy is guaranteed compared to the Fiat which you must pass through processes before having access to it.

Fiat is stable enough to sustain it's monetary value but can not guarantee a stable economy as it was designed for. Fiat exchange value varies between nation's as it is measurable in the economical value each nation has and is contributing to the global market GDP but as a national tender it is, it is still of value because that is the only means by which one can exchange for goods and services compared to bitcoin depending on the country in which you are if they truly recognizes bitcoin as a legal render.

As bitcoin is, it has the tendencies to appreciate high in price compared to fiat which is stable, bitcoin has no third party custody unless you have it stored in exchange if not you are solely incharge of it which means you have your private keys and phrase under your custody compared to the fiat which is been held by banks and other financial institutions.
As a bitcoin enthusiast having the knowledge of bitcoin and it's potentials compared to the fiat as a local currency and means of exchange or payment for services rendered what is your take and preference on it? And how long do you think it will take for bitcoin to be accepted as a digital legal tender world wide?

You opinions and thoughts are welcomed, let us discuss.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How do you feel selling your BTC against your plans? on: March 07, 2023, 01:39:26 AM
A thought came over me while spending my BTC. Although I was wondering if members have had that experience and  too  how others would feel about it hence this topic. Now here was what happened. I had an emergency which requires an urgent attention and it involves funds. I had no option than  to get the funds immediately as the payment I was expecting has no yet been credited to my account I had no option at that moment than to fall back to my bitcoin and what touched me most was that the market was red and It was obvious I had to sell to sort out the urgency at hand. While doing that, there was this feelings I had then as a result of the red market as at the time I was doing the transaction . I was just having that thought over me then and wishing the market could just boom immediately so I could only release just a small fraction of my BTC to sort out things then and another was that I could just receive my much awaited alert so I could stop the BTC transaction immediately. You know that feelings that comes when you want to do something you really do not have plans doing immediately maybe you have plans for it in the future and all of a suden an emergency comes up which would force you to do the needful. I had that feelings and it was real and really devastating at that very moment.
If you have had such experience, how was it like?
23  Economy / Gambling / What if bitcointalk creates a casino review and ratings board for members. on: March 05, 2023, 06:59:20 PM
Apparently, the request by members for casino review is becoming demanding due to some experience they have had with some casinos coupled with the complaints of account banning, suspension and poor customer care service which is now beginning to eat deep into casinos with claims of account holders defaulting their policies which if properly investigated, the gambler is not guilty of the penalty and actions metted against them. Some cases here onboard this platform have been sorted out with some gamblers being innocent and funds by winning being released to them while some casinos and their representative are no where to be found.
Of lately, there have been some issues with casinos locking their thread preventing further discussion by members while directing members to their website customer care which is barely active in responding to members.

Nevertheless I was thinking if there could be a thread under the Economy board created separately for casinos review ( all casinos registered here) with star ratings whereby members could also take part in the ratings for casinos and their performance which would make them seat up doing things right. This would make all registered casinos and their various representatives onboard this platform to doing their work diligently in responding to customers and being active here.  However, if a casino fails to doing or resolving issues between a member and them and consecutively, such casino is being reported here and after much deliberation on the scam accusations board or reputation with no fruitful result, hence there is every possibility of blacklisting such casino by high rank DT1 and DT2 members after they have put efforts to resolving the issues but the casino fails to resolve.
With this, I think casinos would start being up and doing accordingly to avoid being blacklisted here because if they should get blacklisted, that means they are not upto standard for operating  here.
With this casino review and ratings board members both old and new would know better casinos to identify with and if any member chooses to identify with a casino after seeing their ratings and review to be very poor, that member would have no option than to face his or her problem by themselves when it dawn on them or if the case is otherwise.

This is an opinion which would welcome more contributions and possibly ways to develop this particular board if considered and deemed fit to hid to.

Thank you
24  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Current state of financial crisis in Nigeria. on: February 13, 2023, 09:29:46 PM

Comrades this matter is getting out of hand. I stumbled upon the above meme and I popped into laughter though but something came to my mind and I had a deep thought over it and I asked myself this question, what is it like in the rural areas where there are no banks and they need money for their trades and otherwise, what is it with these pos vendors that charges outrageously for transfer and withdrawal with their knowledge of the current situation of the economy and financial crisis  ravaging the country.  Do you know how many people that have lost their lives as a result of this cashless policy and these banks and pos acts. I was reading one of the dailies last week  where a man at kaduna lost his pregnant wife and baby as a result of money demanded from the hospital by the doctor before they could touch his wife but he could not access money to do that and he took his wife home inviting a mid wife to aid his wife in delivering their baby but it was not as he thought and his wife  passed on as a result of excess bleeding( https://www.google.com/amp/s/dailypost.ng/2023/02/01/kaduna-man-loses-pregnant-wife-to-scarcity-of-new-naira/%3famp=1).  How about others that are stranded and left with no option.

