1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Radeon VII or RTX2080 on: February 10, 2019, 04:55:10 PM
Hey guys, I've been away from the scene for a while - I'm in the market for a new GPU (mostly for gaming, but I want it to be crypto friendly too)

I'm aware of the pros/cons of the Radeon VII and the RTX2080 for gaming - but would like to know which folks think offers the most potential for mining usage?

Thanks!
2  Economy / Economics / Spend Bitcoin as Fiat from Phone? on: July 29, 2017, 12:50:19 PM
Are there any usable options that allow us to load BTC to a phone wallet (only a small amount, so not real worried about security) and then walk into a store and pay for groceries (priced in the local Fiat) using part of the BTC balance?

Clearly there would be no card, so it would have to be some kind of NFC, Android pay, other contactless solution.

3  Economy / Service Discussion / Secure Email Recommendations? on: July 23, 2017, 10:30:52 AM
Is anyone purchasing paid (obviously) email hosting with their BTC?

Any recommendations on providers - pros/cons?

I know countermail offers it.  Do folks generally consider them secure? do they have any competitors in the field?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Cryptodechange (UK) - any recent users? on: July 09, 2017, 11:06:12 PM
I'm thinking about buying some Amazon GC using Dash from cryptodechange.

Has anyone had dealings with them recently?  They are pretty inactive on social media, and I can't find much in the way of (recent) reviews.
5  Other / Meta / Where do I see updates to Watched threads? on: July 07, 2017, 07:40:51 AM
I have been marking some threads with the 'watch' status, but don't see where I can actually view updates to those threads in this forum software.

Are there instruction somewhere on how to keep tabs on watched threads?

Thanks!
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Request for help using regest on: July 23, 2015, 09:36:18 PM
I'm attempting to use regtest as in this tutorial:
https://bitcoin.org/en/developer-examples

When I issue this:
bitcoin-cli -regtest generate 101

I get a failure:
'you must set rpcpassword=<password> in the configuration file:
/home/ubuntu/.bitcoin/bitcoin.conf'

I add that file and instead get the error:
'incorrect rpcuser or rpcpassword (authorization failed)'

Do I need particular rpcuser/rpcpassword values in order to use regtest?  Any suggestions as to what I may have missed?

Thanks
