4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Where in Linux is .terracoin folder ??? Trying to create terracoin.conf on: April 22, 2013, 04:51:38 AM
Ok i've compiled terracoind ok no issues there.

It's in xubuntu@xubuntu~/terracoin/src/ (ie /home/xubuntu/terracoin/src/)

I now need to create .terracoin/terracoin.conf which fails due to permissions error when using 'nano' or 'cat'.
sudo nano /home/xubuntu/.terracoin/terracoin.conf (wont save)
sudo cat /home/xubuntu/.terracoin/terracoin.conf (wont create)

So where the hell is .terracoin as it's not the same dir as ~/terracoin
5  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Cgminer Xubuntu not detecting GPU's on: April 20, 2013, 03:17:53 AM
After trying Ubuntu 12.04 and it totally failing to even install ATI drivers correctly i moved onto trying Xubuntu 12.04 with a slight improvment.

Aticonfig is detecting my cards correctly but CGMiner is not detecting any of them.

Code:
xubuntu@xubuntu:~/cgminer-master$ sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --odgt

Adapter 0 - ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 42.00 C

Adapter 1 - ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 35.00 C

Adapter 2 - ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 35.50 C
xubuntu@xubuntu:~/cgminer-master$ export DISPLAY=:0
xubuntu@xubuntu:~/cgminer-master$ export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
xubuntu@xubuntu:~/cgminer-master$ ./cgminer -n

Any ideas?

Running Headless USB Xubuntu 12.04

Graphics Drivers: sudo fglrx fglrx-amdcccle fglrx-dev
Then intitialized with: sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --initial
Then AMD SDK 2.8, ADL 5.0, CGMiner Master branch.
Rebooted inbetween etc.

CGMiner Build Instructions and Output:
Code:
xubuntu@xubuntu:~/cgminer-master$ ./autogen.sh

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Scrypt LTC/NVC mining issue - Linux guru's required on: April 15, 2013, 04:35:44 AM
Having an issue getting --thread-concurrency up to what it should be capable of.

System Setup:
XFX 5870 1GB
4GB onboard ram
Running Ubuntu 12.04 off USB 8GB pendrive
Running CGminer 2.11.4
ATI drivers 13.1 and SDK 2.8 (all 32bit)

Only achieving about 150Mh/s and can't get above --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 2048 as it complains the memory buffer exceeds 1GB.
It's as if it's only making use of 1GB of dram on the card and not using the available system RAM.
System monitor in Ubuntu reports 3GB system Ram is free.

Note similar setup on my Windows Vista machine running a 5850 1GB can reach 340Mh/s+ with --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 and that only has 2GB system ram.

So any linux guru's out there no why my Ubuntu setup is not making use of the system ram of scrypt mining?
Is it because i'm running off USB so it's reserving Ram for swap/ramdrive? If so how do i free some of it up?

Edit:
BTW it all runs full wack no issues with SHA256 coins BTC/PPC/TRC.

Cheers

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Litecoin on 5850 Kh/s incorrect on: April 01, 2013, 01:50:18 PM
Can anyone explain why when i mine litecoin cg-miner is reporting 340Kh/s yet on the pools it's only showing about 16-20Kh/s.

Tried different pools, notroll.in, suprnova.cc, coinatron
9  Economy / Scam Accusations / SCAM WARNING!! FROM User BitcoinDoubleSpender on: January 05, 2013, 02:34:36 AM
Beware if you recieve the following private message, It's a blatant SCAM:

Quote
You have just been sent a personal message by BitcoinDoubleSpender on Bitcoin Forum.

IMPORTANT: Remember, this is just a notification. Please do not reply to this email.

The message they sent you was:

For those of you that are aware of the digital currency Bitcoin: There has been a discovery of a exploit that utilizes the worlds first Quantum computer. This exploit is not illegal as no Governent controls the bitcoin network, nor backs it. The Bitcoin network runs a series of algorythms at extremely fast speeds, in comparison to classical computers, which the network runs on. This happens for BOTH receiver and sender to certain bitcoin rcv address programmed into the algorythm.

In other words while the payment is in idle circulation it can be spent twice, (this is the time it takes for the Bitcoin network to catch up, quantum computing can run at full speed for only so long.)

Do NOT try to spend more then twice with same addresses, I will not process orders and I will send the Bitcoins back because Bitcoin Network will catch on.

This is working as of January 04 2013 its no telling when this exploit may be fixed.
I take 50% of profits off double payments, so really your receiving 150% of your payment. for example 10 bitcoins = you get 15 back.
I paid over 117,000$ for the D-Wave F600 don't complain about my fee's. I am looking for many users in a short period to make most profit before exploit is found. If you like the service please tell as many people as you can.

HOW TO USE:
You need to make two addresses. You can go to the website http://blockchain.info/ and make multiple addresses. After you have made two addresses send email with the address to BitcoinDoubleSpender@yahoo.com and send the bitcoins to --> 1YauBXqmy8fSnuMV444Py9g1zN5oFk6w7<--
The algorithm will only work with WHOLE numbers at this point . So the minimum amount you can double is: 1 bitcoin (not .1 or .01) You can send 1 or 10 or 32 but NOT 1.23 or 10.50!! So ONLY whole amounts -- no cents.
You can use as many times as you wish for any whole amount. I have experienced one issue with a client using a wallet version 0.51, so make sure your wallet is updated. This will not be a problem if Blockchain.info is used.
Payment will on average be doubled within 5-20 minutes, and will never take longer then 1 hour after order. Understand that each order has to be processed manually do NOT complain if it takes longer then 20 minutes. Each time you double spend you must use two new addresses, a new sender and receiver address. This is so Bitcoin network does not catch on. Also, I predict once this exploit is found and used by others with access to quantum computing the price will plumit to an all time low. Bitcoin as a monetary system is doomed to fail. SELL YOUR BITCOINS AS SOON AS YOU CAN.

10  Bitcoin / Mining / Stale/Invalid Blocks - Acceptable Rate? on: October 01, 2012, 12:36:59 PM
I've setup my Radaeon 5850 clocked at 870/300 (left voltage alone).

I'm getting around 360-390Mhs, fan at 70% steady 60 degrees.

I've had about 4000 blocks processed and about 50 invalid/stale.

Is this ok or should i reduce the clock slightly?

My motherboard has only 1 PCI-Express slot, currently with a Radeon 5850 running.

I've have plenty of room in the case and spare power cables to run another 5850.

For bitcoin mining can i crossfire a second card, without it actually being plugged into a PCI-Express slot?

A little over a week ago ngzhang anounced his proposed production of the 'Avalon' ASIC with >= 60Ghs for about $1299 (about double the hashrate of BFL's Single 'SC', and Cablepair's bASIC)

Since then:
BFL have announced their Single 'SC' will now hash at 60Ghs (from 40Ghs) @ $1299
Cablepair has announced their bASIC will now hash at 54Ghs (from 27Ghs) @ $1069 (now selling 27Ghs version @ $599)

Were both BFL and Cablepair originally pricing their units at more than 100%+ markup of the cost of production and development?
Because as i see it they cannot afford to produce these now and make any profit.

Also how have they done it?
1) Are they just doubling the number of boards in each unit? (Only viable option if they have already started PCB production)
Or
2) Have they doubled the number of chips on each board? (Only viable if they haven't started production yet)

In either case i can not see any of these ever hitting the market before Christmas. My money is going firmly back in my wallet until some real devices hit the real world, because all i see at the moment is BS.

How long are we kept as Noobs in this forum for?

Just ordered an Asic Avalon, so would be useful if i could post in those relevant forums.

Thanks
