4  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] SAMSUNG 840 Series 120GB SSD NEW on: December 20, 2012, 12:51:19 AM
I got this from Microcenter for an upgrade for a laptop I have but after thinking about it a bit I think I might go for a larger one instead so I thought I check and see if anybody wants it before I return it, it's still sealed in the box and I'd take $123 in BTC shipped in the US.

5  Bitcoin / Project Development / [ANN] CryptoCoin Ticker on: December 01, 2012, 04:57:09 AM
I had been using the windows btc price gadget for months and since moving on to windows 8 desktop gadgets are no longer supported, I decided I would just go ahead write my own since I'm tired of looking up all the different alt-coins and my mining stats every time I get on-line. I just thought I'd share this with the community so maybe someone else will get some use out of it as I have. This is a rather generic ticker no fancy gui, no bells and whistles, only the hard numbers just the way I like it, but on the other hand it is quite flexible and can be configured to show you just about any exchange info, mining stats, or block-chain info. When I say "just about" it's not going to extract complex nested json data requiring custom classes or parsing, it uses just a generic string parser and returns the first "key" match if found.

This is not a windows 8 metro app, this just runs in the system tray, uses very little resources and uses a xml configuration file for setup "ticker-list.xml" is the default or can be launched with "CryptoCoinTicker.exe filename" for using different config files, also works under Ubuntu  if mono-complete is installed (has a couple display quirks when removing the border but is ok once restarted and some functionality has been bypassed).

You can change the font, colors and the horizontal and vertical lay-outs in the options menu, a * will appear if the query times out or if the data has not updated. You will get a "Key Error" if the key is not found. Update interval is set at 10 minutes but can be changed as needed.

Here's a quick and dirty set-up guide:
The white spacing in the name and symbols will help line up columns if using a mono-spaced font

Normal data:
Code:
  <Ticker>
    <Name>BTC  </Name>
    <Address>https://mtgox.com/api/0/data/ticker.php</Address>
    <Key>last</Key>
    <Symbol>$</Symbol>
  </Ticker>

No address uses the previous address above it for returning multiple items from same source:
Code:
  <Ticker>
    <Name>High </Name>
    <Address></Address>
    <Key>high</Key>
    <Symbol></Symbol>
  </Ticker>

For a blank line an empty Ticker block:
Code:
  <Ticker>
    <Name></Name>
    <Address></Address>
    <Key></Key>
    <Symbol></Symbol>
  </Ticker>

For a separator character an empty Ticker block with desired character in the symbol slot:
Code:
  <Ticker>
    <Name></Name>
    <Address></Address>
    <Key></Key>
    <Symbol>---------------</Symbol>
  </Ticker>

To return non-json data such as the current block count leave the key slot empty:
Code:
  <Ticker>
    <Name>Blocks </Name>
    <Address>http://blockchain.info/q/getblockcount</Address>
    <Key></Key>
    <Symbol>#</Symbol>
  </Ticker>

8  Economy / Computer hardware / [Closed] Mining rig and 5870s on: October 12, 2012, 07:39:59 PM
All items SOLD!

Lowered prices and noted a few things.

Decided to dismantle rig #3 and offer something a little more value oriented I'll update when I get it together.
The dell/alienware and the gigabyte 5870s are for sale below

Starting to sell off a couple of mining rigs, I'd like to sell them as complete units for now but feel free to make offers on individual components, I will part them out in a week or two if they don't sell. These are pretty much turn key and ready to mine, if you want an individual pic of something let me know. All the bios gpu/memory clocks have been unlocked except for the gigabyte. I added most of the gpu part numbers I could easily find. All prices include shipping in the US48, anywhere else or if you want the boxes (I have most of them) you make up the shipping difference. All prices are in btc equivalent.

Frames: I'm going to attempt to include them, I have located some boxes that the frames will fit into without taking them apart, HOWEVER I will not guarantee their condition when they reach you, they are quite sturdy enough to hold the gpus but if something heavy gets placed on top of the box they are in they might fold up like a cheap tent, I'm going to try to fill up the empty space with some empty boxes to support the top or maybe even put the components in the same box and see if that will work I won't really know until shipping time.

9  Economy / Lending / Looking for 160 BTC loan for 90 days on: May 14, 2012, 08:42:24 AM
I currently have 3 rigs plus a desktop with a 7970 in it @ 5.5 GH/s which earns ~ 95 BTC a month at the current difficulty. I had planned on another rig but a couple of issues came up and I ran out of funds to finish it. Everyone knows time is money and by the time I earn enough to finish the last rig there may not be enough time to pay for itself before the reward drop, not that I think anything will happen but it makes it much harder to invest in mining equipment if it can't pay for itself in a timely manner. I already have a new power supply that I briefly tried to sell here and was just about ready to put it on ebay and move on and thought what the heck maybe somebody will throw me a bone and give me a loan.

I completely understand I have a whole 11 posts here counting this one and this post is definitely prime material for the trolls and I'm eagerly waiting on the comments about getting out of noob jail and straight to the lending section and quite frankly unless I was loaded with BTC and loved to take risks I wouldn't loan to me either but I'm sure I'll be able to satisfy any necessary information a potential lender might need or I wouldn't bother asking.

I know the sum is quite large even for a trusted member to ask for but if I can't fund a complete rig the efficiency is just too low and the return is just too small for the trouble of building one with just a card or two.

The funds would be used to purchase 5 gpus plus motherboard/cpu extenders etc. I'm shooting for at least 1850 MH/s with 5850/5870s unless I can get a stellar deal on 5830s.

Terms:half plus interest on day 60, half plus interest on day 90, I hope to pay off early but I want to make sure I have plenty of wiggle room in case of any unforeseen downtime or massive difficulty spikes.

Interest: I'm open to offers here assuming I get any at all. I know interest rates here are quite high especially if you are extremely high risk as I am but I don't feel like getting raped either, I'm content with what I have already so if I can't get a reasonable rate I'll just pass on it.

For your viewing pleasure: http://postimage.org/gallery/787iu59s/

The rig in the corner is missing a gpu it had a 6970 in it but I sold it and I have a 5870 coming, should be here today and then it will be moved to it's home in the basement.
10  Economy / Computer hardware / [SOLD] New CORSAIR Professional Series HX1050 Power Supply on: May 07, 2012, 02:06:53 AM
I bought this awhile back for another rig but ran out of funds to finish it, it is unopened and still in the plastic wrap.

Asking $135 in btc includes shipping in the US48 or I will cover up to $15 towards shipping to other places.

This link show an updated model as gold rated, the one I am selling is an 80+ silver rated, otherwise they are the same specs.

11  Economy / Goods / [Sold] DIRT Showdown, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Nexuiz: on: May 04, 2012, 12:55:59 AM
Ok I bought a new 7970 and got the three for free game deal. I don't game much I would like to sell them. I obviously have 0 rep here so a trusted escrow service is fine by me. The redemption card still has the scratch off material on it if you prefer snail mail or I can e-mail you the codes.

I was thinking 9 BTC or best offer.

Nexuiz: released today can be downloaded on 5/10
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
DIRT Showdown to be release on May 25
