2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN] Peerbet on: June 14, 2016, 09:39:34 AM
Peerbet

Peerbet is no nonsense, simple sports betting site.

https://peerchemist.github.io/Peerbet/

There is no backend, there is no database, there are no accounts, it is all hosted on github and executed from my personal Peerbox.

How it works:

Users place their bets by sending Peercoins to appropriate address.
Each address now represent a pot. Among three pots per game only one can win as bets are for the regular time soccer game only (90 minutes + extra time). Soccer game can end with: home win, guest win or draw. The house (Peerbet) takes the Peercoins from both losing pots, deducts the 5% house fee and distributes the winnings proportionally to input to all the bettors in the winning pool. Users from the winning pot can expect the winning to be distributed within 16h after the regular time of the game has ended. Payment will be sent to the address of the largest input of the bet transaction. Bets are accepted as long as they are included in the block that is issued before the game starts. All the bets that came after will be returned to sender but with five times the fee (0.05). Make sure you own the keys of the address you use, do not use the exchanges. There is no minimum or maximum bet size.

Users, be warned not to send Peercoins from the exchange as system depends on you using your wallet.

I will open-source the backend scripts after the cup ends.

FAQ:

* What happens when there are bets for only one outcome?
- The funds are returned to user.

* What happens when there are bets for only two outcomes?
- If both pots lose, house keeps the winnings. This incentives users to never leave a pot empty.

* Will you continue the project after UEFA Euro 2016?
- No. This is only for this Euro cup with intention of promoting Peercoin.

* What will you do with profits?
- I have already publicly promised that I will donate 40% of the profits to PeerKeeper project by @hrobeers. The rest of it will also be invested into Peercoin related projects.

* Thread on peercointalk about this

4  Economy / Services / [0.5 BTC BOUNTY] Fix Grsecurity for Raspbian kernel on: June 30, 2014, 03:51:10 PM
Peerbox project needs Linux kernel dev to modify Grsecurity patch or Raspbian kernel to work with each other properly.

Problem is grsec patch does not compile on Raspbian kernel (technically it does but not properly).
Raspberry kernel is pretty much non standard and patch needs editing.

I believe next stable branch for both raspbian and grsec will be based on 3.14 kernel.

https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/tree/rpi-3.14.y

http://mirrors.muarf.org/grsecurity/stable/

So getting those two together is step one.

One can work with 3.15.x also, I don't care as long we are close to upstream.

I need everything to be working trough this PKGBUILD script; https://github.com/peerchemist/PKGBLD/tree/master/linux-raspberrypi-grsec
upon all future releases will be based.

Dirty hacks are not accepted, if someone will accept this he must find solution elegant enough to be accepted mainstream, or at least something in form of a patch which can be applied to raspi kernel to make it work with Grsecurity.
So this should solve all future incompatibilities and allow following of upstream releases.

5  Economy / Scam Accusations / [SCAMMER] NothinG on: January 15, 2014, 10:50:46 AM
from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=415865.0

NothinG used to run a pool for which a number of people including myself mined for several days, mining thousands of coins each which is now worth tens of thousands of dollars. After some "personal excuses problems" he promised to return the funds but since disappeared. It was thought he had disappeared from the forum but indeed he is still around. I doubt we will get back all our PPC but I think NothinG should acknowledge his theft and offer some sort of compensation.

edit: guess things got complicated, could have communicated it a bit earlier , i dont know if this is really a scam

Well I actually PM'd NothingG about his pool as I got lots of payouts back in the day off it, but yes probably couple of thousand PPC I never got out... but here is the reply from NothingG

HEY! FuzzyBear

The server company I was with lost the vps during a migration and I wasn't running any backups. I was so busy installing and un-installing the OS, that I didn't have any snapshots. I was working on it for a few days when it went down...

Just to share the information I have

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / new cryptocurrencies cause inflation? on: April 30, 2013, 02:00:24 AM
I was wondering how this works, bitcoin is based on the fact that it is deflational, and so are most other cryptocurrencies (I don't know exactly all details about all of them), but since there are coming more altcoins every couple of weeks, isn't that pretty much the same as inflation (printing money)?  I'm not against altcoins, I'm just wondering what other people think about this.
