23  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-11-17] Two Bitcoin Mining Companies Disappear From Sweden Owing $1.5M on: November 17, 2018, 03:27:44 PM

It's funny how they are trying to gain sympathy for the scammers by blaming the bear market for their exit. Pathetic Reporting as usual. Also, I don't get why the electric company allowed them to build up such debt. My provider would have removed me from the grid if I didn't pay for 3 months. I kinda blame them, even if they had a long-term deal. I would have always preferred a payment every 3 months to reduce the risk.

25  Other / Politics & Society / Are we living in a virtual reality? on: October 05, 2018, 04:12:43 PM
Title: What If the Earth Does Not Exist?
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CyN8rYdX6g&t

What do you make of this video? Before watching grab something to eat/drink. Its 20 minutes long.

I truly believe that we are living in a simulation but I am still trying to figure out the purpose of this simulation. What might be the aim behind a simulation like ours? Is it why we don't see aliens roaming around in the galaxies cuz this simulation was programmed to be of humans only? How do religions play into this theory? Were they actually introduced by the being or beings running this simulation? But most importantly Does this indirectly mean that "God"/"Gods" exists? This is a very interesting topic for me. So many things come to my mind but I Would love to hear from you guys. Do you think we are living a virtual reality after watching that video? What makes you think this is a reality itself while guys like Elon say otherwise. Leave your thoughts below.
26  Other / New forum software / Merit Button Like trust? on: October 01, 2018, 05:00:53 PM
It would be nice to have the 'merit button' just like the trust one to open up the merit history of the user. I know all it takes is 2 additional clicks to achieve it, But it gets annoying when you are hunting for merit-sellers.

Bitcointalk Chrome Spam Filter Plugin v1.

What does the plugin do?

It basically ignores all the posts made by users who haven't received any merit. You can also set a minimum amount of merit a user must have received to not get filtered by the plugin.

Example:

Download: https://mega.nz/#!ifQChQqZ!z52O9Kpsgh7dI38iwnnYFwh0u5w3FJ7OkZ5sm2sob3s
By downloading this Plugin you agree not to Resell it in any way or form. However, you are allowed to modify it. This plugin is for personal use only.

How to use?
- Download & install chrome
- Download the zip file linked above.
- Extract the file
- Goto Chrome > Settings > Extensions.
- "Enable Developer mode" > Click Load Unpacked Extension and Locate the 'extracted' folder.

Note: This plugin was not developed by me, I hired a developer to code this plugin. If anyone can review the code that would be great. The code is commented out.

Upcoming features:
- Allow users to totally remove/hide posts from users who haven't received any merit.
- Show how long the user has been on the forum.

Suggestions and feedback will be appreciated.
31  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-09-09] Lightning Network Comes to 4,000 Merchants Worldwide Via Coingate on: September 09, 2018, 10:15:02 AM
From the article: Lithuanian blockchain payment processor CoinGate, which was founded in 2014, has announced that over 4,000 merchants worldwide that use its services can now accept Bitcoin (BTC) payments over Lightning Network (LN), a "second layer" payment protocol that enables instant, scalable, and low-cost Bitcoin transactions.

Link: https://www.cryptoglobe.com/latest/2018/09/lightning-network-comes-to-4000-merchants-worldwide-thanks-to-coingate/

Dmitrijus Borisenka, co-founder and CEO of CoinGate, says that the pilot launch had been successful: “We were pleasantly surprised when we came across tweets of our Lightning Network implementation at the Kasbah Bar in Oslo. You may have heard critics claiming, ‘you can’t buy coffee with Bitcoin’. Well, we’re not sure about coffee, but buying beer with Bitcoin within a second for zero fees is definitely possible in Oslo"

Who's up for some beer? On a serious note tho. We need Payment Processors Like Coingate to adapt to these changes, Only these people can bring the LN to the masses. Interesting times ahead for sure to say the least. How will community react to the LN once it gets some traction? Will the people who invested in BTC to get rich Quick will start to use BTC as their daily driver? What will it take to change their mindset? I don't believe that one day a guy who is hodling for years will suddenly start to use BTC as his daily driver.

33  Other / Meta / Community-Led Development of Bitcointalk? on: September 04, 2018, 01:16:14 AM
Since Theymos has recently said that he is short-handed, I think its about time this should be discussed. Should Community-Led development of bitcointalk be a thing? There have been many great suggestions in the "Community generated suggestions" thread. Many of these ideas/suggestions would take years to get implemented at the current development pace, No Offence. What I want to propose here is to allow the community developers to offer a helping hand to theymos.

There are certain pros and cons to this. The biggest con is making bitcointalk's code open to the public. Which would mean if there are any loose ends in the code, a rogue developer could exploit them. Obviously, these developers won't work on the 'live' version of bitcointalk. The code written by them will be first published to a GitHub Repository where 'theymos' and other developers would validate it before implementing on the live version.

Another con would be, We will see Copies of bitcointalk pop-up everywhere, making phishing easier for hackers.

