1  Bitcoin / Hardware / HashFast thread derailment part 3 on: December 24, 2013, 02:18:19 PM
The signal to noise ratio here is astounding Angry
There is no signal at all, and it's not our fault.

You and the trolls like you are the explicit example of who's fault it is.
2  Economy / Goods / FS: Valentine 1 Radar Detector on: August 24, 2013, 04:29:32 PM
I'm selling a V1 radar detector with V1.8.A-POP2 with Euro Mode.  This is considered one of the best radar (if not the best) detectors on the market.  It comes with window mount and hard wire kit (for wiring directly into your car's electrical system, avoiding the obnoxious cigarette lighter coiled cord hanging all over the place).

Works great, no problems with it at all.

Looking for 3 BTC OBO shipped.

3  Economy / Goods / Motorola Xoom 10" 32GB Tablet with 4G + Dock + Car Adapter on: July 08, 2013, 03:47:36 AM
I have a good condition Motorola Xoom 32GB 10" tablet with Verizon 4G + Dock + Car Adapter (and wall adapter of course) available...

Look for $250 in BTC shipped in the US OBO.

4  Economy / Scam Accusations / Phinnaeus Gage scammer tag request on: June 17, 2013, 06:03:49 AM
I would like to nominate Phinnaeus Gage for a scammer tag.  He has openly admitted that he made a promise to donate and now intends to break that promise to donate $200 to a charity of my choice because he simply doesn't feel like parting with $200 now.

I am unable to locate the original post (perhaps he's deleted it?)

He upped the original amount from $100 to $200 here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=119338.msg1284447#msg1284447
Quote
Speaking of charities, Josh. I'm upping my bit with you, of which you don't have to put anything up, to $200 USD, instead of the original $100 USD. I did read that you're having misgivings about EFF, so feel free to change your mind when the time comes where I hopefully have to pay out.

Tonight, I was copied on a PM that states he has no intention of honoring his commitment:

Quote
To be fair, I will concur that the bet (for lack of a better word) is satisfied as far as your obligation is concerned. It also satisfied my promise (mine was not a bet) to donate to a cause stipulated by Josh/BFL.

But, sadly, I am reneging on my promise for reasons I've outline on this forum. I may reverse that renegeration (just made that word up) at some future time, but for now I'm holding fast.

Me is no happy camper at the moment (nothing to do with your promise/bet, so don't take it personal, though feel free to judge me by my current action).

Mods are welcome to check my PM inbox for a PM from PG and verify that what I say is true.  Since PG admits he made a commitment and now openly admits that he has no intention of following through, I think a scammer tag is more than warranted at this point.

5  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Buy Pieces of Bryan Micon @ WSOP 2013 on: May 02, 2013, 04:22:32 AM
Holy crap, talk about an epic scam!

For those of you unaware: Micon is the ultimate failed poker player... His scammy little poker system also included the class act of wearing a WSOP bracelet so it looks like he actually can play poker... except it wasn't even his.  His poker system is so scammy that he had to fake a bracelet to give it any air of credibility.

Everything about Micon screams scam, I mean he even promised to bring the "Fuck you machine" on me for giving him a quarter to buy a clue after he was was trespassing at CES2013 and stomping around our booth shouting obscenities and being a general nuisance.  He returned the next day for more of the same and proceeded to rant on camera for 15 minutes about E-Cigarettes.

Class act all the way.

6  Economy / Service Discussion / MTGox is apparently out of money... on: January 22, 2013, 04:09:52 AM
So I initiated a $4000 MTGox Dwolla withdrawal over ten days ago... I sent in two support tickets and they finally got back to me tonight, here's what the response was.

Quote
Gene, Jan 22 13:06 (JST):

Hello Josh,

The transaction is still in process and the transaction has not been processed due to insufficient funds in our account. We will retry and update you once processed. We appreciate your patience.

