22  Economy / Web Wallets / Blockchain question on: April 10, 2017, 02:22:33 PM
It appears like this transaction is showing BTC going to 12c27RGLUYMFPYtNSTTpr56CfY2sX32Toe
https://blockchain.info/tx/2cc24783de6fd5623c769515d42c7dcadd9f6658ba27837a589196d4df52ccce

But that address shows no balance or transactions
https://blockchain.info/address/12c27RGLUYMFPYtNSTTpr56CfY2sX32Toe

When showing "scripts and coinbase" on the transaction it reveals a different address, 33J32xkn2SfdUiaoZZ8RGhT8p4Kb5xAeUD, which seems to have the BTC. There are some other transactions that do the same, I'm just curious why?

24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Do Bitcoin enthusiasts use IRC? and why? on: July 10, 2014, 06:48:18 PM
I used to be involved with IRC a very long time ago for many years and even ran a hosting company that offered primarily BNC & IRCd accounts. It did well for a while but I ended up shutting it down because business slowed and I really thought IRC would be dying off with the popularity of forums, online chats, facebook, etc.  By the time I said goodbye to IRC, it was pretty much just a lot of botnets, illegal operations & script kiddies. However, I have frequently seen people posting conversations from IRC here and posting screenshots of IRC chats.

So, I guess my question is:  Do the 'real' conversations amongst bitcoin enthusiasts happen on IRC and this forum is just a mouthpiece or PR forum for the "mainstream bitcoin users".  If so, what network does everyone use - or should I assume freenode?

26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / if (Dorian == Satoshi) { on: March 07, 2014, 04:51:37 PM
Hypothetical question:
If we had a signed message from 'Satoshi' right now stating that Dorian is in fact the real Satoshi, and we had Dorian start stating to reporters that he is Satoshi... how would bitcoin be affected?  Would you anticipate a drop in price, increase?   Would people be inspired by Dorian or disappointed?

I think I would be inspired, and I think bitcoin would probably suffer a drop with a somewhat quick rebound to over $800+

I know a lot of people on this forum may think I am crazy, if they don't already, but I still am about 65/35 divided on whether Dorian is the real Satoshi... 65% that he is.

It seems pretty impressive how closely the characters seem to match up... and the odds of having the same name, becoming unemployed around 2000.  The extreme fear of government agencies. According to his kid(s), the man used to play a game to get them to hide in the closet when government agencies were coming to get them... this sounds like a man who would disappear from a project like Bitcoin at the mere mention of a meeting with the CIA. And also sounds like a man who would profusely deny any involvement with bitcoin if he were ever outed.

The only thing that is holding that 35% of uncertainty is the *need* for newsweek to have a good story... and I feel like they (and the reporter) would do anything to get this story right now. And the fact that a person who wanted to remain anonymous would have just used his real name on these forums and everywhere else, this is what really makes no sense to me...

But then again, he apparently would have been going by 'Dorian' since he was 24... so maybe he thought it was anonymous enough to just use 'Satoshi' instead of 'Dorian'?

Any thoughts??

EDIT: Fixed spelling/grammar for "Remember remember the 5th of November"

29  Economy / Computer hardware / [SOLD] 2 assembled K16 miners /32 Avalon ASIC chips / steamboat groupbuy batch 5 on: August 03, 2013, 10:41:56 PM
[SOLD]

Reference thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192916.0

Offering to sell Order #100000148 from Steamboat / Liquidsyndesigns.com
32 chips with full assembly (2 x K16 Klondike miners fully assembled & tested). Chip purchase is one of the first from batch #5  (barely missed batch 4)

I have 2 orders under one account, and will be keeping one of my orders from batch 2 - I am open to ideas on how to get the K16's to the buyer, but cannot hand over the entire account because of the 2nd order I am keeping. I have contacted steamboat in the hopes of being able to modify the shipping address of the batch 5 order to the buyer, but I cannot guarantee he will be able to do this.

I am willing to receive the K16's and immediately ship the 2 K16's to the buyer as soon as I receive them (will be shipped from the US). We can discuss any shipping charges, depending on the speed you want the shipment and your location.

What your getting:
-Two (2) assembled & tested K16 Klondike miners, each miner has 16 chips (total of 32) from Steamboat's batch #5

Current asking price for both: 6.36BTC

(I am willing to sell only one for 3.18BTC, I would prefer to sell both to one buyer but I will keep the 2nd one if anyone only wants 1 unit)

Reason for selling: I need BTC for another project.

If interested, PM - Thank you!
30  Other / Off-topic / Song for Yifu? on: July 31, 2013, 01:17:50 PM
So as I was driving this morning - this song popped on the radio, my 'gaydar' jumped and I nearly switched stations, then as I heard the few first lyrics... I thought - I wonder if Yifu feels like everyone is singing him this song... I am little less straight for listening to it - but its all good.  Grin

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you

Oh can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Since you've gone I've been lost without a trace
I dream at night, I can only see your face
I look around but it's you I can't replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep calling baby, baby please...

Oh can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you

Every move you make
Every step you take
I'll be watching you
I'll be watching you

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take (I'll be watching you)
31  Other / Beginners & Help / Wait for ASIC?... or build new GPU/FPGA rigs? on: March 11, 2013, 08:05:39 PM
I have access to a good amount of technology-related equipment, including plenty of video cards/processors/and full systems... and have pretty good buying power with some of the bigger vendors out there selling equipment like this, and plenty of knowledge on building computers, and could easily setup additional 'rigs'. I currently have a group of machines generating a good amount of hashpower (between 3000-5000MH/s, depending on how many machines I have mining at once) and cheap power... but curious as to whether its even worth trying to upgrade or add to this right now or if I should hang around with what I have and wait for an ASIC device and invest there. Probably a million dollar question, but thought I would ask anyway to get some insight... struggling with which way to go right now, don't really want to invest funds in gpu/fpga devices knowing the hashpower they generate is going to be wiped out by ASIC devices. Any thoughts/recommendations for a newbie?    Undecided
