321  Other / Off-topic / So I think we have a bitcoin groupie on: January 15, 2013, 02:57:01 AM
So for a few months I had been talking to a girl I met on here, I gave her 1btc for things just cause she was cool and cute looking pretty average. We talked about bitcoins and she seemed really interested, that is what got me Sad Fast forward we stopped talking cause she was "Sick". Recently she asked me to invest in a grow house for her, I told her it made me uncomfortable to fund that type of operation. Now I log on to skype to find this gem just waiting for me...

and the story gets better, I told her a close amount of bitcoins I control (it is kinda a lot since she was like in aw about it) before she started hitting me for money, so yeahhhhhhh after that I was just a bag of money, but I never gave her any more than 1btc so I don't feel that bad...
322  Economy / Services / Looking for a CDN (Content Delivery Network) that accepts bitcoins on: January 12, 2013, 06:14:51 AM
I am in the mist of working on a new solo project, that of course involves bitcoins and it is in a niche that would require of moving files. These files are not illegal, and this is not a cyber locker, but there will be many of these files. It would be nice to have an amazon pricing cause I don't know how much space I need.

*This project is still in the planning just trying to field out my options.*
323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Mt Gox Api gives error after ~6 hours on: December 25, 2012, 06:55:59 AM
So I started rewriting my trading bot to be optimized and to implement new trading strategies, so I thought at first that it was cause I was getting the USD and BTC funds in my account then executing a trade and that I had a web socket connection open all at the same time. Then I rewrote the entire way I handle Mt Gox so I can make 2 calls back to back almost every 25 seconds (to be in the 10 seconds window so I am not caught by anti-DDOS measures), then I am only checking USD and BTC funds during startup, after a trade but after my open orders close. But it is always hitting this wall at 6 hours and needs to be turned off for a while before being startup right now it is all simulations (no trade is actually going thru) but I need to fix this before turning on for a live trading. Any help?

P.S.  I don't want to shut it down and restart it, with weird cron scripts, this is written in java
324  Bitcoin / Press / 2012-12-21 Satoshi Nakamoto, named one of the most dangerous people on: December 22, 2012, 03:11:15 AM
http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/12/more-dangerous/

While it was user voted I don't get why he is dangerous?

Quote
Satoshi Nakamoto. The pseudonymous creator of the Bitcoin digital cryptocurrency has seemingly disappeared into the shadows, but his invention lives on with potential to disrupt the powers-that-be. What happens when crooks can move money effortlessly online, without ever being traced? We might soon find out.

I just see lies...
325  Economy / Services / [WTB] Small VPS on: December 18, 2012, 07:16:22 AM
Ok so I have custom software (I wrote it) I need to run on a VPS cause it is written in java. It will not use any database, bitcoind or webserver. I would like to use Ubunut 12.04. I know I could go to a Web host and get one, but then they come with extras I don't need.

I don't need a static IP
There will hardly be any bandwidth
I don't need that much disk space, maybe 10gb at most
I don't need a domain

All I need is SSH access
I would like 100mbps internet connection
1gb of ram
512 swap
2 CPU cores

I would like to get this for ~1.5BTC

If you want more information about it or can help, PM me
326  Economy / Service Discussion / Mt Gox multiple bot trading from the same account on: December 12, 2012, 07:04:26 PM
Ok so right now I been using one MT Gox account to have my bot to trade out of, but I want to implement another bot, so is there anyway to track trades so bot #1 can only trade only transactions it has made or do I have to make another account and is that against TOS?

What is the best way to solve this issue?

329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How many people run a cluster of bitcoinds? on: December 03, 2012, 09:53:47 PM
I am working on a new project, which is actually a pivot of an old project and I am curious as to how many people are running clusters of bitcoinds to get scalability they need.

The beginning is really funny and cool insights, and by the end it pulls those heartstrings but I see the comparison to bitcoins.

332  Other / Off-topic / Bitcoin state rant on: November 28, 2012, 08:22:32 AM
Where are the creative people in the Bitcoin community? I look into Silicon Valley and I see ideas flourishing, really changing the script on what things are possible. I then look at the Bitcoin community and half are trolls, a tiny percent just recreate libraries in different languages, some times creating the same library in the same language, another percent are just remaking sites that already exist with no updated features for quick profit. While greed is good, isn't this what sealed part of the faith for fiat currencies. This makes me sick, for a couple of reasons. One we need to draw in the other side crowd only so many of them will play the 5 Satoshi dice clones. We are at a huge peak, from outside companies and VC's this is exactly what we wanted, but now creatively in this community sits at an all time low. I can't remember the last time someone made an announcement on the project subforum and I was blown away. How are we suppose to show people the beauty of Bitcoin when the sites are becoming stale and not pushing that boundary.

