1  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Students Unionism on: April 03, 2024, 05:18:19 AM
Students are peculiar people in any society of the world. The most vibrant and articulate social class in contemporary capitalist societies. The repository of both ancient and modem knowledge which could entitle them to top hierarchy positions in work places. Which means management cadre is an exclusive preserve of the students in this world of work.
But this ideal trajectory could only be manifested by the students when there exists a vibrant and articulate student Union in the society that puts pressure on the state and it's management team to provide the blueprint for implementation.
Because the crisis of Capitalism could  only be ameliorated through the equal access to power for negotiations by all social classes aggregated on the criteria of Unionism, which the students are entitled to the game.
In the European countries, the United States of America and other advance countries, the student Union as a distinct body is recognized and accorded the privileges for Good Life all over. It enjoys social security packages and other palliatives so that they could withstand the abrasive crisis of Capitalism.
But in the third world nations, students Unionism are more of the words than actions. The students are factionalized on ethnic and religious boundaries. These primodial particularities are the causes of the failures of the students to obtain a better bargain from the state.

2  Other / Politics & Society / Liberty and Human capital development on: April 03, 2024, 04:43:04 AM
Philosophers of both ancient and modem all agreed on the meaning of the concept of LIBERTY. It connotes the inherent and innate potentialities of the individuals in the society. And that these potentialities should be granted unfettered access to expressions, realization, actualization and fulfilment for all individuals in the society. It is the achievement of this development that JUSTICE is done.to the individuals, then EQUALITY is promoted. This triangular philosophical geometry is the formula to promote human capital development in any society irrespective of historical development.
It connotes that all individuals in the society occupy a unique position different from the rest. Every individual should be able to realize his/ her naturally endowed potentialities and develop oneself on the basis of this SELF knowledge.
But leadership all over the world has tampered with this natural trends of individuals. It is either a conspiracy or lack of knowledge, certain individuals have been nurtured on a different field of endeavors from their innate potentialities. I most cases, the individuals themselves are ignorant of the self, what its content carries.
The most common arena where this social casualty takes place is the school. Academic campuses have failed to give the individuals the particular discipline that correspond to their innate potentialities in life. It has relegated the fact that technology per se first exists inside the individuals, so what is expected of leadership is to engage the individuals on the basis of this development.
So, there exists two major challenges that leadership and individuals face when it comes to human capital development; the knowledge of the self, and the actualization process.
However, the only solution is to enhance Justice and equality for the individuals in the society. Hence, a lawyer should be a lawyer indeed, this is applicable to the doctors, teachers, engineers and all disciplines and Professions in the society.
I would want the public in this forum to contribute to this great debate. Thanks.6
3  Economy / Economics / Neo-liberalism and the crisis of Capitalism on: April 03, 2024, 03:54:58 AM
The emergence of industrial capitalism which commenced in Europe in the second half of the eighteenth century heralded two social phenomena such as; pervasive commodification ( all productions geared for sale), and monetization (the centrality and  the use of money for transactions). Sequel to this development, the entire human society became polarized into two social classes; the owners of production and labour. The latter became decomposed into different social classes such as; the middle class, working class, lower class, under class and lastly at best, though more often than not is never recond, the peasantry.
Thus, production is organized within these social complexities which is characterized with antagonisms arising from inequality, poverty, unemployment, inflation and hunger. These are the causes of the miseries in the human society in recent times.
The Great Depression in Europe in 1929 is as the results of these macroeconomic indices as stated above. Classical liberalism was not able to address the crisis, so there was a shift for the adoption of the neo- liberal paradigms such as; fiscal policy and monetary policy. These were operationalized to help manipulate aggregate demands as to minimize unemployment and inflation in Europe. It was achieved through Budgetary framework which shows the ratio of recurrent expenditures and capital expenditures and the directives of expenditures are specified accordingly.
Ever since the European countries, the United States of America and other advance countries are helped by this neoliberal permutations.
On the basis of these ideological persuasions, what really is happening to the African continent and other underdeveloped continents. Why are they not been able to liberate their continents from the contemporary crisis of global capitalism.
I would want the users of this forum to comment and contribute to this great debate. Thanks.
4  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Elementary Economics or What Alternatives? on: March 19, 2024, 09:50:08 AM
When I was in class three in the year 1983, my economics tutor taught us in the class the fundamentals of the subject. Till now those topics such as; definition, market forces, opportunity cost, scarcity, comparative cost advantage, laws of returns, productivity and so on are more often than not a reflection of my mind.
