2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Would you rather have fair launch Ethereum or scam launched NXT? on: June 17, 2014, 06:28:10 PM
Please give reasons.

For me fairness in a launch is essential.

That is why I own BTC and LTC.

I don't like scams like Auroracoin, Ripple, NxT who inflate their market values through being illiquid?

Do you like scams?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Will Ethereum destroy NXT by simply having a FAIR launch? on: June 17, 2014, 06:22:00 PM
Ethereum is going to allow everyone to be able to participate, it will be well distributed for everyone without 50x profit instant for insiders.

Ethereum > NXT.

Can't wait to buy Ether along with all my BTC, LTC, DOGE nrothers who care about a fair launch and not just cutting people's hearts out and stealing their money like the NXT leader just stole $250,000.00 cash on a fake trade.  Now he is saying it is a hacker - but even if you believe that lie it means NXt is not secure.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / COINMARKETCAP please recalculate NXT marketcap to reflect liquidity like Ripple on: June 17, 2014, 06:13:29 PM
It was originally sold for 50x profit to whales, but at most should be $3,000,000.

Coins with market caps of $1,000,000 are trading more every day.

Something is wrong.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Las Vegas Strip Casino LUXOR to Accept Litecoin through ATMs on betting floor on: June 17, 2014, 06:09:34 PM
Quote
Dubbed as the world’s most advanced Bitcoin machine and vending platform, the Interwallet ATM-like kiosk is capable of selling and purchasing Bitcoin, along with other alternative cryptocurrencies like Litecoin.

Another Vegas hotel and casino will have a Bitcoin automated teller machine through the efforts of First Bitcoin Capital Corp., further boosting the integration of the digital currency and land-based locations for entertainment.

Luxor Hotel and Casino is the newest recipient of a Bitcoin ATM; but unlike its fellow establishments in Sin City, it will be featuring a machine manufactured by Interwallet, LLC instead.

Litecoin on Vegas strip for gambling.

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Litecoin makes reuters headlines with link in article to Litecointalk (dying?) on: June 17, 2014, 09:42:00 AM
Quote
WESTON-SUPER-MARE, UK, June 16, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - A new business launched this week, breaking into the physical digital currency market. Coinographic Ltd has just released its first physical representation of the digital currency, Litecoin, in the form of a Limited Edition, solid silver 25 LTC. What makes Coinographic (http://www.coinographic.com) different to other coin companies is that they only sell their coins in the currency they represent.

In a novel approach to coin design, Coinographic ran a competition for the coin design amongst the Litecoin community. The submitted designs were then voted on by the community, meaning that the Limited Edition coin already has a lot of fans. Since the competition closed Coinographic Ltd have been busy working with the designer finalising the details ready for production.

Litecoin is not going anywhere, as the only coin other than BTC to have hardware created to support itself, LTC cements #2 and business money knows it.

You will see going up to 2015 when halvening stops inflation.

They don't take NXT or DRK.  And they won't.

LTC can buy food, groceries, furnishings, pay for your dinner date, buy guns, buy clothes, buy jewelry, gold, silver, buy 4K HDTVs, buy computers, buy miners, just about anything you can think of.

https://www.egifter.com/
https://www.egifter.com/giftcards/

Only BTC and LTC can do this.

As long as LTC has this much utility it is not going anywhere.

Maybe I will order a Sporting Store gift card and get a glock pistol, or maybe I will buy a giftcard for a steak dinner, or maybe I will buy my movie tickets, or maybe I will buy my groceries from Whole Foods, or others may like Wal-Mart, then I'll buy books and a Kindle from Amazon, then I will buy a 4K HDTV 80" from Sony.

Then I will go to one of the car dealerships that accept LTC and buy a TESLA model S.

ALL WITH LITECOIN.

ONLY WITH LITECOIN OR BITCOIN.

[sarc]So yeah its totally pointless LOL.  LTC have no point or usage obviously!!!!  R
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / PPC is how you do PoS fairly, Sunny King should be applauded, NXT is a scam copy on: June 13, 2014, 07:33:57 PM
NXT is a poor scam compared to the coin it copied - PPC.

Why buy a scam that was 100% insta-mined?  Is that okay to give money to criminals behind NXT.  They should be imprisoned for fraud.

You can buy the original PPC that had a fair launch and the real innovation.

If you want the real thing - PPC.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / NXT, the ultimate SCAM, will it die because of 100% pre-mine given to 50 people? on: June 13, 2014, 03:34:49 PM
Lets remember history for a moment.

NXT was all mined, approximately 1,000,000,000 tokens, instantly.

They were then given to forum members deemed most influential or a friend of the developers, 50 people got ALL THE COINS instantly.

There is very little in liquidity, creating a false illusion of wealth, try to sell 500,000 NXT on cryptsy and see what happens to that price!  On the other hand you could sell that much of Litecoin and the market for Litecoin would NOT hiccup!

