1  Economy / Economics / Agents of Chaos- HBO Series on: May 02, 2024, 06:00:21 PM
If you haven't yet seen Agents of Chaos, a HBO documentary that details some crazy stuff about Russia and how they use these "agents of chaos" to interfere in elections, and essentially try and change/impact (in a negative manner) countries economies, namely the United States.  It's flat out proof and quite mind blowing to be honest.

I HIGHLY recommend you check it out.  Here's a link to the Website- https://www.hbo.com/agents-of-chaos

This type of stuff can have major impacts on the global economy.

Have you seen it yet, what do you think?
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / The first online cryptocurrency Casinos, when/who? on: May 01, 2024, 03:59:23 PM
Right out of college is when I started to really take gambling more seriously.  Well maybe not "seriously" but I started to care more and play more. A close friend I went to school with whom had just finished up law-school wanted to make some extra money and started acting as a bookie.  It was great for a while, but he ended up closing down ship "too much work/stress".  I had only ever really used Bovada (formerly Bodog) and I knew that when you won, you would receive some shady looking check in the main (IF you ever got it) and it took weeks to months to get to you.

When I found out bitcoin was now available on many online casinos, especially Bovada, the one I had been using for some time, I was THRILLED.  Total game changer.

That said, does anyone know when they first came about?  What year?  Who was first?  Etc...
3  Economy / Collectibles / MJB Monetary Metals coins to skyrocket in value? Help needed on: April 24, 2024, 06:55:20 PM
I've shared a few posts over the years to try and educate best practices.  Things like, most having no clue how to redeem a physical btc.  This instructional video may be the best one to date.. https://youtu.be/gjJZbrzBiR0?si=8rLVhBzFBf0rDp73

Not sure if I ever shared this one, but here's the worlds smartest human giving his assessment on our hobby- https://youtu.be/ImKO3_eITsA?si=He1YLA0MQVAx7eZz

BUT, this one...

I need some help translating ( is this Russian/ Croatian ?? ). I've got a lot of these coins and think I'm booking a flight out east asap..  You likely need an Insta account to view.  There is also an 18+ rating (at least here in Murica).  I wouldn't say it's NSFW, but prob shouldn't play out loud if this is in your native language lol.  I screen recorded the video and tried to upload to Imgur, but it wouldn't work. Not sure what other programs might.  If you've got an insta account though, you're good- https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3vQosmMXlE/?igsh=MWg4Yzk2enVuNDlwNw==
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / "Jontay Porter receives lifetime ban from NBA for violating gambling rules" on: April 18, 2024, 06:21:54 PM
I've seen this story being mentioned in the NBA threads, but wanted to post about it separately as this is one of the craziest gambling stories I've ever heard of.  I'm not sure if any active pro sports player, at least here in the United States, has ever been permanently banned from their sport while the season is going on like this.  Do you guys think the punishment fits the crime? He broke all sorts of ethical rules and I believe he deserves the punishment he got.

Thoughts in general?

"A league investigation found that Porter violated league rules by disclosing confidential information to sports bettors, limiting his own participation in one or more games for betting purposes, and betting on NBA games," the statement read".

"The NBA also found that prior to the game, Porter disclosed confidential information about his health status to "an individual he knew to be an NBA bettor." A different individual associated with Porter also bet that Porter would underperform March 20 as part of an $80,000 parlay the bettor placed with an online sports book".

5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / MOVED: Bitcoin Testnet and it's Functionality on: March 30, 2024, 01:07:53 AM

6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Bitcoin Testnet and it's Functionality on: March 30, 2024, 01:05:47 AM
I recently acquired some bitcoin testnet coins thanks to Cyrus (as seen in photo below).  I have always been fascinated by the Testnet but have never really gotten a good explanation of what it can and cannot do.

I've heard some say the testnet is just like using the real things.  However if that were the case, wouldn't the debate for larger blocks and what to change or implement, not really be a debate since you'd be able to test everything out to find out for sure?  Would lead me to believe that it's helpful but not really just like the actual blockchain.

I know this is rudimentary for a lot of you, but it's something I've really wanted to gain a little more insight in to, and as mentioned, I just get conflicting info whenever I ask people about it.

(Not sure if this is the correct board or not, if not my apologies mods)

7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Shohei Ohtani Gambling Saga on: March 26, 2024, 09:28:32 PM
I was just curious about if anyone of you guys have been following this Shohei Ohtani gambling saga/controversy going on right now?  This is a HUGE deal in the world of sports, and of course specifically in Major League Baseball.  If you aren't familiar with who Shohei Ohtani is, he's a Japanese born MEGA star in major league baseball.  He's both a pitcher and someone who hits, which in the world of baseball is VERY rare.  No since the legendary Babe Ruth have we've seen such a player who's so great at doing both.  He's become the face of baseball which is what makes all of this all the more crazy.

