2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Anyone happen to know if RX480 & HD5870 fans are interchangeable? on: August 13, 2016, 10:42:17 PM
I was just wondering if the sizes are physically similar enough to allow them to be swapped, more specifically a 5870 fan -> RX 480
Also, if the fan connectors are identical?

Thanks
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Its this simple guys ... NOONE is satoshi until they prove it PUBLICLY!!!! on: May 02, 2016, 05:29:37 PM
This whole craig wright bs is retarded. I dont care if gavin "believes" or "vouches" to this guys claims.
But if Craig cant prove to all of us publicly w/ a signature that we can verify ourselves.... then he isnt fucking satoshi.

Its meaningless if someone says "yeah he showed me in private proof of him signing" ... LOL!
Its the same thing as someone saying "I can sign it myself, trust me its mine."

In short, nothing to see here in this media uproar over this Craig Wright bs ... until he proves it publicly!!!!!!

Move along folks.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / DAG_cleaner script for eth mining in windows... on: April 01, 2016, 09:43:42 PM
Simple, Auto-It script works, it can be compiled into a .exe for ease of use:
It just deletes everything except current used DAG and the newest DAG(one going to be used).
I made it because newest genoil ethminer crashes whenever I try to set the autodag deletion feature. On 12 different rigs it crashes =(

Just wanted to see if there are any....

All I know of is weipool.org
Im currently mining there because of the btc payouts. Their hashrate is kinda low tho, was wondering if there were any bigger pools that offer such option?

8  Bitcoin / Electrum / REQUEST: Please re-add Trezor support in newer windows builds. =) on: October 17, 2015, 03:45:01 PM
I would severely love to have this feature available again in windows. I use my trezor exclusively w/ electrum 2.3x builds.
I cant upgrade because I cant use it in newer windows builds =(

Was there a specific reason support for it was removed?

I would like it back! =)

Whats even better is using electrum-ltc & electrum to simultaneously store LTC & BTC on the trezor!
Anyone know when new electrum-ltc will come out? Its still based on 2.3x afaik.

RELEASE NOTES:

Major Features, Additions, Fixes & Changes:
Added the long awaited “Energy Saver” feature – automatically tunes die voltages for highest effeciency while keeping the die stable as possible & hw% low. ~~MORE INFO http://gentarkincustomtitan.pcriot.com/energy-saver-faq-help/ ~~
DCDC Over-Current protection – any DCDC’s detected above 46A will be issued a die reset, if that fails then die speed is clocked down significantly to prevent DCDC failure.
Long Term Stability checking for all dies – bumps voltage up on a die if it becomes unstable more than 2x in a period of 2 days.
Per RPI Cube Tracking – if cubes are added, removed or moved around their last known clocks and volts on a given pi will be restored.
Internet outtage / dead pool detection to prevent miner from constantly resetting itself.
Slight webgui redesign.
Product license activation.
Full Copyright & end user license information.
Much smaller installation file.

Additional Features, Additions, Fixes & Changes:
Full translation of webgui pages to 80+ different languages.
Logging file output format refined and also includes more timestamps now.
Optimized timing of die / cube soft and hard resets.
Fixed format of advanced.conf file not being updated properly when user changes/removes/adds cubes or manually sets dies OFF.
ADVANCED page now shows which dies(if any) are being throttled because of DCDC over temp threshold.
ADVANCED page now auto refreshes every 5 minutes.
Noticed in rare cases dies are configured with positive voltage – wrote correction code for this.
For “Energy Saver” implemented cross reboots internal data array tracking capability.
Ability for user to save Log Files to a file to be posted or emailed for diagnostic purposes. (This is part of the Energy Saver options).
Added BALANCE strategy to MINER page – this may work better than LOAD-BALANCE for some users.
Removal of BFGminer version option – in testing 5.1.0 works best with Titans – can re-add later on as an optional installation file if demand is high enough.
More fixes to KNC’s shoddy code.
And many more small fixes / improvements too numerous to list.

All the previous firmware features and improvements are included!

Now … you’re probably asking yourself “yeah yeah, but how much do all these wonderful new features cost?” Simple: $75 first full copy, $35 for additional licenses.

