Check this out.  The vast majority of posts in this spam megathread say exactly the same thing, and it makes me think this is either a bunch of alt accounts or there's some sort of template circulating in Indonesia or the Philippines.  The basic idea that keeps repeating here is:

In my school , I've heard a lot about bitcoin they are always talking about bitcoin but even though i heard it alot I didnt even try it just because i didn't believe on that and it was too hard to understand the system. First, I apologize if people have given their opinions on this matter in other threads.  Here's an excuse:  I had the flu for 2 weeks (!) right about the time the merit system was rolled out, and if this was discussed in that period I missed it.  And if there was a formal discussion about this after that, I also missed it without excuse.  I do remember actmyname tagging suspected merit abusers early on, and then Theymos saying he was going to exclude him from his trust list.  If there was a thread about this, please link me to it and I'll lock this shortly.

Before I do any more tagging on people I think are abusing the merit system, I'd like the opinions about doing so from these people specifically:

I had expressed hesitation about tagging merit abusers early on, because there's so much subjectivity about the system, but at the same time there are some users who are obviously sending merit to people who don't deserve it.  Obvious to my eyes, anyway.  And that's the problem.  I realize my feedback now carries more weight than someone who's not on DT, and I know I ought to hand out negatives to people who really deserve them.  Do you guys think I, or any other DT member, should be tagging merit abusers?  EthanB suggested in another thread that a neutral might be appropriate, and I don't think that's a horrible idea when there's doubt.  But I don't think neutrals do much good.

I just bought a fly-ass pair of headphones from Newegg at the beginning of December.  No regrets whatsoever, because the pair I was rocking with before was wack.  I paid for them things with bitcoin.

Now yesterday I'm ready to overpay for the SNES Classic system and a refurbished computer (since nobody on bitcointalk seems to want to buy my bitcoin from me via PP).  All is good, all is in my shopping cart--and then when I get to the payment section, the Bitcoin option is grayed out.  What's up with that??  Did they announce they were going to stop taking bitcoin?  I am quite disappointed.  And this seems to be a very recent thing, too.

Any of you guys know anything?

These type of "list the best coin for ___" are ready-made for shitposters, because all they have to do to be on-topic is write:

"XMR, doge, NXT"

...and call it a day.  You don't even need to write any English to answer these.  There are way too many of these kinds of topics--they're not useful, and they really encourage shitposting by illiterate spammers.  So my suggestion is to ban any thread that asks "What coin should I buy" or any variation thereof.  When those threads are created, I think they should be reported and mods should just trashcan them.

I'm interested to hear what the community thinks.

What happened:: Nizar93 started up a thread in the Services section, looking for participants in a 4-day signature campaign, with all participants to be paid in advance.  I PM'ed him stating my interest, and he replied saying I was accepted, and he gave me the code as well.  His original posts have been deleted, but he stated in the thread that all participants were going to get paid within the hour.  Needless to say, this didn't happen.

Additional Notes: Then after whatever participants had worn the code, he claims he was hacked.  Very convenient.  I call bullshit and say he's a liar.  I've tagged him accordingly and would beseech DT members to apply the spraypaint gangbang if they deem my claim to be valid.

If you look at the thread, you'll see a user RealSwissMiner who claims he got paid.  I believe that's also a sham, because I'm pretty sure no one got paid for this scam.  I didn't lose anything but my signature space for less than a day, but I think this needs to be called out.  It's a scam and wastes everybody's time.  Should have known better!

I did a PayPal deal with gameristo a couple of weeks back.  My bitcoin for his PayPal.

He sent the PayPal funds through two different accounts, which I found suspicious.  The accounts had different names.

Then today, he sent $170 PayPal which I did not request, from yet another PayPal address,along with this PM:

I don't want to be involved in any money laundering, which is why I'm not sending the money to another address.  I'm not calling him a scammer, but this is bizarre behavior at best.

I don't usually start topics here, but I'm really curious about this:  Why did Lutpin and Lauda leave negs for Mexxer-2?  I happened upon his feedback page after removing a negative from some account bidder after it'd been a year, and I had some mercy on him.  There's no reference links or anything.  It just says that Mexxer-2 owes Lutpin money.

Is Mexxer-2 still on DT?  You all probably know I don't have DT in my trust list, so I can't tell.  I don't know who has him in their trust list.  It's either that or I'm way too ignorant to figure it out.  And then he hasn't been active in a few months.  It's all very strange.