Thanks,

MtGox.com Team

Huh... MTGox can't even afford a $4000 withdrawal after 10+ days.  This does not bode well.
7  Economy / Goods / [WTS] Samsung Galaxy S3 & HTC One S on: November 13, 2012, 07:54:35 PM
I have two basically brand new phones for sale.  Both are T-Mobile and can be unlocked.

The Galaxy S3 16GB is 2 weeks old, has a screen protector and a case (both applied after being taken out of the box, so phone is pristine).
The HTC One S 16GB is brand new, used for 2 days and put back in the box.

The Galaxy S3 16GB is 40 BTC shipped CONUS OBO
The HTC One S 16GB is 20 BTC shipped CONUS OBO

8  Other / Off-topic / BFL offers 1000 BTC back up on power claims on: October 19, 2012, 09:04:56 PM
Since Tom is refusing to actually make the bet he himself proposed between us, I am offering up a guarantee of 1000 BTC to charity (I will take suggestions on which charity to donate this to) if BFL does not meet it's power claims within 10% - meaning if BFL's power consumption is more than 66w for a Single SC, we lose the "bet."

Now, I ask if Tom is willing to step up and back the winning side.  He is 100% confident that we will not meet our power claims (which is the genesis of the failed bet), and as such I ask that he pony up 1000 BTC to the same charity if we do make our power claims.

So there it is:  Tom is confident that we won't make our power claims, I am confident that we will.  I am willing to put up 1000 BTC to show my confidence in BFL products.  Is Tom confident enough to do the same or is he just blowing hot air?

9  Economy / Goods / WTB: Pet Esthe on: August 26, 2012, 10:16:38 PM
I am unable to get a product called Pet Esthe here in the US.  I would like someone who has access to it to buy it for me and ship it and I will pay you in BTC.

There are a few shops that sell it around the world, mostly in the Asia area, but some in Australia/New Zealand I think, and also one in the UK.

Here are some of the shops that sell it:  http://www.petesthe.com/en/shops_en.html

If you are willing to get me some, let me know what the price is at your local area and such.  I would like to get it ASAP.

10  Economy / Computer hardware / [FS] 5970 (New/RMA), 6990, 5870's, 7870, 6870 on: July 25, 2012, 06:07:32 PM
I have a few video cards for sale:

1 "new" 5970 (Diamond), fresh back from RMA.  Never used.
1 Gigabyte 7870, New, never used
1 Gigabyte 6870, used less than a month
1 Gigabyte 5870 coming back from RMA (Will probably be ~2 weeks, but will be RMA "new")
1 Gigabyte 5870, still under warranty for another 1 year+, used ~2 months
1 XFX 6990 used ~ 1.5 months.  Warranty transferable to new owner.

A few 5850's and I think maybe a 5830 hanging out somewhere.

Make an offer on any/all/lot.  I'm not desperate to sell, so low balls won't be considered.  The Gigabytes all have more than a years worth of warranty if not 2+, and the Gigabyte warranties all follow the card not the owner, so the warranties are fairly valuable.
11  Other / Off-topic / Swiftkey. Oh, the new Eliza or best comedian ever? on: June 27, 2012, 08:26:29 PM
So those of you familiar with Swiftkey will understand, those that aren't, it's time to meet your new overlord.  New virtual keyboard are probably going to start to use the technology behind Swiftkey in the future.

But anyway, I wanted to know how Swiftkey thought of me, so I asked it by pressing space several times, letting it create a conversation it thinks I would make:

Quote
I am sorry what is prognosis. I am going to use it on you.

I don't know what Swiftkey thinks I am, but I don't know what I've done to piss Siwftkey off.  I don't recall ever entering either sentence in recent memory.  Oh Swiftkey, why do you hate me?

12  Other / Off-topic / Wondering where your BFL Singles are? on: June 27, 2012, 05:01:54 PM
Here they are, being prepped to ship:

I stopped by the BFL offices the other day and wow, they've expanded a ton since I stopped in a few weeks ago.  I met a number of new hires as well, so it looks like they are gearing up for faster production.  The Minirig assembly line was full of Minirigs.  I was able to take the above picture of one of the areas they are assembling the singles... I tried to slip a few in my pockets, but my pockets were not big enough, sadly.