Verified Previous Customers: The upgrade to this firmware is completely FREE for the number of Titans the previous version was purchased. Additional Titans require additional license purchase. If you created an account here previously then you will find license keys issued to your account. **NOTE** If you have not created an account on this site and verified your previous purchases, please contact me - http://gentarkincustomtitan.pcriot.com/custom-knc-titan-firmware-contact/

New Customers: Prices as detailed above.

***IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTICE*** – Upon upgrading to and activation of this firmware, its EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to keep track of which license was used on your KNC Titan(s). An easy way to do this is create backups of your Titan(s) after activating, then keep record of which backup went to which Titan.

***PRODUCT NOTICE*** – upon purchasing / obtaining this software, the end user agrees to the license terms set forth here(this file is also contained in my firmware): gentarkincustomtitan.pcriot.com/gentarkin_mod/LICENSE

-------------------

I recently purchased a KNC Titan... after reading about all the issues people had with keeping them up n running stable ... I was inspired to see if I could make the Titan more reliable. So, I set out to see if I could remedy one of the most common issues ...I have dumped weeks of coding into the KNC pi img that most people use to control their Titans. As a result is a project thats grown beyond what I originally saw and I have catered to the needs of several miners who've graciously donated. So, my contribution to LTC, KNC Titan miners n general is publicly available firmware improvements. If you feel u would benefit from this improvement, more than welcome to check it out here:
https://github.com/GenTarkin/Titan

Key features:
1. DCDC overheat protection(configurable), will auto clock down dies which cross over user specified DCDC temp threshold.
2. "Sleeping die" reset implimentation - fixes dies who just go to sleep n disappear while mining, without needing to have to power cycle the whole rig manually.
3. Ability to choose between stock bfgminer 5.1.0 or bfgminer 5.2.0
4. More stats on webgui & other webgui tweaks
5. Improvements to KNC's original backup settings(saves voltages & clocks now)
6. "OTA" updates to latest release of my builds.
7. More to come... =)

Latest release: https://github.com/GenTarkin/Titan/releases/tag/v.98
After flashing the .img of my latest release, all further upgrades to new releases are accomplished by simply hitting the upgrade button on STATUS page where it shows the release version.

There are 2 "donation" or payment options to choose from
1. The .img posted on github has a built in .75% per 24hr period of mining for me.
2. Premium purchase which is $50 in LTC upfront. Contact vegasguy (member on forum here) for more details. He handles distribution n payment. (this has the .75% donation disabled)
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / FIX: Ive created a fix for Titan's that have dies going offline while mining. on: July 29, 2015, 06:05:24 PM
Hi all, I recently purchased a Titan from a friend.

It had dies dropping every few hours or so, was highly annoying. Had to power cycle the entire miner every time. I suspected there was a way to issue a power cycle to the cube DC/DC's directly. After SSH'n into the pi turns out KNC had scripts that did just that, but they werent ever being utilizied.
They coded one DC/DC monitor script(watchdog script) for die monitoring while mining. The problem is it was only issuing soft resets to the offending dies, it was not attempting to power off the affected cube and power it up again then restart mining.

Ive basically modified the watchdog script to: STOP bfgminer, POWER CYCLE the cube which has dies offline, START bfgminer.
I have confirmed the script mods working 2x now, Ive confirmed the POWER CYCLING via script running manually more than 10x and each time the dies came back.

NOTE: this fix will work for dies that go offline which are fixable by a power cycle. It will not work for otherwise permanently damaged dies.

Ive also modified the webgui to show more stats in status page:

Link to my Git:
https://github.com/GenTarkin/Titan

You should just be able to SSH into ur pi, download my git in a new dir then copy the contents of that dir to /home/pi (overwriting the dirs/files in that director, which has all the miner binaries & scripts)

18  Bitcoin / Hardware / My SP20 review.. on: January 09, 2015, 11:50:49 PM
This review is gonna be simple, just gonna notate some things that impress me and other things it falls a bit short.

First of all, its been running a good 24hrs, this is one impressive miner!

