2  Economy / Lending / [2BTC Max] Loan Service on: March 13, 2018, 09:27:12 AM
Hello Bitcointalk!

I would like to offer a bitcoin loan to anyone who has altcoins to offer as collateral. I can fund up to 2 BTC.

Please post your loan offers using this form, PMs will be ignored:

Loan Amount:
Interest to be paid:
Due date:
Collateral Offered:

Obviously you need to offer 120% of the Loan Amount + interest on due date as minimum.

For escrow, I would prefer to hold the alts but if you prefer to use an escrow you have to pay for the fees and also probably higher collateral value.

Note: This thread was made just on top of my head and probably I'll update it later when I get the time to study how the veteran lenders do it.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 51% attack, possible with segwith2x? on: November 08, 2017, 09:20:36 AM
So I've been reading an article on Coindesk recently, about a new possibility of a 51% attack.

Link here, https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoins-bogeyman-cometh-segwit2x-51-attack/.

From what I understood, it is the ability of a miner with 51% hashing power of the whole network to be able to control bitcoin transactions. They can possibly not confirm a transaction, change a transaction, and other awful effects. This attack almost happened 3 years ago with ghash.io mining pool almost reaching 51% (they were so close, when they reached 50% hashing power).

Now, fast forward to today, this attack is again looking possible because, from what I read, the segwit2x was being pushed by a group of miners, that, if combined, will result to 80% of the hashing power of the world. Well that is assuming the pool members will not leave their respective pools that joined the new york agreement. From my further readings, the people that met for the new york agreement had a close door meeting, hence there is no clear information that discloses what they talked about in there.

What if these people colluded to attack bitcoins using the 51% attack? Do you guys think this is a possibility and will those entities that are pushing for segwit2x attack the network?
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Tips/picks/predictions are flooding the gambling discussion section on: October 18, 2017, 11:55:09 PM
I posted a while back a thread about this, somewhat not similar to this one as it is asking about whether you guys think these threads should be move.

Now this thread is about the situation here on the gambling discussion section. I believe there are too many of these threads around here and I think it's flooding this section. I see about 10+ of these threads on the first page everyday.

Probably now is the time to create a new subsection for these topics. Since I think they are a class of their own and should be grouped into their own place.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Should there be a childboard for sports prediction, tipster and similar threads? on: September 29, 2017, 08:23:23 AM
I think there should be a separate childboard for predictions and tipsters threads, especially for the latter.

It would be better to compile all the tipster threads for purposes of compare each one side by side and since I don't think these kinds of threads are really discussing concepts in gambling but more of what to bet on.

I don't know, what do you guys think?
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Have you cashed-out bonuses from casinos? on: February 17, 2017, 12:14:09 AM
Basically, have you reach the roll over requirement casinos and sportsbooks require to cash-out your bonuses?

So far, I haven't. Since, I think the roll-over requirement is really stupid and requires you a minimum of 40-100 roll-over of your initial deposit or the amount of bonus you are entitled to before you can cash out. Meaning, from a bonus of 10 mBTC, you have to gamble around 1 Bitcoin (a whole bitcoin!) just to cash-out just 10 mBTC worth of bonus.

Can you guys tell me, if anyone has done this?

Have you cashed-out bonuses from casinos?
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Would you gamble your (or your child's) school fund? on: December 20, 2016, 01:05:47 PM
Well, I would say that I did this back in 2014. My mother already deposited all the money I need to pay for school for the year and also some allowance for my daily needs. I gambled around half of it on NBA odds. I lost that half. So I lived on really cheap food and really avoided buying anything. I even tried to avoid buying things I need like books just to save money. Was a gruesome year for me, luckily I got through. Wouldn't do that again.

How bout you guys, would you do it?
8  Economy / Economics / Will governments create their own cryptocurrency that will replace fiat? on: November 24, 2016, 02:45:28 AM
In the next 100 years, do you think Governments will create their own cryptocurrency or digital currency that will replace fiat currency, i.e. coins, paper money, the paper dollar,  etc.?

If it does happen, will it be like bitcoin or will it still represent gold like how today's money works?
