44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Adding second 7970 lowers hash rate of first on: June 08, 2013, 02:13:31 PM
I have been running a powercolor 7970 for a couple of months with a msi 6970 in the second slot (getting 610kh/s mining litecoin on the 7970). I just got a XFX 7970 back from RMA and decided to replace the 6970 with it.

Now I can get 610kh/s with the XFX in the second slot but no matter what I do the Powercolor in the first slot won't go much over 500kh/s. I'm using the same settings for both:

8192, i13, w256,g2,lookupgap2... etc. Clocks are at 875 core and 1375 memory.

Computer has 8gb of ram...

I deleted the scrypttahiti and scryptcaymen files in the folder... no luck.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Andrew

Add for shipping

46  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTT] Two Radeon 5970s for two 7970s or 5x 7870s on: May 01, 2013, 04:40:39 PM
Have two 5970s with artic cooling fans on them.

Both in great shape. I allways run my cards undervolted and stock clocks but playing around with them the other day I got them to 360kh/s per core at 800 core and 1000 memory 1.049 volts. They run cool so I'm sure they could go much higher.

Anyways, I'm looking for either sapphire or xfx branded 7970s, 7950s, or 7870s.

Let me know what you have...

You ship first. Upon receipt I ship the 5970s.

Thanks!
Andrew
47  Economy / Currency exchange / [WTS]$408.68 in btc-e code... Wire Transfer or Cash Deposit into my bank on: April 30, 2013, 05:27:19 PM
Hey guys...

Sold some litecoins to test the process and I am not happy with any of the withdraw methods...

So, If anyone wants some cash in BTC-e and has a hard time getting it in lets make a deal. Looking for equivalent funds in USD deposited into my wellsfargo checking via CASH Deposit. Or a wire transfer to said Wells fargo account.

If you absolutely need more than $400 I could probably do an btc-e code up to $1000 USD for equivalent funds.

First person to contact me and transfer the money into my account wins!

Thanks,
Andrew
48  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTRepair] Any ASICs, Avalon... etc that are having issues. on: April 29, 2013, 01:31:48 PM
I have a couple of years of experience repairing graphics cards and other hardware. My WTB Broken Graphics Card thread has been pretty successful with several successful repairs for customers as well.

Since ASICs have been out for a couple of months I was wondering if anyone had any that were on the fritz or had stopped working.

Basically I'd be willing to repair the ASIC for a small fee ($20 - $40 per unit, possibly more depending on complexity of repairs).

You would have to shoot me a description of the problem and anything you had tried to fix it. I would then estimate cost of repairs and likelyhood of a fix working.

Please let me know if you or anyone you know is interested. If warranties are involved I will not do anything to void a warranty. I understand that many people would like to try a quick repair in the US before shipping any piece of hardware overseas for warranty service.

Things I can do: Trace circuits, Reflows, soldering/desoldering, replacement of surface mount components, network module replacement, general trouble shooting... etc. (once again I will not employ any of these steps that will void an active warranty)

*** Expedited shipping both ways is acceptable as well ***

Ok guys, I think thats about it. Please feel free to post here or email me with questions!

Thanks!
Andrew

54  Economy / Currency exchange / WTB: $1000 in bitcoin or litecoin on: April 11, 2013, 03:26:13 PM
Hey guys,

Looking for bitcoins or litecoins right this second.

I'd like to buy $1000 in litecoin at the current BTC-E rate... The caveat, I would like to pay in paypal. I have over a hundred successful transactions on the Hardware Forum and will not do a charge back.

PM me if interested.

Thanks,
Andrew
55  Economy / Goods / WTB: Silver or Gold ... Coins, bars... etc on: April 11, 2013, 04:40:43 AM
So I'd like to buy some silver or gold.

My terms... Simple: just want to pay spot prices or as close to spot as possible. I WILL NOT pay 10% over spot no matter what. The way I figure, bitcoins and litecoins have a much larger potential for growth, and if you are looking to sell gold or silver you realize this.

Looking to buy $500 to $3000 depending on what ya got.

Let me know what you have and what you want. Can pay in bitcoin, litecoin, and paypal.