The biggest Pro is the obvious one i.e Rapid Development of new features. Personally, I don't know whether this one 'Pro' will outweigh all the cons which community-led development may bring. But I would like to hear your opinion on this. Should something like this take place? Or Theymos should consider hiring new people to work on the development of bitcointalk with him. Also, Theymos has yet to explain us why he hasn't been hiring staff for the development of bitcointalk. Funding doesn't seems to be an issue here, Is 'trust' really the major factor behind not hiring people? Or is there something else which is preventing him for not working with people outside of his 'inner circle'. Whatever the reason may be, I think its about time we as a community get some answers.
34  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-09-02] Ether Futures May Be Bad for the Crypto but Good for Bitcoin on: September 02, 2018, 11:21:45 AM

35  Bitcoin / Project Development / Spam Filter Plugin on: September 01, 2018, 08:48:21 PM
I wanted to know can a plugin interact with the page user is on? What I want to accomplish via this plugin is to automatically ignore the users who have received no merit. So E.g A Jr.member with 0 merit should be ignored automatically or via a click. Can something like this be coded on the plugin? Also, how much will it cost to code this out?
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [2018-08-28] Roger Ver: Bitcoin Cash is a Better Investment Than Bitcoin on: August 28, 2018, 10:13:02 AM

37  Other / Meta / Spamming Bots! Promoting shit ICOs on: August 27, 2018, 10:02:42 AM
Was just browsing the altcoin mining section, It seems new kind of bots have popped up.

First, I encountered this in VoskCoin's Thread, I thought it was just a bot account trying to Rank up by creating spam posts and deleting them down the line.

TalentSnap is a new word in the sphere of hiring. Its’ ecosystem can only exist with the use of a token - called TalentSnap Coin (TSC) - the key to transmitting one’s data across the Blockchain. With TSC, employers and candidates alike can make use of FitScore to find their perfect fit counterpart, and seeding nodes in the ecosystem. Now we can purchase them with 40% bonus, can you imagine? Roll Eyes

But then I encountered this.

TalentSnap is all about Automating Hiring with Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence Technologies. They are going to change everything connected with hiring! This year alone, the team has partnered with more than 30 Blockchain startups to grow their teams. TalentSnap creators are so experienced and forward-looking people, that’s why I’ve joined their ICO! Grin

They are using bots to spam around the forum!  Undecided  When will we as a community start to take action Huh I don't know whats next! We have already got people bumping up ICO threads, Signature spammers, Farmers and now this :/

We need to take action now! Rather than sit on our asses and debate this shit out. Captcha for newbies should be implemented right away, Or shadowban them till one of the mods approve them.
38  Economy / Gambling discussion / How do you make a Player vs Player Game Fair? on: August 23, 2018, 06:13:18 PM
I am currently working on a project but I am stuck on making its gameplay fair. Here is the issue I am facing. It is a Round based game. A server seed is set for each round and 10 people participate in that. The server seed is the same for everyone but the issue is I can participate myself in the round and as I will have access to the "Unhashed" server seed I can set my client seed in such a way to win over everyone else. So it isn't fair to just use a server + client seed Provable fair system for a game like this. I am wondering what could be done to prevent "tampering/cheating" even if the "house" decides to participate in the round.
39  Bitcoin / Press / [2018-08-02] Forget ETFs, a Bitcoin ETN Is Now Available to U.S. Investors on: August 17, 2018, 09:00:07 PM

40  Economy / Games and rounds / 🏏 🏏 BitcoinTalk's Cricket Pool | 0.005 BTC to join | Pot 0.05 BTC 🏏 🏏 on: August 09, 2018, 08:20:47 PM

This Pool is a direct inspiration from hilariousandco's Bitcointalk's English Premier league pool. I am looking for only 10 people to join for the first month to kick things off. As the Caribbean Premier League has launched yesterday. I believe this is the best time to start things off.

The entry fee is 0.005 BTC, The Pot will become 0.05 BTC once the 10 members have joined. If I manage to get a sponsor the pot will only go up. Prize distribution will be as follow.

1st prize 0.02 BTC.
2nd prize 0.015 BTC.
3rd prize 0.0075 BTC.
4th prize 0.005 BTC.
5th Prize 0.0025 BTC.

The Pool rounds will last 30 days each.

How will the things work?
I will create a post in the Games & round section. I will post upcoming games each day. You guys can place your predictions in the following format there.

Code:
Game: RSA vs Srilanka
Toss: RSA to Win. (10 points)
Win: RSA (10 points)
Runs: By 50 runs (10 points).
Wickets: By 4 wickets (10 points).

A margin of +/- 20 Runs will be applied. So E.g South Africa scored 280 runs and Srilanka got all out on 220 runs. That means South Africa won by a margin of 70 runs. You will be credited 10 points for being in range. 50+20 = 70 runs.

A margin of +/- 2 wickets will be applied too.

To join the pool, Send 0.005 BTC to this address: 3EWG3btpyRsWYTA6QJXhZSWmf6LhPGcNi9

Once the 10 Members have joined, We will kick the things officially. This thread can be used for Banter/Discussions. I will create a spreadsheet of scores and post its link here. It will be updated after each game.

I will be the first one to join this. 9 Spots remaining.
