I've setup my Radaeon 5850 clocked at 870/300 (left voltage alone).

I'm getting around 360-390Mhs, fan at 70% steady 60 degrees.

I've had about 4000 blocks processed and about 50 invalid/stale.

Is this ok or should i reduce the clock slightly?

By "blocks processed", so you mean "shares submitted" ?

If you've submitted 4000 shares, with 50 stale, then that's ~1.2%. I've heard of lower (0.5% or lower is considered good), but I also don't think that's a huge problem.

What miner and pool are you using?

ease off your overclocking a little and see if it makes a difference
if it reduces your stales and increases accepteds you will be ahead of running it flat out and submitting stales
most people are happy under 1% so you aren't far off the mark. Obviously the lower you can get stales the better off you are Smiley