Thanks,
Andrew
56  Economy / Goods / WTB: Engagement Ring on: April 03, 2013, 06:13:02 PM

Since we are getting close I guess I need to start looking Roll Eyes

Let me know what ya got and what ya wan't for it.

Would prefer to pay in litecoin or paypal (moving money to bitcoin is possible though).

Pictures are preferred.

Thanks,
Andrew

57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Need some help with my litecoin solo mining. on: April 02, 2013, 09:18:31 PM
So I have litecoin-qt up and running and I have 3 computers solo mining litecoin right this second. I am pulling about 3800kh/s but I have only found two blocks so far. Looking at a calculator or two one would expect to find on average about 1 block a day with my setup.

Because of this I am wondering if something is wrong.

More about my setup:

So on my main gaming rig I have a 7970 and a 6950 mining away getting about 1000kh/s combined (yeah, the diamond 7970 is a piece of junk and only pulls 520kh/s)... These two cards are getting a good bit of HW errors (20 or so each after a couple of days up) and haven't had anything accepted after 7 days.

Litecoin-qt is running on this comp and the config looks like this:

"
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
rpcallowip=*
rpcport=9332
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0

block_nTime=1317972665
block_nNonce=2084524493
maxconnections=24
"

I set max connections to 24 as I was having difficulty connecting to many nodes and someone suggested this... This is counterintuitive as you would think you don't want to limit your connections so please let me know if this is wrong.

Also, could it be rcpallowip=* is not right? I believe I just had the IPs of the other computers hardcoded into the config file when the first two blocks were found...

Second rig:

has 3 7870s.... getting about 10 or so rejected shares... None accepted so far but only been mining 3 or so days

Third Rig:

3 5970s... I believe this is the computer that has submitted all the shares so far but I can't be sure because it shut down before I could check it. Since day two (after both blocks were found) it has not had anything accepted and has 10 or sorejected per core.

Thanks for any input or suggestions,
Andrew
58  Economy / Computer hardware / WTS: 4x Brand new Powercolor 7870 pcs+ Tahiti LE [SOLD] on: April 01, 2013, 07:46:10 PM
So, I ordered 4 of these cards last week and no matter what I do, I cannot get them to hash over 330kh/s... Hopefully someone else can have better luck.

I would RMA them to Newegg but they are going to charge me a restocking fee of $157 bucks.

With a good overclock I believe you should be able to get 500kh/s out of them but I obviously couldn't get that.

Anyways, I am looking for $210 equivalent in bitcoins for the cards by themselves. I will include the bioshock and tomb raider codes for $235.

I will ship only the cards unless you wan't to pay extra shipping for the boxes and accessories. I can include a copy of my invoice so that you can RMA if the situation ever arises. Would also be happy to help with RMAing them.

I am looking for the above prices in bitcoin or litecoin equivalents. If I have successfully traded with you in the past I will accept paypal.

59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Powercolor 7870 LE (Tahiti) - NEED HELP! on: March 27, 2013, 10:59:27 PM
Ok guys. I'm setting up a rig for a buddy I work with and I'm about to throw the damn Powercolor cards out the window.

Specs:
A6-5300
Asrock extreme 6
4gb of ddr3
1000 watt OCZ gold
and 2 or 3 Powercolor 7870 tahitis

Problem:

No matter what settings I use I cannot get the cards to mine over 330kh/s. The cards are voltage locked so I can't adjust that. Stock clocks are 925 core and 1500 mem.

example cgminer .bat:

cgminer --scrypt -o http://litecoinpool.org:9332 -u x -p x --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256

This is stable and gets me 330kh/s any intensities over 13 cause massive hardware errors

if I try:

cgminer --scrypt -o http://litecoinpool.org:9332 -u x -p x --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 16384 -g 1 -I 13 -w 256

cgminer won't start

basically nothing I try will get these cards to run... To boot, they artifact if turned up to the first setting listed above.

I've tried them on my test bench and get the same results. I tried reaper and got shutdowns, false starts at settings that would give good kh/s.

Should I just return all these cards? ( I have 4 of them)

Thanks for any help you can give.
