21  Other / Meta / [REQ] Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian section in the "Other Languages" forum. on: December 15, 2014, 09:31:40 AM
Hello. We'd like to request a dedicated section for these three languages.
The languages are very similar and we can understand each other perfectly fine. The threads became quite large in the subforum and maybe it's time for a dedicated section.
Also, a staff member probably approves it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=25215.msg9838312#msg9838312
If required, I'll gladly perform moderation on the subforum.

Thanks.
22  Bitcoin / Project Development / [ANN] BitTourist - The open source tourist platfom on: December 14, 2014, 09:29:33 PM

BitTourist

BitTourist is a new innovative platform currently under development. It is imagined as a platform for all people that rent apartments for tourists and maybe even for hotels and similar places.
BitTourist is imagined to be an entirely minimalistic open-source platform consisted of two Raspberry Pis, a network router and an external (possibly of large storage) hard drive for use with one of the Raspberry Pis.

The platform is imagined to be backed by Bitcoin and encourages tourists to use Bitcoin.

Features:
BitTourist is imagined to be an Intranet inside the house/rented apartment. The platform would be accessed when connected to the house's WiFi. The network itself would offer Internet connection for clients/tourists and would also offer the before mentioned Intranet access where the client would be able to access the local website.

The website itself would offer:
  • Video or audio content of :
    - Local culture
    - Places to visit
    - City history
    - Recommendation of local food
    - etc.
  • Local radio:
    - Local Intranet radio with choice of music genres, or with local music
  • Old and new photos of the city's tradition, people, buildings...
  • ... and possible other features

Access to certain features would be made available by paying with Bitcoin, as well as the entire tourist's stay in the apartment.

My goal is to collect an undefined amount of funds, possibly by crowdfunding so I can buy routers, Raspberry Pis, cables, and everything I need to get the project running.
The entire project will be published on GitHub and will be open-source forever.

If you like and want to support the project, please donate:

23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [SOLVED] bitcoin-qt "No block source available" on: November 19, 2014, 08:19:51 PM
Hi.
I installed bitcoin-qt from the official Arch Linux repository and I can't seem to sync the blockchain.
I've been through all the basic stuff, added some fallback nodes... Nothing.
Port 8333 is open in my router and bitcoin-qt reports 12 active connections, but still says "No block source available."
Is there a workaround to this or will I have to use an alternative client?

Here's a screenshot:

25  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / bitcoin-qt and transactions on: June 20, 2014, 01:10:19 PM
I'm wondering if it's possible to intercept bitcoin-qt (bitcoind) traffic and change the address bitcoins are going to.
I experienced this once when sending to MtGox and I'd like to know what actually happened.

I sent a tx to one address, typed in my wallet password and sent the tx. It went to a different address, but my MtGox account was still funded.
Was it just a compressed address or something else?

31  Other / Meta / [Suggestion] "Top" link on: December 28, 2013, 09:45:18 PM
I'm kinda in a need of a [Top] link at the bottom of the forum that would take you back to the top of the page when clicked. I don't wanna sound selfish though, I believe others would find use for this as some threads can get pretty big.
Besides, I'm too lazy to press Home on my keyboard Cheesy

Thoughts?
