221  Economy / Speculation / If we can get segwit soon as 0.14 gets released we can recover faster on: January 08, 2017, 12:10:35 AM
In march a big release of bitcoin core will be ready with numerous fixes, the 0.14.0 version will be out with exciting stuff, if only we could get segwit activated, we could create renewed enthusiasm and make the bull run even stronger, and by march I predict that this correction will already be absorbed and the price will be stable around 700-900 range ready to break ATH again, but we need something solid, 0.14.0 is good, but if we could get segwit that would be brilliant. Even former haters like Brian Armstrong are becoming pro-segwit as they learn the facts. Let's do this.
222  Economy / Speculation / Where we able to break the 1000+ period record? on: January 05, 2017, 07:23:10 PM
I saw two threads, one that pointed out the fact that we stood at 800+ for an amount of time high enough to stablish a new record, then we beat this same record at 900. We were a couple of hours in 1000+... im pretty sure that we have broken this record too, since last time we were not for a long time at 1000+. My question is if this is the case or not...

Those statistics are very important, if we stood at 1000+ for a new record, this gives us further confidence in going back to 1000+ soon. The thing is, the 1-day hour data from the MtGox days seems to have disappeared, I can't find a graph detailed enough to study it precisely.
223  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoin showing it can take a big punch on: January 05, 2017, 03:22:34 PM
Whoever expected this would be a smooth side all the way up was dreaming. Along the way, we will take a lot of hits. If you are fighting against the status quo to stablish yourself as a decentralized currency you are going to get hit, we will see weak hands and whales selling, it's all about how bitcoin can take the damage. Just like in boxing, you are going to get hit, it's part of the game, bitcoin just got punched the fuck out but guess what, it's still standing strong. In the all time graph the red candle makes sense when compared to the rise (even tho it could have kept rising, it's a gamble to short). Now we are sitting at 950 looking to test 1000 again. The journey to 10000 will have dips along the way, nothing to worry about.
224  Economy / Economics / People not buying 3XX like crazy will hate themselves in 6 months on: February 03, 2016, 07:10:54 PM
When the summer/halving arrives, we'll see if this wasn't a blessing and not a curse. The fact that we are going back too 3XX territory only means how manipulated the market is (whales are shaking off idiots to buy back cheaper) and how clueless actual fiat whales are by not getting in as we speak with billions on the line (im talking about those fiat whales that have been paying attention to Bitcoin for years now but are too scared to get in because they are stupid and ignorant about it.)

It's going to be a hell of a show and im ready.
225  Economy / Speculation / Market noise is irrelevant. on: January 22, 2016, 06:22:58 PM
You are losing money by not buying Bitcoin at 350, 400 or 500. In 6 months we'll see how trying to find a perfect price was a waste of time, and we were now still in the accumulation period. The big pump will happen around the summer, who knows if before, during or after the halving, but something will happen, and the current price will look like a massive steal, therefore all of this worry about 100 dollars up or down is nothing in the long term.
226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / This is the Paypal killer on: January 21, 2016, 06:59:21 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zVzw912wPo

Bitcoin decentralized with conservative block size so people can run their nodes at home, and Lightning Network on top delivering instant and cheap transactions world wide. Same functionality as Paypal but backed by a decentralized open source currency instead of backed by banks and their money-making machines and anti-privacy software. Anyone can start sending and accepting payments without the consent of anyone.

This my friends is the future. I can't wait for more updated news this year on this. Lets keep positive and support Core + LN and we will win against the Jamie Dimons of the world.
227  Economy / Speculation / Did any of you buy thanks to Mike Hearn's discount yet? on: January 21, 2016, 03:33:29 PM
Mike sold his coins then crashed the price, of course anyone intelligent just holds through the bullshit, but did any of you buy some of the coins at around 3XX range? I would say we are still at discount price since we are only going up after the Mike Hearn and Classic FUD is gone and Core devs can keep focusing on improving Bitcoin.
228  Economy / Exchanges / Has anyone withdrawn Bitcoin from Cryptsy for the past 48 hours? on: January 09, 2016, 03:25:46 PM
Please let me know if I can move my coins outside of that exchange before shit hits the fan which it looks like it's imminent (I hope im wrong and wish them nothing but the best but honestly this is starting to look pretty dodgy at this point).

Please let me know if my coins will safely arrive on my local wallet if I withdraw now. Im going to sell my alts and convert everything to BTC and move all outside of the exchange, but I need to know first. It's a small amount, but for me it's important. Let me know.
229  Economy / Gambling / Do you play in demo mode just to get rid of the urge to play? on: December 27, 2015, 12:01:53 AM
Sometimes I just really want to gamble because I miss the excitement, but I know should not do it, so I just play some games in demo mode with fake credits. After im done, I don't feel like risking real money anymore. This is a good technique to stop gambling in a stupid compulsory way.
230  Economy / Gambling / Did anyone made bank with the Overeem vs Dos Santos fight? on: December 25, 2015, 12:09:26 AM
Some dudes made a lot of cash with this one. A lot of people were betting against Overeem because of the past involvements of failed drug testings, dude showed up with a less defined physique and less threatening cut muscles.. but he knocked the f*** out of Overeem, which means the dudes that invested big in Overeem made a big shoot.
231  Economy / Speculation / Will you short if price goes to the moon? on: December 19, 2015, 08:13:18 PM
Im tempted to short if I sense that the price is way too high and a correction may follow. Of course we are far from that, I suspect we will have an epic rally during the halving, but then comes the question: To sell during the halving in hopes a correction happen to buy more Bitcoin, or to just hold it?