This is the current situation of financial crisis in the country not cashless policy. May God help us.
25  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / A request for cassava Sterm on: February 05, 2023, 06:51:52 PM
As an Agricultural Extension Administrator into technology, I deem it fit identifying with fellow agriculturist here on this platform since it is our local board, I believe we all can relate very well here irrespective of our geographical location and ethnicity, we can deal and start showing the world how blessed and good we are in agricultural production. If possible I would want a situation where by we can start trading agricultural produce here with a top ranked and reputable member as an escrow for transparency and credibility. Those from the north, south, east and west can relate and deal here with payment in btc.  I would like to see us grow our trade on our local board patronizing our very own local commodity here since we are all in the same country.
At first, I would want to kick start with my offer to purchase 1ton of cassava sterm and the variety as follows; TME 419, Fine Face, Dixon, Farmers' Pride, Sunshine, Game Changer, Obasanjo II, and Poundable. Any of the above variety is ok by me.
I would also vouch for a reputable and high ranked member as an escrow for the deal.

Do well to snap and send  the picture of your product here for view.

26  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / The State of Nigeria education. on: January 31, 2023, 07:59:09 PM
The current state of Nigeria education is very alarming. The educational sector needs revamp, the system is messed up, decaying and backward in every aspect. ASUU threatening strike, government yet to meet up with ASUU negotiation, no teachers and lecturer promotion for years, no salary increment. How do they want the teachers and lecturers to be comfortable teaching. Check out the last strike took almost 1year before it was called off. Reason the delay, time and frustration meted on students which is not proper hence students finding their way abroad to study making Nigeria to loose both manpower and resources to other nations of the world. And another thing is this, after finishing your higher education, getting a job is another prayer point waiting for answers. May God help us in this country.

29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Your experience with bitcoin in 2022 and your expectations come 2023. on: December 28, 2022, 03:08:56 AM
As we head towards the new year, 2022 has been a rough year for Bitcoiners with so many ups and downs in the blockchain space. Lots happened which also affected the general Crypto market as well.  Hacks, misappropriation, carelessness and recklessness with investors funds and assets which no one could comprehend. CEX rascality caused a whole lot of issues which resulted to some popular slogans such as " not your keys, not your coin" what will you say with regards to your journey and experience in 2022. Do you think there could be  a shock come 2023 in the bitcoin price and the general Crypto market at large. This shock could be positive or otherwise. Say your opinion on your expectations for bitcoin come 2023.
30  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Banks and Crypto currency related issues. on: December 22, 2022, 01:10:33 PM
With the events going on and the past occurrences of banks and Crypto currency issues regarding to account closure and funds seized, it would be nice we furnish ourselves here with happenings around us with regards to banks and how they handle Crypto and bitcoin issues so we would know what is obtainable in our country Nigeria. We can post with reference and if possible, with pictorial excerpts available, it would be nice .  This will help us in many ways if there be any happenings or unfolding events and also we can share ideas on how to handle such situations so as not to have issues of pending transaction. I believe we do have active  bankers or ex-bankers here amongst us too who can furnish us with latest updates as well.

I hope this opinion does not contradict any existing protocol.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin adoption and On-boarding of a tailor friend. on: December 18, 2022, 06:15:35 AM
I met with this man who is a tailor in my locality, he is very skilled and good at his work. Though he is exposed and inclined with technological development but to some extent and I can attest that he is good, sound and knowledgeable to assimilate teachings and new ideas.   I got to know him through a friend based on recommendation for a work for which he did very well to maximum satisfaction. As a bitcoin enthusiast, I felt it was the right time and thing to do putting him through and bringing him onboard the bitcoin system for which promotion and adoption is the goal.

