1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining altcoins? on: April 24, 2017, 06:47:24 AM
Hi everyone i have an aws account where i realised i have 200$ credit balance in it. I planned to mine on one of the instances but i was confused which one to select as p2.16xlarge is for 14.4$ a hour and has 64 vcpu. While x1.32xlarge has 128 and is for 13$. So can anyone tell what is the difference between the 2 and also I'm not an expert in linux coding so can anyone help me with how can i mine monero, eth , ltc and dash or any legit profitable coin to mine.
I could use windows servers and download minergate but the prices is really high for windows. And last is it allowed to mine on aws.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Wtf is melon?? on: March 28, 2017, 11:53:09 AM
Now i was going through the coinmarket and i noticed a alt called melon. I'm not sure exactly but as far as i remember the price was around 1$ or something few weeks back. And now i see the price is some 30$ and most of it's supply is already circulating. Is this some self funded coin or there are actual investors because i couldn't find much about it.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Which one would you invest in?? on: March 07, 2017, 01:11:59 AM
Let's say you have been given 1 btc to invest in the given altcoins which one would you invest and also how much will you invest.
Monero - 0.7 btc as the price is stable and has a pretty good growth last year.
Dash - 0.05 btc  I'm just scared if people gamble or trade with it so much it may end up being a dead coin
Eth - 0.1 btc as the price of it increases once a year
Zcash 0.05 btc I feel that this is some sort of scam
And the rest I would just let it remain in my wallet.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Dash = Gambling ?? on: March 06, 2017, 05:14:44 AM
Recently many of you may have clearly noticed the big changes in price of dash it increased then decreased. I think the simple reason for this is a huge investors simply gambling with the coin by first investing some millions and then selling it and then again buying.
What do you guys think of my theory?
Would be a part of this gamble?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which all alltcoins you know .. on: March 05, 2017, 09:07:19 AM
I would like to know which all altcoins you all are aware of and out of those which of them do you will invest
Altcoins I know :
Monero - I will invest as it is profitable for me
Dash - I may invest
Zcash - Not for now
Dogecoin - Very less returns
Litecoin - More like dead coin to me
Byteball - Will not invest
Eth - Will invest soon
Ripple - No as it is good for businesses and not for investors.

9  Economy / Speculation / I'm about to capitulate - WTF is going on? on: February 25, 2014, 04:45:32 AM
The BTC price has been pretty gag inducing for the last several weeks; peeking above $700 a few times, hovering around $600 most of the time with some dips into the $500s. Without saying stupid shit like "Don't invest more than you can afford to lose!" can anyone give me some sound advice? I've been hodling ever since I missed the last all time high. I laughed when bitcoin got valuated at $1300 each but now I feel like maybe it wasn't that funy.

I'm sure the recent dip below $500 is because of this Mtgox shit (which shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone TBH) but what's really going on here?

Big stacks of bitcoins staggering their dump on us?

Market manipulation?

Ghostbusters 3 was announced?
10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How do I start contributing the the Bitcoin project? on: February 14, 2014, 06:10:14 PM
I became interested in Bitcoin because of the hardware mining aspect. It was very fun building and configuring mining rigs. With the advent of ASICs I feel kind of lost and I have no interest in tinkering with scrypt coins. I have some C++ training from college but other than that I'm really a hardware junkie. Where do I fit in here other than buying and running mining equipment?

14  Economy / Service Discussion / **OFFICIAL? - My BTC-e Account Got Hacked and All Funds Stolen thread on: April 11, 2013, 01:46:13 PM
**Please try to keep this as factual as possible**
I'm not wanting to defame anyone here, but I think everyone deserves an explanation.
Support has not responded to me since I regained access and definitively said "My coins were stolen"

I haven't seen a unifying thread yet so I thought I would start one.
Please post here if your BTC-e account was compromised and you lost funds of any kind. Please give details like time/date/$$ lost.
Transaction details if you regained access to your account and saw that someone else withdrew funds.

Edit: April 4, 2013 - Still no official statement from BTC-e about account breaches over the last week. Officially requested BTC reimbursement for lack of security measures, waiting to hear back.
15  Economy / Scam Accusations / BTC-e Account Hijacked? on: April 10, 2013, 01:48:16 PM
I haven't been able to access my account for the last 12 hours. Every time I enter the password it says password invalid. I've gone through 4 of the 30 minute lockouts. Password reset link doesn't email me, etc etc.
I never ever keep more than $1000 USD in my account but I am really concerned none-the-less.
I've sent numerous emails to support with no response. I just found their ticket support system so I am going to do that.

Does anyone have experience with this? Does BTC-e replace funds up to a certain amount?
I feel like I caught this pretty quick, but I'm completely powerless to do anything.
I'm hoping the account got locked because it was logged in from too many locations or something like that. Worst case I'm out 5BTC.

I'll update when I get more information.

Just kind of looking for reassurance here. Never been swindled using BTC before.

18  Bitcoin / Mining / Bitforce 60 on order and WTB more ASIC's on: March 21, 2013, 04:26:27 AM
I have a pretty early bitforce order (#7959 paid 9/12/12) that I'm thinking about ebaying.

The question:
If YOU were to order 3 ASIC units TODAY around the 60GH/S range, which one would you order from what company based on what criteria?
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [3 BTC BOUNTY] SimpleCoin PHP nightmare on: July 03, 2012, 10:08:14 PM
So I have a ubuntu 12.04 vps running poolserverj flawlessly with LAMP installed.
I followed these instructions for installation of simplecoin listed on github:
Code:
Installation:
1. Extract files into web root directory
2. Create simplecoin database in you mysql instance
3. Run simplecoin.sql in your simplecoin database (This will be used for pushpool & simplcoin)
4. Edit includes/requiredFunctions.php and set the bitcoin & database login info
5. Edit all files in the cronjob folder, set $includesDirectory to the correct server path.
6. setup cronjobs on a staggered schedule. I recommend 10-30 minutes for most. I run payout twice daily.

I cloned simplecoin to /var/www and restarted apache.
After 4 days I am still getting the same error:
Code:
apache2: Syntax error on line 238 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Syntax error on line 20 of /var/www/about.php: Could not open configuration file /etc/apache2/("includes/header.php");: No such file or directory

It is trying to look in /etc/apache2/("includes/header.php"); ... wtf is going on?
Please help before I pull my hair out.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / PARTIALLY SOLVED[10 BTC Bounty] Setting up ONE bitforce single on BAMT w/ 4xGPUs on: May 19, 2012, 01:17:17 AM
Here's what I want:
1) I want my bitforce to show up on gpumon (if possible)
2) I want to know why I have only been getting ~350mhs on my bitforce single
3) I want someone to provide a step by step guide for the dumbest person on earth (me) to set up my bitforce single in my existing install of BAMT which is already running 4x GPU's.

What I don't want:
1) Links to guides or other posts
2) Instructions on what to google
3) Instructions on what to search for in the forums

I installed cgminer 2.3.6 and for some reason when I try to start it it will take over my GPUs and I will have to disable them individually.

I did -NOT- edit bamt.conf to try to configure the bitforce. Currently to start cgminer I use ./cgminer -S /dev/ttyUSB0 -o http://mine1.btcguild.com:8332 -u user -p pass -I 9 to start it.. sometimes the bitforce runs, other times it just says "REST".

That's it.
10 bitcoins to the person who can bring my bitforce online with my existing installation on BAMT that is already running. gpumon integration would be ideal, but as I understand it is "gpu"mon and not fpgamon.