Now I know many people are going to write "why don't you make something?" or "You create something that will be awesome". The answer is very simple I have an Evernote notebook filled with ideas, many of them half started. Also I walk around all day writing more ideas. Time is valuable to me and everyone, if only I had enough time I would be building some awesome projects. I have also stopped work on most of my projects as well, cause I realized a software niche that has to be filled, and I hope to fill it. During this time of writing I have added more things to my notebook. So I know this looks like an attack but this is just tough love to the community that I value so highly and hope some new people will get the bug to create things that make this community shine.
333  Bitcoin / Project Development / [idea] Bitcoin AppEngine Clone on: November 27, 2012, 09:37:51 PM
Ok so google app engine has raised prices of there datastore, so I think someone should create there own appengine, payable by bitcoins.

http://code.google.com/p/appscale/

That is the code all open sourced basically you drop it in write some nice front software, to accept bitcoins, profit.
334  Economy / Services / If you need a programmer, or help in programming Great Offer inside on: November 25, 2012, 05:56:38 AM
If you need a programmer or help in programming for one week, I will only be charging 2 BTCS for programming of small projects aka scripts (I have the right to refuse if the project sounds too big or give you a separate quote), if your stuck on an issue or problem, if you need help with writing or designing how to build the software.

So it is only 2 btcs per project (up to 4 hours of work), and this is for one week.

The reason I am doing this is I am working on personal bitcoin projects that have me tied up so I can't work on huge projects to make coins.

So send in your request...

Edit:
Java,PHP,MYSQL,HTML,CSS, Javascript, Bash are the only things that I will consider.
335  Other / Off-topic / Does anyone have a blog about any outdoor activity or activities that use GPS? on: November 14, 2012, 03:33:13 PM
If you have a blog, that deals with boating, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, geocaching or anything that uses GPS, pm me, I want run something by you and show you a cool new web site I built that has nothing to do bitcoin.
336  Bitcoin / Project Development / [Idea/Announce] Bitcoind Proxy on: November 13, 2012, 07:47:39 PM
I recently posted in a security about how I handle security for my bitcoind, I actually built a "proxy" which is written in java with a couple php cron jobs. A couple people pmed me about releasing or them scoring a copy I never thought I would release so it is kinda hacky, but it got me thinking if enough people want it to be release I can clean it up (which is making it more modular and no php cron jobs) and give it out.

So basically how it works, is that you have your bitcoind running on the same server as this proxy which connects to it (as of now it only connects on a certain port I use and only looks for the localhost this would have to be changed). The proxy is built on top of Jetty giving you a web server, without having to run apache. I wrote it cause security isn't that great with bitcoind, but this extends that, first it eliminates all get methods and every method is passed thru as a post. It also eliminates having to connect to your bitcoind, so no username or passwords in your actual code (I am actually considering if this is on the same server, it will read the bitcoin.conf file for that information), it employs using whitelisted ips and signing each command to the proxy(right now it is just a SHA-1 (probably changing) hash of the method with a secret token that is generated and passed). It also allows you blacklist ips, I never used it but it is there. It also allows time sensitive commands, so if basically it would write that to mysql and php cron job would pick on that if I was decided to release that would be written in java, and no output of that. It also logs every transaction so you can see what was done at what time (It logs, the ip of the server that access the proxy, the method that was called)

This would not be done overnight, it would take awhile actually, cause it was first written as a set of php scripts, then I need more robust so I been slowly converting it into a java program.

Leave questions, comments, and feature request...

Edit: Resovled

So this guy, decided that he need a list of steam ids and after he created deals with 3 different people in pms, including myself. He thought a simple sorry, and of course went with the deal that was free. I have the pms which theymos can verify showing that he asked for an address and he would send a payment (.25btcs) which I never got.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=67815

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=122626.0

He locked the thread.

Lets get a scammer tag on him

PMS

I do the stream scrapper in php if you want, also how much you paying?

I'll give you 0.1 BTC, since it's not a very complex task. Is that alright with you?

I was thinking 1btc, it isn't complex but it takes time and time is valuable

Let's make it 0.25 BTC.

Give me an address to send to.

I'll probably have more random bigger tasks for you in the future too C:

<Bitcoin Address removed for privacy>

I have yet to received payment, and I have the list for you. So as soon as I get my payment I will give you the list.

This guy did it for free: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=30961

Sorry I haven't replied to your PMs until now, I don't check this forum much sometimes.

very sorry
338  Bitcoin / Project Development / [Gauging Idea] Playing IRC bot games for Bitcoins on: November 10, 2012, 07:31:21 AM
A while ago I found my old IRC bots for games like duck hunt, mafia, hangman, and a couple others. Would anyone be interested if I set up a room for some mafia, that required you to ante up some bitcoins to play, it is better than gambling you can control the outcome. Would anyone be up for that? Just want to Gauge interested, I have already started updating them.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_(party_game)

Also side note if anyone needs an IRC bot hit me up I can write it in java, pretty fast.

P.S.S If anyone knows an IRC server that allows rooms to blocks whois, cause that is a way to cheat, hit me up also

For those that are saying who cares about Kenneth Reitz, he is a very good python programmer, he has created Request. He even worked with and contacted Apple as an independent to get the Mac OSX GCC released as a stand alone installer. I really don't want him to fall for Zhou's domain service just saying. Do the right thing!

And tweet this guy about how he is idiot

This is when I shake my fist, and yell BITCOIN we told him a month ago about it and he didn't want to add it himself and now this maybe it will show him that fiat currency isn't the answer in transactions like this. Micro-transactions are the way, bitcoin is the way... When we will people listen.