As a member of this platform and a pro bitcoin enthusiast, I find it necessary promoting the acceptance and adoption of bitcoin in my locality for which I have been on the course and it has been a successful one. I had to lecture him on bitcoin, When and why Bitcoin was founded, Founder of Bitcoin, Importance and benefits of holding bitcoin also challenges and disadvantages, How to trade bitcoin ( listed some  notable exchange where he can trade bitcoin), What is blockchain and how it works. I also explained and showed him what a public and private key looks like, showing him a transaction hash too was another thing I did for him to get a clearer picture of how it works.

We had a one on one conversation as it was more of an interactive class we had. I was also practical because i would want him to know how to handle things on his own after the day and when he is with others. I taught him how to set up a bitcoin wallet so he could easily understand and do it himself, copy and send his wallet address to his customers for payment. As private keys are important, I also told and showed him the difference between private keys, public keys  and transaction hash so he could get acquainted to them all. All through was a practical session so he could get acquainted to the whole process. I also emphasized on him running another private wallet from  what we have done as it may please him for his own safety. I was very precise of the market volatility and letting him know how it works so he does not make any wrong move.

It was a very deep interactive session as he inquired to know how he could purchase bitcoin for which I gave him options of centralize exchange to choose.  I made it clear to him "not your keys not your coin" so he could be aware of the happenings and take caution so as not to fall victim of any circumstances or unforeseen event with centralized exchange.

He was very happy for my kind gesture and time spent lecturing him about bitcoin and blockchain. He also told me he was going to put his friends and siblings through so they could get to know about bitcoin and how it works. I believe he would do better and as well getting more people more especially his customers to know about bitcoin and for those of his customers already into bitcoin, i am sure they would definitely want to pay him in bitcoin too as it would be very easier and convenient for them to pay him without much stress.

To wrap it up comrades, today is MY BIRTHDAY

A HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!!!
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A day with an ally. on: December 16, 2022, 06:24:30 PM
Yesterday I happen to meet with a long time friend who isn't based in the same city with me due to the nature of his job as he does not work in same city. We grew up together our childhood days, went to the same primary, secondary and same university in the same city. He called me informing me he was in town if we could hangout I accepted the invite as a childhood ally. We had series of conversations about life, affairs, family, business, and lots more. We discussed more about work and finance too so he inquired to know more on my stand how i was faring. I could not hold myself, I laughed. He said he was surprised i had not asked him for a dime but rather i was the one giving to him whenever he calls for backup. He asked me if i could help him out with other means. I told him i had no other means currently than blockchain and bitcoin. As a pro bitcoin enthusiast, I had to put him through the system although he was skeptical about it but he was able to assimilate all i told him.

I had to start by lecturing him on the inception of bitcoin, founder of bitcoin, benefits of holding bitcoin and as well the disadvantages involved so he would be knowledgeable of the whole process. Before we started the conversation on bitcoin,  i had to tell him about how i started too so he would know what it took me and how i persevered holding till it was breakeven time.

I as well lectured him on best wallets to use which will not cost him much gas fee for transaction. As private key is important, i told him about it and how to secure his wallet, showed him how to identify his wallet address and private key upon setting up a new wallet. Looking at the market situation, i gave him an insight of how it works and encouraged him to take advantage of it to buy and hold just as i did.

He was overwhelmed by my lecturing and he said to me if he had known about this he would not have been stocked up in some situations he found himself in and thanked me to revealing this to him. I was practical about the whole process so he could see it for himself and also have idea how to do it himself when he goes back to his station.

He asked how he could get bitcoin i told him that is not an issue. I helped him set up a wallet and he scale through his KYC  and he purchased $50 worth of bitcoin which he withdrew to his private wallet for his own safety.

Nevertheless, i had to introduce him to this platform using myself as a case study. I opened my profile to him showing him across boards and how things are done here, possible engagements on this platform, rules and regulations and how to earn tokens.

It was a wonderful session we both had having this lecture. He was very happy because i had to put him through the system and as well showing him my source of income which he himself admit that nobody would do what i did by showing them their other source of income. I just took the risk because i want him to be financially free as a childhood friend. He thanked me a lot for revealing this to him.

This is what i have passion for, bitcoin  promotion and adoption,  on-boarding and leading people to financial freedom. Like the saying goes, "education is power" this is what i like doing so that people would be informed about the happenings and development on blockchain space.