Its amazing that you can specify a maximum wattage consumption per board (4 boards) and it will adjust clocks / volts over time to stay under that limit, it even takes environmental conditions into account such as temperature to keep the ASIC's happy. If you dont wanna limit their power consumption, u can set the power consumption really high and control them via a voltage range.
Also, you can let it 'autolearn' your PSU's limits, Im not sure how this is achieved, it doesnt seem to know what my PSU is to begin with... supposedly it can figure what some PSU's are... Im kinda afraid to try it rofl!
But, if it was as sophisticated as measuring ripple over wattage increase or some other electrical thing that takes place when PSU's hit their max... that would be impressive!

The ASIC status is one of the more impressive ones Ive seen, it shows wattage per board, per ASIC chip, VRM consumption. It shows amperage per ASIC.

The fan is statically set at a speed by the user, temp limits out of the box are statically set, they can be adjusted through console. Basically this is one of those devices where u set a fan speed and it does the rest to keep the ASIC's in check.

It also features over the web firmware upgrades - I upgraded mine w/o a hitch, and some added features include extranonce subscribe support, for those of u who rent over at NH / WH =)

I think the myminer.io central control of miners on ur local subnet is pretty awesome. Im gonna assume this is how it works: the miner kinda acts like a teamviewer client, it reports to a central server very basic info like model, local ip, firmware and a bit of other stuff. So, if u have a huge farm ... u can easily get into their interfaces by just going to that website without having to try to dig around in ur firewall for the miners ip.
I believe its similar to bitmains recent remote control feature of the S5 (I forget its name).

I run mine around 1.5TH just because its very effecient, approaches .62w/GH @ wall @ 120v AC
I went as low as 1.4TH and iirc was .56w/GH @ wall
Tests done on GOLD PSU

Some of its downfalls, there arent many...
Im not sure where to find its actual HW% since that stat is not exposed obviously in their ASIC stats page or in cgminer's API.... if someone knows, that would be great =)
Fan noise, unless u run these severely underclocked, they wont work well as a living room miner. But I believe their is a fan silence mod u can do to them...somewhere on the forums...

That about sums it up! Overall extremely impressed!
19  Other / Off-topic / [FAKE] um... the press is at it again..... LOL! SN apparently 'arrested' on: December 06, 2014, 09:55:36 PM
http://nationalreport.net/bitcoin-satoshi-nakamoto-arrested-identity-revealed/

Absolutely no proof, but get ready for a ton of other press to start leaking this shit mad come monday!
Thats if it hasnt been already, this is the first Ive seen of it...
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Do you hate the PI's USB ports like I do? here is a fix for us miners!!!!!!!!! on: November 02, 2014, 08:45:24 AM
So, most of the miners Ive ever tried on the PI absolutely hate its USB ports.. Ive had stability issues, CRC packet tossing problems, LIBUSB timeout errors ... enough to drive anyone insane w/ a PI....

A year or go w/ some miners back then I remedied the issue by adding:

dwc_otg.lpm_enable=0 dwc_otg.fiq_enable=1 dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_enable=1 dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_mask=0x3

to my /boot/cmdline.txt file ... it fixed the issues at the time...

>> to today, Ive had issues w/ newer 'faster' miners. Like the ones mentioned above, on various different hardware.

Well, after wanting to throw all my pi's out or just putting 1 per miner just so they 'might stay stable' ... I just knew there had to be / hopefully was a magic setting that would fix it all....
The rest of that puzzle was solved today (hopefully, so far it is)...

add this to the /boot/cmdline.txt as well:
dwc_otg.speed=1

This setting forces the USB ports on the pi into USB 1.1 mode and I believe disables some other highspeed 2.0 features as well.

As it turns out, the PI hates having a USB 2.0 or higher port plugged into it, it causes enormous latency issues w/ devices(in the form of packet loss, the exact thing CGMINER complains about). Maybe it just hates USB 2.0 devices period, I dont know, but it really hates hubs.

After running my miners for an hour or so, ALL of those CGMINER complaints, USB timeouts, CRC packet tossing is now COMPLETELY GONE!!!!!!
This would normally happen once or twice every 10 mins, or 10 times every 10mins...was completely random. Now ALL GONE.

I would go so far to even say you could probably get away w/ a shitload of miners now on the pi w/ this setting. Enough till the CPU of pi starts getting maxed anyways =P

Im truely amazed by this... =)

I hope this helps some of you guys out.

NOTE: I hope the story is the same in the morning, of course, many hours later and they are just as stable =) ... will follow up on this. But for right now, Im extremely excited!
