Does this count as sig spamming? I just visited the Speculation sub & I noticed user ‘websoftwareengineer’ was the last poster in lots of the most recent topics. There are 20 posts in an hour. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1075757;sa=showPostsTake a look at his profile actually, he does exactly the same every week. 20 today, 20 posts in short succession - 20 on the 14th August, 20 on the 8th August. Clear sig spamming & abuse, no? On my phone so sorry for the way I’ve screenshotted.

Is it just me or has handing out Merit become a lot less common place now? I rarely see anybody handing it out now, certainly a lot less than a couple of months ago.
As a Merit Source (I don’t care if people know) I like to look around for good posts & tend to hand out at least 2 a day.
Do we, as a community, need to do more to reward high quality posts, should we be more actively looking to hand out Merit?
I guess when the system was first implemented those who weren’t Merit Sources had more sMerit & naturally would be more likely to hand it out. It’s been a while now though & lots of posters may simply have run out.
There has definitely been a big drop in the amount of posts I see Merited though. If you still have sMerit do your bit, actively look to reward good posters.

Sitting in the car & just had an idea, might be a shitty one but hear me out.
To further control the flow of shit posts & spamming would it be a good idea for each successfully reported post to earn the reporter 1 Merit point?
It would give newer members a chance to earn Merit without any prejudice that they're a new member? I don’t know if a mod could enable a script to add Merit automatically when a post has been successfully reported & nuked.
This might be an easier way for newer accounts to rank up whilst at the same time learning not to shit post. This Merit could come from a forum/community pot.

Just a quick one guys - What date of each month is our spendable sMerit topped up? I’m shot out!

I think I’ve been around here long enough to be able to judge what is a constructive post by now & who is or isn’t a shit poster. I’ve been here since 2014 so I’d like to throw my name into the mix. 10 recent posts of mine - OP, no offence but your post quality is really poor. What he said is right, he didn’t have to leave you negative trust but that is his choice. If you improve your post quality & send him a PM maybe he might remove it.
Don’t sell now buddy, I’ve seen far, far worse price falls than this. Stay strong, I was at a loss for about 18 months at one point. I’m now over 35 x in profit from my total investment. When we were at $19,000 it was something like 60 x my total investment.
Any way the point is just HODL, at least until after the next halving in 2020. Today’s price means nothing, if you look at the overall price charts the only direction bitcoin goes long term is upwards.
If you can HODL for a few years you may be a rich man. What we’re witnessing atm is simple price manipulation, whales playing people. It’ll go up significantly again.
This is mental, will most of these even be able to be traded on exchanges etc? If they are some of us could make a lot of money selling essentially worthless coins

Seems to be a recurring theme with all these shit threads saying negative things about bitcoin. They’re always created by newbies, so OP I ask you, are you butthurt that you missed the train & have no coins or does a whale pay you to try & get moron’s to sell after seeing your shit posts?
OP what’s your agenda? You’re trying too hard, nearly every post you make is predicting epic crashes & or dumps. What’s the real reason, are you butthurt & all out of bitcoin’s after selling your entire stash way too early? Did you convert 100% into some shitcoin, Roger/Jihan coin? What’s the real reason for the over the top pessimism?
Finally decided to move all of my bitcoin to a new wallet on a new computer.
Am I right in saying that it’s this easy to claim my BCH -
-Download Electron Cash -Click Wallet -Click Private Keys -Sweep -Type all my old private keys that had bitcoin in them at the time of the fork
achow please send me a bitcoin address either as a reply here or as a private message. I will tip you tomorrow. Not all hero's wear capes, thank you for your expertise Why do you want to store your coins on an exchange? If you’re not using Bitstamp to trade then get your coins off there. You should be the sole owner of your private keys, if they are exposed to anybody else then those coins are not yours.
Use a paper wallet, hardware wallet or bitcoin core to keep your bitcoin’s safe.
Trust here has & does get misused here. OP my suggestion to you is to simply follow the rules in all ways & don’t fuck about trying to scam people.
Elwar (a very early adopter here) used to have (possibly still does) an extensive list of places that accept bitcoin. You should get @ him & see if he still has it then shove it in here.