33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The US Prosecutors are at it again against binance and CZ. on: December 12, 2022, 03:36:22 PM
If we are to go by this recent update from gcko.io on binance and cz  then their is likely going to be another melt down.
The US prosecutors are at it again in their usual clampdown on Crypto currencies and exchanges thereby causing a drastic drop in the Crypto market. If binance should be conducting kyc for members onboard their platform how come they could not detect the money laundering activities going on onboard their platform. As it stands now, this would definitely cause another panic in the space as binance is the world leading exchange so therefore it would not be too long we would be up to hearing another news again. This year has been very rough and turbulent for the Crypto industry as it has it downs more than it it's up as it could mention or think of.

Do remember the "not your keys not your coin" movement to safeguard your assets and funds.

35  Other / Meta / Bitcointalk Christmas Charity Programme on: December 03, 2022, 12:32:13 PM
I have been pondering over this for some time now. This platform have come a long way to this height and as members of this platform,  most members that have been here long before now have highly benefited from this platform. The bitcointalk platform has made many men which most of you can attest to that fact. For many years, this platform have been in existence and to the best of my knowledge for the time I have been onboard this platform and carefulIy research I am yet to see any post about end of year or Christmas Charity program organized by members, please correct me if I am wrong.  I think giving back to the society can also make impart in the society and also promoting the Bitcoin movement which would likely call for more adoption.

This is just a suggestion, your opinions and ideas are all welcomed. Let us discuss.

What is your take on this topic and subject matter?

36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Phase two(2) : Bitcoin Promotion and Adoption in my locality. on: December 01, 2022, 10:24:38 PM
In continuation of my course on the Bitcoin Promotion and Adoption in my locality, this is the phase two (2) while you can see the phase one (1) here; https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5422241.0  I on-boarded this young man who render laundry  services in my locality. He was recommended to be a good laundry man in my locality for which he has been up and doing. He owns a mini Laundry service which he has been running and has been his major source of income and sustenance. I met with him and we had a conversation. At first, he seems to be sound and knowledgeable enough to assimilate new ideas and mostly innovations. He is also inclined a bit in technological innovations and discoveries so I told him about bitcoin. I used the scheme I already used for the previous as earlier stated which he find interesting. It was a series of question and answer session we had an in-depth discussion on blockchain, cryptocurrency and bitcoin. After which, he told me he is interested in accepting bitcoin as payment for his services and I should show him how he could start  by setting up a wallet which I did.

For  better view, here was the scheme which I used;

1. What is Bitcoin?
2. When and why Bitcoin was founded.
3. Founder of Bitcoin.
4. Importance and benefits of holding bitcoin.
5. How to trade bitcoin. ( listed some  notable exchange where he can trade bitcoin)
6. What is blockchain and how it works.

As I did for the previous,  I also did to him as well. I taught him how to set up a bitcoin wallet, the easiest to be precise so he could easily understand and do it himself, copy and send his wallet address to his customers for payment. As earlier mentioned above, I also told and showed him the difference between private keys, public keys  and transaction harsh so he could get acquainted to them all.

I encouraged him to reach out to his friends and colleagues  because it would aid in the faster and rapid adoption and promotion of bitcoin in other locality where they belong.

This course for which I have started has been an interesting one so far. It has exposed me to lots of experience as well and also knowing more  of the societal perspective about Bitcoin  and cryptocurrency as a whole. It has been a wonderful one and time out there for me as I made new friends in my locality and beyond.

If I can take this course to my locality and beyond, you too can do it more.

I am open to welcoming contributions and opinions.
37  Economy / Exchanges / Will there ever be any safe centralised exchange ? on: November 22, 2022, 04:28:38 PM
I was wondering if there could still be any safe centralised exchange in the blockchain industry. Of lately lots have been unveiling itself and centralisedexchanges are at the end of it all.  Does it mean that these centralised exchanges that are in existence lacks the capability to safeguard assets and funds after attracting investors and traders to their platforms for engagement and activities?
How do you explain these things to the people whom have entrusted their funds and assets to you for safe keeping hoping that what they gave to you is under safe care only to wake up to a sad news of their assets being stolen by hackers. How do you explain all these.

At first identifying the problem is a basic course for rendering solutions. If these problems are not identified immediately by the exchanges for quick remedy then who's to be blamed for it. Do they really do constant check on their service to know their lapses, if they do, do they identify it immediately with utmost attention? Do they do a constant check and evaluation on their staff and  mechanisms.