I may try again and wear some cargo shorts.  I think maybe I could fit a six pack of Jalapenos in some parachute pants, too.

13  Economy / Currency exchange / WTB: Dwolla for BTC on: June 27, 2012, 03:15:40 PM
I need to buy some DWolla USD for BTC.  Anyone up for a quick sale?
14  Economy / Securities / [GLBSE] BFLS.RIG - BFL Hardware mining & Sales on: June 25, 2012, 08:16:29 PM
BFLS and BFLS.RIG are now closed permanently.

I am opening a new offering, basically mirroring the BFLS product.  It is for the MiniRigs & SC ASIC offering.

IPO will begin tomorrow:

6058 shares will be allocated and sold per Minirig, initially 2 rigs worth of shares will be allocated, and 6058 shares can be traded in for the physical Minirig hardware. 15% of the shares will be kept for maintenance and operation costs.

Once the details of the ASIC unit orders are publicly available, available shares will double and be put up for sale. At that point, it will require 6058 x 2 = 12116 shares to convert your BFLS.RIG shares into the physical hardware (Mini-Rig or SC).

Dividends on RIG will be paid out the same way BFLS is currently paid, on a weekly basis and the amount will be what the unit(s) generate that week. Obviously, no dividends on RIG will be paid until the hardware is in actual operation.

RIG shares purchased are for a share of the unit, not to help fund the purchase of a unit, since the units have already been paid for. Funds will be reinvested into further ASIC orders, which means the ASIC units will be "pre-purchased" already, and you will be buying into already purchased ASIC units with your BFLS.RIG shares, not funding the purchase of ASIC units. This is an important distinction, since it means you'll start generating revenue much faster than a unit you would be "funding" the purchase of.

Should mining become unprofitable or other circumstances cause the operator to be unable or unwilling to perform his duties, sale of all hardware and equal distribution of funds will commence according to the number of shares held by each individual.  Additionally, should a BFL Single be unavailable for immediate shipping, the operator reserves the right to refuse the 200 BFLS shares until such time as a unit becomes available.

Ticker symbol is BFLS.RIG
15  Economy / Goods / WTB: Amazon GC / Credit on: June 10, 2012, 11:31:46 PM
I'm looking to buy some Amazon credit / gift cards for less than face value.  I will only deal with established members with good reputation.  Let me know what you have and how much you want for them.

16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Security consensus question on: June 08, 2012, 06:36:25 PM
As many of you know, EMC was (is?) the first pool to offer both Yubikey and Google Authenticator as a 2FA authentication method.  As such, I've had a fair share of lost GA accounts (Yubikey not so much, guess it's harder to lose a physical object, as opposed to having to wipe your phone).

Up until now, I have manually handled the cases individually.  However, with 2FA, the whole point is to prevent someone from being able to access your account even if they have one of the factors.  Allowing resets of the 2nd factor defeat or at least mitigate a large portion of this advantage.

So, my question is, what is the general consensus on how to handle failed/lost/broken 2FA as specifically related to the semi-anonymous nature of a Bitcoin pool?  I have neither the resources nor desire to call up people individually and figure out if they are who they say they are, nor do I want to require identifying information be sent to me, since it's suppose to be as anonymous as possible.  So what is a good compromise in a situation like this?

I'm open to all ideas, even if they are silly.

17  Economy / Trading Discussion / MT.Gox caught lying again on: June 06, 2012, 03:50:25 AM
So, I tried to get the rest of my money out of MTGOX since my last thread on the subject. I did this in two withdrawals of $3000 and $10,000.  I was assured at the time it would take 6 business days.  Well, 6 business days came and went two times over, and no money.  So I sent another support ticket to see what kind of lies and bullshit they would feed me this time, and it was a real gem:

First, I asked (nay, demanded) that they cancel the Dwolla deposits, since they clearly have no intention of honoring them, but gave them the option of sending me the funds either via wire or courier (at their expense).  I reiterated this several times over and here is the response I got:

Quote
We see that your 3,000 USD withdrawal has been processed and should now be in your account. As for your 10,000 USD withdrawal, please be advised that withdrawals over 10,000 USD take at least 2 weeks to complete. Thank you for your patience in the process.