The end goal is obviously to get throught it with more Bitcoin, I don't want to stay in fiat since that's suicidal long term, anything that isn't Bitcoin long term is a waste of time, but I don't know if I should short. What if you sell at $1,000 but it keeps going up and you are left out? where do you even buy back? I can see a lot of people deeply regreting trying to short when the price starts raising fast.. it's a big gamble.
232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Should I raise the default dbcache? on: December 18, 2015, 02:03:16 AM
-dbcache=<n>           Set database cache size in megabytes (4 to 1024, default: 100)

So I have a 4 GB system, default is 100.. why is it so low? and why is 1024 the max? There are systems with 64GB of ram out there but limit is 1024 to be used by the program?

Anyway, where should I raise this to, considering I have 4GB?
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Dorian Nakamoto wins Craig Wright at the media war on: December 16, 2015, 02:58:12 PM
I thought this is funny, do the following experiment: Put "Satoshi Nakamoto" in google image search and see who comes up everywhere. Exactly, Dorian Nakamoto is everywhere in the pictures and I can't barely find a picture of Craig Wright, it only shows up when you scrow all the way down. So when clueless people search for Satoshi Nakamoto, they will still think it's Dorian. His hoax didn't work.

234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What unit do you find more comfortable when measuring BTC values? on: December 14, 2015, 03:57:11 PM
Im curious about the statistics on this nowadays. Honestly I don't know if it's only me but im still used to BTC, even if it would be seen as inconvenient with small amounts, might be because I used BTC only for years. Lately I also learned dealing and managing in satoshis when I started getting small payments because of the sig campaigns. Im really slow when it comes to math so this helped me (experiencing it by using it yourself).
BTC + sat for me then, maybe BTC if I really had to choose.
235  Other / Meta / How come satoshi doesn't show up if you order nicknames in registration date? on: December 12, 2015, 06:40:28 PM
So I was having some fun reading old stuff from the forums trying to learn who was around back in the day, I went in the members section and ordered the nicknames in increasing rate of registration order to see who the first people that registered here were:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist;sort=registered;start=0

Funny to see some random newbies that only made a post. Anyway, what I don't get is the fact that I can't seem to find satoshi and he should show up the third

First one was "admin" which was also satoshi?

Profile number 2 was deleted, who was number 2?

Just curious  Tongue

236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Satoshi's PGP Keys Are Probably Backdated and Point to a Hoax on: December 09, 2015, 11:58:42 PM
http://motherboard.vice.com/read/satoshis-pgp-keys-are-probably-backdated-and-point-to-a-hoax

A good article on Vice magazine which is a huge website and gets tons of traffic. It expands on the points made by Greg Maxwell a couple of hours ago. It's impossible to claim Craig Wright is Satoshi at this point, you would need to take a big leap of faith to do so. Im not saying he isn't 100%, but at the same time anyone that thinks he's the real deal is being delusional.
237  Other / Off-topic / Being part of this community is more exciting than any movie i've ever seen on: December 09, 2015, 06:52:07 PM
I love how things get more and more surrealistic. I have been here for a couple of years and has been a hell of a ride, if anything I can say that im loving the show. This will make for a great movie in the years to come. A futuristic thriller involving all kinds of interesting characters and disruptive technology that will change everything.
I'll just grab my popcorn, let the developers keep doing a good job, let the speculation continue, and watch the price keep going up as I sit through the ups and downs.

238  Economy / Speculation / This video sums up why you hold through bubbles on: November 04, 2015, 05:23:14 PM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbZ8zDpX2Mg

I've seen this being posted around and it's spot on. No matter how much money you may lose by not selling at the peak, if you hold you will make solid progress because after the coming bubble the floor will be higher than the previous floor. So after a couple of years you will end up with a lot more money than trying to guess the right price to get out which is impossible and a big gamble not worth lossing your long term position over.

239  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How safe it is to download the blockchain from a torrent? on: November 02, 2015, 03:00:19 PM
I was wonder why there weren't frequently updated torrents with the blockchain so you could download it way faster than with the Core wallet. Of course, this is less than ideal, but how much are you compromising by using this method? Let's say you check the SHA256 and MD5 hashes and it matches to the current blockchain. Would then this be safe? (is there even a way to know that the piece of blockchain you are downloading from a source that isn't the Core wallet itself is legit?)
240  Other / Off-topic / Babble logo looks like Bitcoin's on: October 23, 2015, 01:51:40 PM

Did anyone notice this? That big orange B... Cheesy
Also Paypal has started a campaign on TV that advertises Paypal as "payments of the future" or something along the lines. The advertise it as something new and exciting. It's like Applepay, they want to take the spot for "payments on your smartphone" before Bitcoin does. They are scared of the big B.