I wanted to get everyone's thoughts.

8  Economy / Reputation / Most technically knowledgeable forum users .. on: February 28, 2024, 06:35:06 AM
I’ve been around for what’s getting close to 10 years now but I still don’t know which forum users are considered the most knowledgeable in terms of cryptographic expertise/programming experts etc..basically the Mr Robot types.

I’ve always wanted to know but wasn’t really sure how to find out so figure maybe this thread could help shine light on those users. Now I know GMaxwell is probably the pinnacle of such members (we are very lucky to have him here) Loyce (tho he’s AI so not sure they count), suchmoon, satoshighost, Rusbitcoin nullius, tryninja, o_e_l_e_o 💔, Nutildah, DdmrDdmr, theymos (obviously), pooya87, I believe (though we may not see eye to eye on certain topics of late, I respect them nonetheless ) etc etc.

Is the most merited list a good indicator of this? Reason I bring this up ..Yogg. He was my go to (outside of bugging Loyce from time to time)..Yogg would let me sit on the phone for hours pestering him with tech questions with no judgement and it really sucks to have lost that friendship/teacher. So it would be nice to know which members I can trust or at least know they’ve got a strong understanding of cryptography/programming knowledge that way I can learn from them without having doubts of them just “blowing smoke”.

The names I’ve listed are just some I believe fit in this category. Maybe I’m wrong on some of them too Huh

For years I’ve always thought it would be great to be able to recognize three types somehow: I know Theymos (though maybe it was Sirius) assigned special badges to some of the OGs that fit this sorts criteria (like Hal I believe has one, and know there’s others).

I think I recently had a back and forth with one of these types, not realizing I was talking with a high skill level user, and feel like a moron because while I have a strong background in finance and basic cryptocurrency knowledge, it’s at a script kiddie level no question. Maybe some list like this already exists ? If anyone with knowledge of these types wouldn’t mind sharing or “recognizing” them, it’d be greatly appreciated!

(Cyrus-hope this is okay to post and in the right section).
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / STOP telling people how much Bitcoin you have on: February 13, 2024, 05:25:44 PM
I just wanted to share a piece of advice that I learned early on from Andreas Antonopoulos (if you don't know whom this is, I highly recommend looking up his YouTube page and watching his videos and or reading his book Mastering Bitcoin) never tell anyone how much bitcoin you have.  Andreas use to say it's not our job to teach everyone we know about bitcoin, letting them know we own some "Let that be my job" he would say.

I see so many people that come around here sharing how much bitcoin they own...don't.  Just like any of your finances such as your portfolio or how much your annual salary is..it's no one's business but your own.  Being transparent about these things can be harmful to you in a multitude of ways.  As an advisor this is something I tell my clients all the time.  Your financial info is private and should always remain that way.  I hate these new social media trends where people walk up to strangers on the street and ask things like "how much do you pay in rent" or "how much money do you make a year"...ignore them!
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Provably Fair- How Can You Know? on: February 06, 2024, 04:15:30 PM
So I've been playing a little bit of roulette on a couple different gambling sites online.  I've been throwing a few satoshis on playing Poker (Texas Hold'Em) here and there as well.  Mainly focusing on Roulette, how can I be sure that the site is provably fair? I've heard this term used before by gambling buddies on here, but I've near really learned how you can know or find out if a sites games are "provably fair"?

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Does Bitcoin still fork and do exchanges still keep the forks? on: February 02, 2024, 11:32:07 PM
I was around for the first fork, the one true bitcoin (kidding), and then there were a ton of others (really thought bitcoin pizza was going to take off  Cheesy ).. but what I don't know and can't seem to find is if it's still forking a bunch like it use to?  Also, if it is or did again, lets say you kept your coins on say Coinbase exchange (like a fool)..would they keep them like they use to?

Thx!

14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Jamie Dimon-JP Morgan CEO "Satoshi will come back and erase bitcoin" on: January 28, 2024, 07:55:34 PM
"“I think there’s a good chance that … when we get to that 21 million Bitcoins, [Satoshi Nakamato] is going to come on there, laugh hysterically, go quiet, and all Bitcoin is going to be erased.” - https://cryptoslate.com/jpms-jamie-dimon-believes-satoshi-nakamoto-will-either-increase-or-erase-bitcoin-supply/

Watch - https://youtu.be/eneB3s9bCdI?si=GWdEagybtmQ2lUur

Clearly this scumbag ( with 40 BILLION dollars in fraud violations since the year 2000 https://violationtracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/jpmorgan-chase ) has either no clue how bitcoin works or is just simply spreading straight FUD.