Of course, the $3000 credited only AFTER I had sent the message to support.  I'm sure it would have never credited if I never sent a message to support.

So I responded with this:

Quote
A) It's been more than two weeks
B) It's not over $10,000, so it doesn't apply.

You apparently failed to read the paragraph I asked you to re-read until you understood it. Please read it again.

I expect a certified check or courier tomorrow, June 6th. I am tired of the lying.

Once again, pointing out that it's been over two weeks AND it was not over $10,000.

Ooops! MTGox, caught in another lie, so here's the back pedal:

Quote
Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that as we are not located in the US, we are unable to send funds via courier. The 2 weeks + interval applies to withdrawals of at least 10,000 USD and over that amount. Thank you for your patience in the process.

So now it's "$10,000 and over" ... of course, there was no mention of this at the time of withdrawal or during my previous conversation with support over the botched withdrawal last time.  Of course, no mention of the fact that it's been over two weeks anyway, so even if there was some arbitrary $10,000 limit, the timeframe has expired.

I'm sure I'll get some bullshit response to my follow up messages pointing out the fact that it's been more than two weeks and that there is no mention of some arbitrary limit.

This is why you should not use MTGox.  They are lying, they continue to lie and have absolutely no regard for customer service.  They remind me very much of some of the shadier customer service centers from the late 90's and early 2000's where the mantra was "Tell the customer anything to get them off the line." It doesn't matter if it's true or not, just tell them whatever so they shut up and we can continue to rob them.

MTGox is exceptionally dishonest and untrustworthy in the extreme.  Anyone doing business with them is eventually going to wind up burned (again).  I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of convenient security breach or hack that somehow manages to drain user accounts when there's a major problem or the insolvency of Gox actually starts things crashing down.  All the signs are there, the secretiveness, the lies and stall tactics, etc... all major indicators of internal problems that they do not want the public to know.  Just take it as a warning.

18  Other / Off-topic / Just walkin' along... on: June 01, 2012, 12:30:07 AM
So I'm out, just taking a stroll down the road, and what did I find in my path?

Yeah... so I went to BFL and asked them about it.  Seems there were some cylons...err I mean RigBox parts everywhere.  The renders don't exactly convey what a beast the rigbox really is.
19  Economy / Computer hardware / WTS: 5870's, 6990, 5850's on: May 30, 2012, 04:16:12 PM
The guy that was interested in the package deal on these cards has not gotten back to me, so I'm posting them here.  I'd like to sell as a bundle, but I will sell individually:

6x 5870 Gigabyte Stock
2x 5870 Visiontek
3x 5870 XFX with ghetto HSF
2x 5870 XFX (?) stock
2x 5870 Gigabyte Stock or possibly SOC, but in either case, they are running SOC BIOS @ 950
1x 5850 AMD branded
1x 6990 XFX with water block

2x 6990 XFX with waterblock (These are my daily drivers, so I may hang on to them)

Out for RMA:

1x Gigabyte SOC - Waiting on RMA return
1x Diamond 5970 - Expected return - soon?

Likely not for sale, but possibly:

1x Visiontek 6970
1x 5970 with Arctic Cooling HSF + VRM cooler

Make an offer.  My basement is getting really hot and I need to make room in the DC for more BFL hardware.
20  Economy / Goods / WTS: Rooted Nook Color on: May 25, 2012, 08:38:54 PM
I am selling a rooted Nook Color.  Has stock Android on it and works great as both an e-reader and a mini tablet.  Bluetooth has been activated and works.  Comes with screen protector, cable and charging adapter.

Looking to get 24 BTC shipped OBO
