21  Economy / Speculation / Predict the bitcoin price range as we enter the New Year on: September 27, 2020, 12:46:50 PM
I’m just genuinely curious to see the sentiment amongst bitcointalk posters. Please no trolling which includes being overly bearish or bullish. Just vote for what you genuinely think, no agendas.

Personally, I’m thinking option 4 ($12,001 - $14,000).

It’ll be interesting to see the results.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Craig Wright To Face Trial on: September 21, 2020, 08:36:03 PM
https://www.coindesk.com/craig-wright-must-face-trial-after-appeal-for-summary-judgement-denied

Craig Wright Must Face Trial Over Alleged $11B Bitcoin Fortune as Request for Summary Judgment Denied

The District Court for the Southern District of Florida has denied Craig Wright’s request for summary judgment in a case that involves claims over ownership of about 1.1 million bitcoin (worth over $11 billion).

In an order signed on Monday, Judge Beth Bloom at the Florida court denied Wright’s motion seeking summary judgment that would have prevented the matter from proceeding to a full trial.

The case, first brought in 2018,  involves the plaintiff Ira Kleiman’s argument on behalf of the estate of his late brother David, that half of Wright’s bitcoin worth and intellectual property belongs to Kleiman. The plaintiff has argued that the bitcoin in question was also mined together by Wright and Kleiman.
Wright’s request for summary judgment was comprised of six claims including statute of limitations, the plaintiff’s inability to prove the existence of an oral partnership and the court’s lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
In the past, Wright has claimed that he was the inventor of bitcoin under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, an assertion many in the crypto world have disputed due to a lack of corroborating evidence.
According to an order issued by the Florida court on Sept. 4, the trial involving Wright’s bitcoin fortune has now been moved to Jan. 4, 2021.

23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Move xx.xx amount of coins from one specific address to another (Bitcoin Core) on: August 09, 2020, 02:20:44 PM
Is there a way of moving a certain amount of bitcoin from one address in Bitcoin Core Wallet to another address in the same Bitcoin Core Wallet?

Is there a command?

You may have seen what happened to BitcoinGirl.Club here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5266437.0
This is what I am understanding.

Yesterday evening after the poker game, I was doing my usual work. At some point, I was going to check my sportsbet T-shirt update. I was looking for the email sportsbet sent so that I get the link to fill up the form. I saw three emails. One already read. The two new with the update of they are running out of the t-shirts. So I opened one of the email, checked the link and it was taking too long time to load the page. When it was annoyingly late, I closed the tab but my system seemed unexpectedly slow. It happens sometimes and I usually force close the system and restart. I did the same and then started my usual work. When I wanted to  login in few of my accounts it always asked me for passwords. Nothing flagged me though. I did not had any 2nd thought. When it was late I gone to bed. Today morning when I wanted to login to bitcointalk discovered everything. Before everything else I knew I had to reset my device which I did.

Now I do not have access of the email. All the accounts, exchanges, business, social media, gambling sites everything that had the email are fucked up. I am contacting each of the sites to help me changing the email addresses. I am going through a lot now. In some accounts I have money locked. This will not be a very easy ride for me. Everything fucked!!!

I do not deserve it. Thanks whoever you are.

I believe the hacker discovered his email address simply by clicking on his profile & discovering the email there & the rest is history.

If you haven’t already then follow these steps to make your email address hidden -

27  Other / Meta / Bitcoin Discussion - Corona Virus Spamming on: March 25, 2020, 03:52:28 PM
I just had a little look in the well known spam/shitposting part of the forum, aia Bitcoin Discussion.
This is what I discovered on page 1 (There are currently, as I type this 8 threads on pate 1 with Corona Virus in the subject title) -

Do we really need to keep allowing mindless threads about COVID-19?

It gets even worse when you read all the shitposts inside the thread.

Any chance we can merge them all & shove them in Politics & Society? - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=34.0

They’re all boring & don’t provide any positives to actual Bitcoin Discussion.

I’d be interested to see how many others have over 2000 Activity & over 2000 Merit, I think we might be a very exclusive group here Wink

LoyceV do you have a list?

Next stop for me, over 3000 Merit Smiley

I’ll stop boring you guys now, I’ll raise a glass to my fellow coiners as we head into the next parabolic bull run over the next 2 years.

@coindesk
Hackers have been distributing a compromised version of the official Tor Browser that's packed with malware designed to steal bitcoin and spy on users. Security firm @ESET says it's been going on for "many years."

32  Economy / Reputation / Freewallet.org Flag - Please Support on: July 15, 2019, 10:29:55 AM
Basically Freewallet is withholding a customers funds (15.2BTC) due to some KYC, small-print bull shit

Flag - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=456

Thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5164369.0

Freewallet user profile - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1177176

The person scammed -

Hello, from a friend in chat room, I knew Freewallet.org where I could conveniently exchange cybermoney only by registering. I believed that BTC would appreciate on July 10 so I transferred 190000 USDT in total on July 9 and successfully exchanged the money into 15.2 BTC. Website: https://live.blockcypher.com/btc/address/3MYY7addBQNQn4DW8Bz2FRUNdsexLKt88D/
When I tried to transfer the 15.2 BTC out of Freewallet.org, the website reminded me of “Error in transaction fields”. I did not know why this happened so I tried for many times.

https://imgur.com/BdaWsdz

I got the following email from them,

Quote
We’d like to inform you that our security system has detected suspicious activity on your account. In case it was a hacking attempt, we had to temporarily suspend withdrawals from your account – this way your funds will be absolutely safe, and the access will be restored once the verification procedure will be finished.

