Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Blockchain explorer reads from a chain not from external database
|
on: June 28, 2019, 05:42:00 AM
|
I have done a lot of research but 100% of open source blockexplorers I found use external database to store blockchain information. There are few so-called "crawlers" but they are all too old and just for a few simple calls. What I made at the end is Bitcoin RPC compatible blockchain explorer written in GoLang which reads blocks and tx data directly from the chain and use external database just for some collected or calculated data which can not be pulled directly from a chain, as are addresses data, rich list, etc.. My point was, why should I use an external database when there is one already, a chain. Please just don't tell me MySQL or MongoDB is so much faster that is mandatory to use them. After I did a lot of tests I found my way was enough fast and with the usage of some cache I got really good results, even it runs from a local FreeBSD machine connected with ADSL 10/1Mbits I was getting so fast results from distant locations that I was amazed. Starting point whit which I was confused was the number of confirmations of a single block which rises when a new block appears on the network. So, or it is needed to be read again from a chain or needs to have some script to update that number in a database. That is how I end up with this "direct from blockchain" technic. Please share some thoughts on this if you know some particular reasons why should be external database based or do you find my way better to do. Thank you all in advance.

WEB SITEWhat is Parallelcoin?Parallelcoin is an new digital currency that enables instant payments to anyone, anywhere in the world. Parallelcoin uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority: managing transactions and issuing money are carried out collectively by the network. Parallelcoin is also the name of the open source software which enables the use of this currency. ParallelCoin specificationsMulti-algo proof of work crypto currency. Fair release with no premine, no IPO and no ICO. Algorithms: SHA256D & SCRYPT Abbreviation: DUO Total Coins: 1,000,000 Block Reward: Blocks 1-998 = 0.02 DUO (Fair Release) | Blocks > 998 = 2 DUO Block Time: 5 minutes Halving Interval: 250,000 blocks P2P Port: 11047 (21047 Testnet) RPC Port: 11048 (21048 Testnet) DownloadsPlease note: The old Parallelcoin wallet-qt (v1.0.0.0) does still work. The new Parallelcoin wallet-qt (v1.2.0.0) was done to change the main overview page back to normal qt-view. If your wallet does not want to start syncing:Try adding these nodes to your configuration (parallelcoin.conf file located in the wallet folder): addnode=185.69.55.35:11047 addnode=46.28.107.182:11047 addnode=91.206.16.214:11047 addnode=157.161.128.62:11047 addnode=85.15.179.171:11047 addnode=103.254.148.9:11047 addnode=144.217.73.92:11047 addnode=165.227.110.22:11047 addnode=194.135.88.119:11047 addnode=73.164.170.207:11047 addnode=76.176.77.120:11047 addnode=89.40.12.55:11047 addnode=coins.prohashing.com:6245
ResourcesTakeover infoThere are a few of us which like the idea of this coin very much. We (the community) think that the coin has a big potential and is worth to continue. There is no premine and the multi-algo sha256d and scrypt was and is trendsetting. So the time is right for a restart. The original developer, Parallaxis (probably Blazr2) was last active on 19th of August 2014 on Bitcointalk. Over the last year we tried to get in contact, but there has neven been a reply on all our messages. So we kept supporting Parallelcoin over all the months and finally the time has come for a community takeover. We created a new Parallelcoin website, block explorer, nodes, a Parallelcoin sha256d pool and achieved that DUO is available for trading on Cryptopia coin exchange. You can be part of this community. Start to mine Parallelcoin and spread the word. If you have further ideas that could help and support the coin (new exchanges, new pools, whatever else), do not hesitate to post your ideas to this new thread. OLD THREADMarketingTwitter and signature campaign soon!

Other / Meta / Alternate cryptocurrencies > Announcements (Shitcoins)
|
on: June 04, 2015, 02:23:42 PM
|
I have an idea. Why don't moderators make section Alternate cryptocurrencies > Announcements (Shitcoins) It is more than obvious when some "dev" make OP for some new coin is it shit or not.
What makes some coin shit? Lack of info, poor design, no roadmap, newbie profile, dev not posting in topic etc...
So when some coin proved to be shit just move its topic there.
I know this idea looks quite unserious, but in see of shitcoin people can not see true values and the point of this technology and only thing is someone is trying to take money someone else by not doing a thing beside alter some coin's code, release it as new coin, ask for ICO or some other scammers technique, and than vanish with stupid people's money.
Also I know Alternate cryptocurrencies > Announcements (Shitcoins) will never happen but those are my thoughts.

A full node is a program that fully validates transactions and blocks. Almost all full nodes also help the network by accepting transactions and blocks from other full nodes, validating those transactions and blocks, and then relaying them to further full nodes. Most full nodes also serve lightweight clients by allowing them to transmit their transactions to the network and by notifying them when a transaction affects their wallet. If not enough nodes perform this function, clients won’t be able to connect through the peer-to-peer network—they’ll have to use centralized services instead. Many people and organizations volunteer to run full nodes using spare computing and bandwidth resources—but more volunteers are needed to allow Bitcoin to continue to grow. This document describes how you can help and what helping will cost you. ░▒░▒▓ ◈◈ 99 shares - $1 per share ◈◈ ▓▒░▒░ NODE SPECIFICATIONS: Period: 1 year Dedicated IP: 1 CPU: 2 x 2.40 GHz RAM: 2048 MB Storage: 80 GB Bandwidth: 2 TB Spread the word: Crowd funding is not limited to one node. After we collect funds for one node we will start another funding for second node and so on.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BTC no more real p2p ?
|
on: June 21, 2013, 01:54:56 PM
|
As I see year from now there will be no miners with small power, not counting GPU miners, that is already almost dead for mining btc, but small power that will be 100GH/s per miner next year, because as it looks like there will be just few big asic farms that will hold the bitcoin network, because network will rise so much that for all small miners will be not rentable. So my conclusion is that btc is loosing peer to peer system, if all ends on 10 peers we will again have system that is in hands of few. Ok shares of many people in that hashing power but all infrastructure will be centralized, power will not be in peoples hands if you understand me. Am I wrong or this is next level of evolution of bitcoin?