With all these said, what are your opinions on this subject matter as I feel this needs to be looked into for possible measures to be taken for  so as to further prevent or minimise the rate at which exchanges get hacked or being careless with investors and traders funds.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Promotion and Adoption in my locality on: November 19, 2022, 10:49:07 PM
In line with the global adoption and promotion of bitcoin for which  I am a member of this community, fulfilling one of the course for which this community have long being on the move. I decided to take the bitcoin adoption and promotion movement to my locality. My major targets are vendors, traders, skilled and unskilled labors in my locality and my neighborhood. To start with, I met this barber in my locality, he is good at his work and gives nice haircut. I took my time to talk with him about bitcoin and how it works.  At the first stance, he was reluctant and said he does not really have digital knowledge and it would be a kind of difficult for him to go through it but I assured him he would like it when I start putting him through the whole process and he gave in. I started by giving him hint on technological innovation towards digital currency with Bitcoin as topic and subject of discussion. He picked interest in the discussion and started asking me questions about bitcoin and how it works for which I responded to him accurately. It was an interesting and interactive session as I made him understand the whole system and how it works.

In other for the communication, learning and teaching process to scale through, I had to come up with a learning scheme for an easier understanding and they are as follows;

As a first timer, I explained and showed him what a public and private key looks like, showing him a transaction harsh too was another thing I did for him to get a clearer picture of how it works.

Never the less, I taught him how to set up a bitcoin wallet, the easiest to be precise so he could easily understand and do it himself, copy and send his wallet address to his customers for payment. As earlier mentioned above, I also told and showed him the difference between private keys, public keys  and transaction harsh so he could get acquainted to them all.

For accepting bitcoin as a means of payment, I promised to patronizing him and also introduce him to more customers ready and willing to pay with bitcoin for services rendered  within my locality. He was very happy for my kind gesture of me introducing him to new customers ready and willing to pay in bitcoin which means a plus to his business. It was nice and also fun on-boarding him into the bitcoin movement. I believe he too can reach out to his fellows as I told him to do so because it would aid in the faster and rapid adoption and promotion of bitcoin in other locality where they belong. This course we must achieve until bitcoin adoption gets to the various locality as this is the grassroots goal on target.

Edit.....

I will keep updating this tread as I continue to carry on with the Bitcoin Promotion and Adoption  campaign in various locality.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / The Nigeria Central Bank Policy a blessing to fast Bitcoin adoption in Nigeria. on: November 12, 2022, 02:24:15 PM
Of recent the Central Bank of Nigeria has introduced a new money note and therefore led to set up a new  policy which involves old notes in circulation be returned back to the bank within a stipulated time. This policy was formulated as a result of some findings according to the Central Bank Governor that the money being withdrawn from the society or economy by individuals is far much higher than the money in circulation hence the new policy. Since then lots have been unveiling itself as lots of individuals are rooting for their hoarded cash to  return to the bank while some of them are beginning to discover that their hoarded cash is getting spoilt already. The worst of the policy now is that no new account can take up to #5,000,000 per day and old account #50,000,000 per day with deadline for the old currency change as stated to be January.
My essence of saying this is that as stiff as this policy and Nigerians are more Bitcoin inclined, I think it would be a big plus to Bitcoin because most of them hoarding money and can not return them to the bank as a result of the new policy might likely seek for another option which is no other one than purchasing Bitcoin there by increasing the faster spread of Bitcoin adoption. With this move, more  Bitcoin holders would increase in Nigeria as there are no alternative option than to safeguard their money buy purchasing Bitcoin and keeping themselves off the government's attention.  Gradually, the money that has been out of circulation would find its way back to the economy with more Bitcoin transaction on daily basis.
I think my thoughts are right and this would definitely be the opinion and solution to  their plight in protecting their funds.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Sports and entertainment industries could play a big role in Bitcoin adoption. on: November 04, 2022, 12:22:22 PM
I have long been having a thought over this. The sports and entertainment industries gets more attention to themselves unlike other industries. I believe also that they have or share fans that are into blockchain as well. If these two industries looks into blockchain I believe there would be a strong massive adoption as a result of their total engagement with their fans if they constantly accept Bitcoin payment for their shows and events. Like some clubs already doing this and the response is welcoming.

If musicians do follow same step, I think there would be massive adoption as most of them are Bitcoin informed and  inclined. Artists could help spread the move on Bitcoin adoption.

Do you think this would be realized if it is given attention to.