Again, in this recent times, another topic has caught up my reflection such as Import Substitution as was one of the topics of yesteryears in the class. It is an economic device to remedy the continuous fall of the demands and earnings for primary products, mostly oil and gas. On this basis, it inadvertently brings about the fall of foreign exchange earnings. With this development, budget is affected which creates room for externalities, this means much suffering and woes.
The import substitution device makes room for two solutions; the curtailment and limitation of foreign imports, secondly, the massive production of local substitutes such as agriculture, local content products etc. However, within the space of one year, this device is able to provide sufficiently all the goods and services needed by the people of the country.
Is this what is happening in Nigeria or there is another economics device not being taught in the class rooms?. The Almighty God should help calm the fray nerves of the disappointed citizens, or otherwise.
I would want the public in this forum to contribute to the body of knowledge on this serious matter on ground so as to ventilate violent conflicts in the country.
5  Other / Politics & Society / Democracy or Oligarchy? on: March 19, 2024, 01:26:05 AM
In fact I'm always restless whenever there is elections in my country. The final results are different from what the electorate decided at the various polling units. Elections are features of democracy which enhance representative government in the modern society.
But recent developments have shown how elections litigations have made the elections Tribunals and Superior Courts of Records to determine the elections results and the Winner of the contestations. The trial Judges are less than five by law.
Therefore, on the basis of this eventuality, elections outcomes have now become a contest between the electorate and the judges. So, is it still democracy or Oligarchy in the first place?
I would really want the public in this forum to provide a final digest of this serious matter. Thanks.
6  Economy / Economics / The Prices of Labour. on: March 19, 2024, 12:54:42 AM
Forthnight ago, I sat down under a mango tree whose blossoming flowers are promising to humanity and birds. It gave a complete relaxation to me which enhanced a moment of reflections over events and nature around.
Barely an hour, two birds most probably male and female arrived to have their launch on the nectar of the flowers. Their arrival was heralded with a peculiar song that seemed esoteric, but it's lyrics was a lullaby to me.
Suddenly, there appeared in the scene a dramatic event. Three men were pushing an unkempt brand old Passat car towards me to be kept under the mango tree. It broke down complete while it was on it's way to the city. It is a property of a university Professor of Political science. In fact, the Professor was among the three men who were pushing the car.
Then, my reflection moved to the circumstances around the Professor. How much is the monthly salary of a Professor and other related allowances as are accrued to them in the midst of plenty. In fact, there monthly take home is meagre and is better imagined than experienced.
Is there Prices determined by the market mechanisms of demand and supply or by an authocratic Fiat of the government, thus what must be done to effect justice on this serious matter.
I would want the public in this forum to contribute.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / My First Experience With Bitcoin on: March 14, 2024, 10:45:50 AM
Whenever my mind ponders on the inherent contradictions of capitalism and the spirit that drives these ideological dynamics, how capitalist ideas rule the entire world, how it has succeeded in creating a global village, and how it's recommended palliatives and resolutions are deployed to calming fray nerves, then at last, l reflect on the highlights of crypto currency in contemporary times.
Actually, two major events have always come into my reflective mind on issues dealing on crypto currency. Though, there are varieties, I hope I'm always moved and interested in Bitcoin investments. And these two incidents of Bitcoin have made me develop indept interest on it, and have become a major defender of Bitcoin investments in the human society.
Firstly, at a certain semi urban and commercial settlement, some few kilometers away from my home, there lived a renowned wealthy man who was married to a woman with seven children; three boys and four girls. When he was alive, he showed to his wife a particular spot at the wall of his parlour. Inside the wall is hidden certain financial details of his transactions among which is Seed Phrase of Bitcoin. He showed this secret to the wife on the basis of eventuality of his death, then the wife should crack the spot to access these financial documents.
Later, he died and the wife did in accordance to the husband instructions. She and the children inherited the accumulated wealth of the husband propelled by Bitcoin.
Secondly, my attention has always been drawn to the enthronement of a certain young person who was my student in the university into the middle class cadre in the society. This young person through his investments with Bitcoin has acquired several landed properties and seldom embarks on philanthropic social security to the poor in the society.
Therefore, on the basis of these two experiences of Bitcoin transactions narrated above, l have made up my mind to engage on Bitcoin investments and would like to be associated to all it's connotations.