Satoshi no longer has access to being a core dev, and it's written in to the blockchain that 21 million is the supply cap.  I hate this man with a passion, and trust me I know hate is a very strong word.
15  Economy / Collectibles / [Pending sale] WTS - 2013 Casascius S3 .5BTC (funded) Fine Silver Coin on: January 21, 2024, 10:20:59 AM
Edit : Sale is now pending and no longer accepting offers.

Looking to sell - 2013 S3 Casascius Fine Silver .5BTC coin (funded).  Slabbed and graded 67 by ANACS.

https://casascius.uberbills.com/?address=1AgdKrAhD9sh1GAjfk66kkNDFTBJ1Nc6A9

(Note: the slab is a bit scratched in a few places. I will try and clean it and post more photos soon)

Opening up to offers atm. I would prefer to fly and meet the buyer anywhere agreed upon in the US. I’ve got flier miles I’m wanting to burn and for a coin of this value I’d just prefer to not mail it if possible. Depending whether I know you or not, your trust score, how long you’ve been on the forum etc, some sort of escrow will likely be required for both our safety.

Some semi recent sales of similar coins :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5468069.0

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5437215.0 (Series 2 ..so more rare/valuable)

Will look for more sales soon/check the auction houses.

Lastly - I will not discuss sale outside this forum.  If we converse via DMs, make sure it’s me /my account you’re conversing with. Thanks to scammers who are constantly reading all these threads we have to be careful.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Claiming ETH Token from Trezor wallet on: January 13, 2024, 05:57:47 PM
Upon opening up my Trezor wallet today I noticed that with my ETH it says there's a token to claim.  Has anyone seen this before? Is this legitimate? Any help/feedback is much appreciated!

17  Economy / Collectibles / Bitcoin Penny Company Issues- Undelivered work/Money owed/Lack of updates on: January 05, 2024, 02:01:30 AM
It really pains me to have to write this one.  I felt (as others) that it has become time to share issues people/customers are having with Bitcoin Penny https://bitcoinpenny.com/ .

There are a multitude of people whom are waiting on both refunds from cancelled orders as well as pre-sale orders that were placed quite some time ago.  I also know of one prominent forum member who's owed 1 BTC from BPenny/Chris as well and has for some time.

ToTheMoonSands has had a multitude of issues in regards to BPenny and receiving funds back as part of a PayPal buyer protection/failed to deliver case, where PayPal has tried a multitude of times to recover funds for TotheMooonSands.  Seller (Chris/BPenny)both  didn't have available funds in the account as well as apparently proactively blocked payment twice from being paid out when PayPal ruled in his favor for the open case.

As of 11/25/23, I am owed a refund of $2610.00 from The Bitcoin Penny Company. Refund via PayPal failed/was cancelled. Please follow more information here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5456990.msg63217329#msg63217329

Bitcoin Penny has somewhat addressed these issues, but it seems he no longer is, as well as there just being so many different issues with Bitcoin Penny now that I felt it important that people are aware of this, especially for new buyers as his sales are clearly still live.  Plus a thread will be easy to find by a google search for non-forum members who may also be dealing with these same issues.  Also, there's several threads going around about this topic, so it is of course better to comb it down to just one.

Threads where this has been discussed :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5461962.20
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5461962.20

I encourage anyone effected by this situation to share any info you can. I will continue to update this as well with more precise information about individual cases.

18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Bet on favorites early in the week & underdogs late in the week strategy... on: January 04, 2024, 09:29:08 PM
I am by no means a professional gambler, and therefore I've certainly got plenty to learn (one of the reasons I like being active in this part of the forum).  I was recently listening to a gambling talk radio podcast and they were saying one basic rule of thumb to live by when sports betting is to bet favorites in the early part of the week and under-dogs in the later part of the week as the spread tends to favor this strategy.

So I'm just curious if the sports betters in here take this "rule of thumb" strategy seriously and tend to follow it.  Or if there's any experience that says this may not be all that great of a strategy.  Thoughts?
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / 🏈 NCAA College Football Bowl Games /Playoffs/Championship on: December 30, 2023, 08:26:26 PM
Thought I'd start a gambling thread regarding the NCAA Bowl games that are currently going on as well as for the Playoffs that start Monday.

Some great bowl games that have been going on but of course the real excitement starts with Mondays playoffs include the University of Michigan versus Alabama and the second playoff game featuring University of Texas versus Washington.

Michigan -1.5  Alabama O/U at 45

Texas -3.5  Washington O/U at 63.5

Who are you guys picking??  I think an Alabama vs Texas game would be what most people want to see.  How about you?