I’m running two bitcoin core clients, just tried to transfer 10 bitcoin from the one on the older laptop to the one on the newer one. My internet froze on the laptop that was sending the bitcoin literally as I sent it but the balance has deducted the 10 bitcoin. They are not showing on the address on the new laptop. This is not a virus or anything like that, I made a test & sent 0.01 bitcoin shortly after and it went straight into the allocated address. A quick search on the blockchain only shows 1 transaction in the address that I sent the 10 bitcoin too. In short where the fuck are they? This is the address they should be in - https://blockchain.info/address/1LAMWagYdsGKUDqUT2GxJFb1aKANywr4UrProof showing transactions but only 1 transaction is registered at this address - https://pasteboard.co/GUxMmpd.jpg

Recently bought a HP Envy Laptop, cost me over £1000. Any way I want to download Bitcoin Core on it & keep a wallet on this laptop. I noticed that the laptop uses NVIDIA Geoforce as some kind of graphic card.
I did a quick google on them as I’m ultra paranoid about where I keep my bitcoin’s, it seems they are primarily a company that designs graphic cards for gaming experiences etc but it says on wiki -
**Corporation (/ɪnˈvɪdiə/ in-VID-eeə)[3] (most commonly referred to as Nvidia, stylized as NVIDIA, nVIDIA or nvidia) is an American technology company based in Santa Clara, California. It designs graphics processing units (GPUs) for the gaming, cryptocurrency, and professional markets, as well as system on a chip units (SoCs) for the mobile computing and automotive market. Its primary GPU product line, labeled "GeForce", is in direct competition with Advanced Micro Devices' (AMD) "Radeon" products. Nvidia expanded its presence in the gaming industry with its handheld Shield Portable, Shield Tablet and Shield Android TV.**
...............................
Now, am I safe here? There isn’t going to be any risk to my bitcoin’s here? I dunno, no backdoor key loggers etc? One of you gifted tech guys put my mind at ease please?
Thanks so much in advance.

Bit of an embarrassing noob question but with the uncertainty around 1st August I want to know how I can see the private key to every address in my wallet.
I have xx bitcoin's in my wallet, any way I can't remember how many coins are in each address. To be honest I can't even remember how many addresses I've used so simple for most of you but dumb question.
Is there a way I can see all the private keys of addresses in my wallet (eapecially those that have bitcoin's in them)

Edit - 19:56 (UK Time) - Solved - lightlord has paid the 3 weeks owed to us 777Coin ran by lightlord - Weekly Signature Campaign - Not paying since the week ending 12th June. lightlord also owns Bitvest & they have been paying their signature campaign posters. izanagi the campaign manager has been offline since 29th June but it's still no excuse as lightlord paid Bitvest himself. Here's the thread for proof of non payment since 12th June any way - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=840124.4280

I have a wallet with bc.i , I've got quite a few public keys in this wallet with bitcoin in them (not a lot of money as it's my online wallet for every day spending). I haven't upgraded to the new wallet that they're offering yet.
If/when I do, can I trust that the addresses & bitcoin's that I possess in my current wallet will be present in the new version when/if I upgrade?
Please no idiots reply who haven't got a clue.

Guys I'm panicking. I was syncing Bitcoin Core as usual & had about 2 days to go, my laptop froze & I couldn't even press Ctrl Alt Del to close everything down. I just turned the laptop off & when restarting my laptop it's downloading the entire blockchain again. My balance has reset to near 0 & 20 bitcoin's have disappeared, this is what it's showing. This is what it's showing - This has never happened before, all my addresses have wiped off of recent transactions & my balance is the square root of fuck all. I have a wallet.dat back up, what do I do? Please, please somebody help me!
|
|
|
Can anybody remind me how to hell to open .dat files on Windows 10 (without Office).
All I can see is a lot of nonsense when trying to use Notepad. I've been using Trezor & paper wallets for ages. Can't remember how to open one.

I don't trade on here so I don't check my Trust comments very often. Some asshole going by the name of satashito who I've never interacted with at all has left this feedback on my profile - MAJOR SCAMMER - HAS MULTIPLE ALTS & VERY DISHONEST! AVOID! ALWAYS USE ESCROW! Has this idiot defectated on anybody else's profile? I know negative trust means nothing when from a random noob but still annoying. This is the culprit's profile link - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=508033
