Local / Pamilihan / Binance acquiring PH firm to secure VASP & EMI licenses
|
on: September 23, 2022, 11:41:59 AM
|
Ayon sa sinabi ni Kenneth Stern [general manager ng Binance PH], mukhang nakahanap na sila ng workaround sa pag kuha ng mga license dahil nasa final stages daw ang acquisition [source]. Since hindi nila binangit ang pangalan ng firm, we can only speculate... List of firms with both licenses: Zybi Tech, Inc. WIBS PHP, Inc. (not operational) TopJuan Technologies Corporation (not operational) PDAX Philbit Money Changer and Remittance Services, Inc. (PHILBIT) PayMaya Philippines, Inc. i-Remit, Inc. (not yet operational) Anu masasabi niyo sa balitang ito? Personally sa tingin ko hindi parin titigil yung mga tao na nag complain dati...

Economy / Scam Accusations / [SCAM] get-electrum.com - Fake Electrum website!!!
|
on: March 23, 2022, 05:12:03 PM
|
What happened: While I was looking for certain electrum-related information, I stumbled upon a blog that posts about electrum-related guides and tutorials [all of those are probably plagiarized content] and immediately redirects to a fake Electrum website! Reference Link: cryptoformacion.com [because of the redirection part, I couldn't archive it, but this is its "screenshot"]get-electrum.com [archived]- The latest release on the "official Electrum website" is 4.2.0, but on the above fake website it's 4.0.4!
- The verification parts are missing for both "Python sources" and "GPG signatures" sections!
Additional Notes: Domain name: cryptoformacion.comCreation Date: 2021-07-21T07:13:46.00Z Registrar: NAMECHEAP INC Registrar Abuse Contact Email: abuse@namecheap.comRegistrar Abuse Contact Phone: +1.9854014545 Domain Name: get-electrum.comCreation Date: 2021-12-11T03:29:37Z Registrar: GMO INTERNET, INC. For some reason, none of the " URL Redirect Checkers" that I've tried, detects its redirection path [quite strange]!

Local / Pilipinas / Conflicting news tungkol sa pag gamit ng Binance P2P at UnionBank!
|
on: January 15, 2022, 10:12:50 AM
|
Last week, may ilang users na nag post sa Reddit tungkol sa deactivation ng UB account nila, dahil gumamit sila ng P2P sa Binance at hindi ito registered with BSP! Conflicting part: UnionBank Assures It’s Still the Most Crypto-Friendly Bank in the Philippines Amid Reports of Account Closures on Social MediaWhen asked of reports that peer-to-peer transactions and cashing out from Binance, a global crypto exchange, to UnionBank is no longer allowed, Arvie assures the public, “You can go to Binance right now and you’ll see that it’s still allowed.”
When asked about the customers sharing on social media about problems with their UnionBank account because of crypto trading, Arvie said the bank always needs to know two things 1) Who the customer/account holder is and 2) Where is the funds coming from. ~Snipped~ Arvie said accounts that raised suspicions are put on hold and the account holders are given time to provide necessary information and documents to prove where the money came from. “Those who are able to provide (and able to satisfy the bank) have their accounts restored but it’s just that there are some who are really unwilling to provide the documents we need,” said Arvie, who disclosed they are accepting even screenshots of Binance transactions.
Meron ba dito nakatangap ng ganitong notice galing kay UnionBank?

Economy / Reputation / Would you consider the following things as concrete proof for connection?
|
on: October 24, 2021, 07:23:54 PM
|
I've been keeping tabs on two accounts [DarkFlameMaster69 and bookmoniez] for the past month or so [I wanted to find a better proof, but had no luck] and I have a strong feeling that both of them are connected... - Both of them have similar patterns [they keep on ignoring everyone while bumping their threads "a few minutes/seconds apart from each other"]. In addition to what I said, there's the following thing as well [I removed all of the banned accounts from the list]:
I'm wondering if that's enough to connect " DarkFlameMaster69" with other remaining active accounts and hopefully see them getting nuked?

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Can't get inbound connections on Bitcoin Core! [Solved]
|
on: October 16, 2021, 06:18:02 PM
|
After it got fully synched, I went to the information tab to see if finally there's an inbound connection; unfortunately, nothing changed while there are 10 outbound connections! I've already tried the following things, but bitnodes still says "unreachable": - Opened port 8333 [both TCP and UDP] on my router page.
- Added inbound rule for port 8333 on "Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security".
- A VPN connection with a static IP address.
- "Allow incoming connections" is checked [bitcoin core].
Client version: v22.0 Windows: 10 Is there anything else that I could try? Update:I found a workaround of some sort and I'll probably stick with it for the time being [credit goes to "this video"]: Note: It doesn't work with a VPN connection [if you try it, you need to restart your windows to get it back to work].- Steps:
- Download uTorrent
- Option > Preferences > Connections > Listening Port > 8333 > Apply > Ok.
- Keep it open!
Update 2 [solution]:I forgot if UPnP is turned on by default, and I'm assuming the torrent client uses it to open the port. Can you go to Settings>Options>Network and check Map port using UPnP?

Economy / Service Discussion / CoinTelegraph's International sites? [Solved]
|
on: September 28, 2021, 09:11:16 AM
|
Back in the day, CoinTelegraph had a list of its international sites in the footer area of its website, but that's no longer the case! - I do know they're publishing a lot of repetitive articles on each of those sites but from time to time, you'll find a bunch of unique articles as well.Does anybody know where I could find the complete "updated" list? ( Update - Solution [by Potato Chips]) - I've already looked at all of the places on their main site but had no luck. These are the only ones that I could find from " an old archived page" that was taken in Jan of 2017:

Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Offline onboarding on latest Trezor suite update (21.9.2)
|
on: September 17, 2021, 01:15:15 PM
|
Here's what the subject field means: - I do know this doesn't mean being 100% secure but it makes the setup process a bit safer. The Trezor Suite onboarding process has been updated to allow you to complete the process without being connected to the internet. This means that a new Trezor device can be set up without the host machine being actively connected to the internet, improving one’s privacy, security and peace of mind. The onboarding process exists to ensure every customer correctly sets up their wallet without needing to find help online or otherwise exposing themselves to an unsafe environment. They've also added Trezor suite support for Apple Silicon: Native Trezor Suite build for Apple Silicon chips For this version of Trezor Suite, we have made a new native arm64 build optimized for Apple’s Silicon chip architecture, also known as the M1 processor. If you use one of the latest Apple desktop or laptop computers, you can download this version of Trezor Suite from the dropdown menu on the Suite landing page, https://suite.trezor.io. Firmware updates- [emulator] Added option to dump detailed Micropython memory layout
- For Model T only. - Support for Ethereum EIP1559 transactions
- For Model T only, but looks like there might be a "workaround" in the future. - Re-enabled Firo support
- Model One and T. - Security fix for "Stellar"
Other changes:- Model One- Model T
I've updated both the Trezor Suite and the firmware on my Trezor device, but when I went to check the firmware version under the device tab, it still shows the previous one [despite successfully installing the latest one] and on top of that, when I clicked on the "Up to date" button, it said the following: It's not a big issue but is anyone else having the same experience after the updates?
Out of curiosity, has anybody tried testing the Win10 version on the Windows 11 insider preview builds? The release date for Win11 is in less than a month and I still haven't seen any discussion on their forum about creating a native version for the upcoming windows.