There’s nothing to worry about – Freewallet will gladly guide you through this standard procedure and will restore the access to your account shortly.

To verify your identity, we’ll need some of your personal information. Please reply ‘Yes’ to this email in order to agree.

In our terms and conditions that every user accepts when setting up an account, you can find out more details about the verification procedure. Also, you can check our privacy policy here.

Rest assured – your funds will remain on your account untouched, and you can always check your balance.

Thank you for your understanding, and we are looking forward to hearing back from you!

It is ridiculous that I can provide correct Email confirmation, 2-factor authentication and PIN code but the website reminded me of” detected suspicious activity on your account. In case it was a hacking attempt, we had to temporarily suspend withdrawals from your account”. The website require me to provide my personal information. Is Freewallet.org a wallet? Why does it require me to provide my personal information like an exchange? I do not want to provide but the price fluctuation of BTC is huge. I have no time to communicate with them so I have to compromise and provide Freewallet.org with my personal information.

For fear of Freewallet.org having more reasons to refuse me, I contacted a professional translation agency to translate my personal information, and sent it to them again. They told me to wait for their approval. But I haven’t received any news up to now. I have emailed them several times to speed up my information review, but they only told me to wait. Now the price of Bitcoin has fallen, so that I have lost USD 30,000 on Freewallet.org. I hereby warn everyone that please do not use Freewallet.org. I just want to get my money back now.

Please support!
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How important is keeping a copy of your Bitcoin Core wallet seed? on: July 12, 2019, 12:29:08 PM

35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Vulnerability on: June 24, 2019, 03:40:03 PM
Is there a reason for people running a node to be concerned? Are stored funds at risk?

Two relatively minor vulnerabilities will likely be disclosed sometime soon.

The first vulnerability, CVE-2017-18350, was introduced in v0.7.0 (released in
2012 September), and affects all versions released until the fix was included
in v0.15.1 (released in 2017 November). No versions prior to v0.15.1 are
expected to be fixed.

The second vulnerability, CVE-2018-20586, was introduced in v0.12.0 (released
in 2016 February), and affects all versions released until the fix was
included in v0.17.1 (released in 2018 December). As of today, this fix has
NOT been backported to older versions. When/if v0.15.3 and v0.16.4 are
released, they may also include a fix, but due to the minor severity of this
vulnerability, it does not merit a dedicated release on its own. (The git
branches are also NOT fixed at this time.)

Please be sure you have upgraded to a fixed version no later than August 1st.

36  Economy / Reputation / TradFortress needs a flag on: June 12, 2019, 02:44:32 PM
As one of the worst scammers in bitcointalk.org history I think TradeFortress needs a flag. It’s well documented that he stole thousands of bitcoin’s (he says it was a hack).

I don’t believe that I am permitted to add the flag myself as I wasn’t scammed. But here’s the profile for anybody who was. It needs doing, I will support it but I can’t be the one to add it -

37  Economy / Reputation / LFC_Bitcoin - Reputation Thread on: May 27, 2019, 12:31:03 PM
I seem to be getting attacked frequently by lowly respected accounts on here & discredited by some of the posters with the worst trust score on the entire forum. There is a thread dedicated to attacking me, started by The-One-Above-All (one of cryptohunter’s alts). Every time somebody posts something positive about me he deletes it to try and make me look like some kind of scammer that everybody hates (it’s a self moderated thread).

This thread is designed to discuss my reputation without trolling, if you trust me or think I’m a respected member of the community feel free to add your comments. If there’s anything you think I could do better please add your comments.

I’ve been involved with & buying bitcoin since May 2014. I found this forum in, I think September 2014. I’ve managed to build a network of friends & acquaintances here over the years. I’m DT1 & a Merit Source.

This thread is not self moderated as I don’t want to delete anything.

Post what you want.

King Regards

39  Economy / Web Wallets / blockchain.com outgoing fee optimization on: January 25, 2019, 03:55:50 PM
Joke of a service.

I only use it for every day, small ‘ish’ transactions but it’s terrible. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I select ‘Premium’ fee & I have to end up using a free transaction accelerator to push through my transaction because the fee they set ends up being too low.

Just venting a bit any way. Anybody else experience similar with them? Going to stop using the service now any way. I probably should have ditched them ages ago seeing as though Ver is a big investor / CEO.
40  Economy / Gambling discussion / Friendly advice/warning about gambling in this market on: November 15, 2018, 04:06:32 PM
Guys, you can tell me to fuck off if you want but as a fellow gambler & I suppose a friend I want to give a bit of advice -

The bitcoin price has been INCREDIBLY VOLATILE over the last 24 hours & is probably set to continue that way for the next few days/weeks in some part due to the civil war over at BCH betwwen Ver/Wu & CW.

With what they’re doing (selling BTC to support their shit show) it’s made the BTC price crash (plus traders making it worse by panic selling).

Any way it doesn’t really matter why the price is volatile AF but it is. This affects gamblers & the bets you’re placing. A $20 (in bitcoin) bet made 2 days ago for football games tonight isn’t the same as placing a $20 bet (in bitcoin) tonight.

Just be fucking careful please guys because you could get burnt badly (your winnings might look like shit by the time your result comes in with the way the price of bitcoin is going).

Just a friendly bit of advice any way, you don’t have to listen to me. Personally, I won’t be betting with bitcoin for a little while any way until the market sorts itself out.

Peace Smiley