NXT should be rightfully called out as the biggest insta-mine scam in the history of alt-coins.  It is written in JAVA.  It was kept CLOSED SOURCE to hide major flaws and security issues.

They keep promising features that then do not appear and claim features that do not really work.  Have you tried to use their asset exchange?  Not really functioning.

Should be renamed SHT or SCM.  Smiley

--edit--

NXT says scamming is okay -

Fairness is one of the most important factors, if not THE most important factor, for the viability of any crypto coin.

Unfortunately, NXT got it wrong.

fairness is a fake concept which has no place in capitalism

if u dont know this then u are delusional.  there is no fair cryptocurrency, this is hyprocite talk

look at bitcon its the worst obviously. fairness is such a joke anyway. there is no such thing as fairness in this world

Thank you for admitting that NXT is a scam - see this is the mentality of NXT and people behind it.

People who made NXT believe and support scamming.

Fairness is what separates men from animals and the 1st world from the 3rd world.

Fairness and empathy are what make us human.

NXT is inhumane, as proven by the poster above by his support and admission that NXT is a scam, even defending NXT's right to scam you.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / DRK Coin is closed source? on: May 23, 2014, 01:39:43 AM
Can we be clear on whether Darksend is open source or closed source?

Closed source just screams honeypot trap.  Why would anyone trust closed source to be anonymous??

Seems to make the feature worthless because no one else can PROVE it is 100% automatically anonymous.  Without open source and peer-review its all just empty promises.
10  Other / Meta / PETITION: Delete the Alternative Crypto-Currency Forum (please). on: March 04, 2014, 07:20:44 PM
The ALT subforum no longer serves any purpose except for fraudsters hucksters and scammers to rip people off.

Make them build their own forums.  A HUGE disservice is being done by diverting people away from Bitcoin.

However my preference is to see the ALTS forum GONE.  This forum is BTCTALK.  If people want to market their scamcoin let them build a forum and attract people.  The sub is now a place of abuse and a hotbed of fraud, there is a huge danger new people will get sucked into a scam and turn their back on BTC, when we could have educated them about BTC instead.

Lets END the freeloading here for the scams and fraud.  I could maybe accept a Litecoin subforum just because they have devs that work on the BTC client, and help out.  However that should be up to the community, there is no reason we owe a space to these people trying to rip everyone off.  A year or two ago interesting technical discussions could be found there - now it is truly a SCAR on this website.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [YAC] YACoin - GPUminer - worth the price? on: May 13, 2013, 11:30:07 AM
Do you think the YACGPUminer they are selling on the onion "market" is worth the price?

Performance seems inconsistent from demo - obviously still much better than even a multiple-CPU farm.

Would appreciate feedback from those using it - how long has it taken to make back the BTC spent?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / **UNITE BEHIND LITECOIN** (Why?) on: May 12, 2013, 08:20:02 AM
The alt community should focus all its might on getting Litecoin going as a true BTC alternative, and I will share with you why.  Litecoin was gaining major ground against BTC when the flood of scamcoins happened.

I was speculating about recent shenanigans in general on IRC when I was messaged on IRC that from someone who would definitely know that some of the flood of altcoins is being done purposefully by BITCOIN-ONLY adherents in a Machiavellian attempt to discredit Litecoin...as Litecoin was getting close to MAJOR acceptance as *THE* BTC alternative - it was no coincidence that it was at that time the scams hit the alt community like a mack truck!

UNTIL - *one* alt gets widespread acceptance (and IMHO) Litecoin is the most fairly distributed, was the first scrypt based with some real advantages over BTC, and LTC has some real existing value, long term track record, and the ONLY CHANCE to break the BITCOIN MONOPOLY NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

I would urge the alt community to stop self-destructing!  Push Litecoin together, then later mess with another alt - or there will be NO ALTS.

Stop and *think* they are winning in getting any "altcoin" automatically seen as a scam!

Uniting behind Litecoin acceptance is a last hope at this point IMHO.  Certain people you may know of from the Wiki, here, and in the ASIC business who HATE Litecoin and have done everything to keep Litecoin out of the press and off of Wikipedia are trying to MAKE anything other than Bitcoin be perceived as "scam."  Much trickery and manipulation has been done to protect their BTC only investment MONOPOLY.

Certain BITCOINERS (ASIC Investors/producers/owners, DEVS, HOARDERS) are using Nelson Rockefeller/Nathan Rothschild type tactics to create a CRYPTO-CURRENCY MONOPOLY.  This is the worst possible outcome.

The shills will come to this thread and tell us why they love Feathers, and Royals, and CHN - its all to fracture the effort THAT WAS WORKING to make LTC BIG.

There are new fake accounts here to fracture and divide this community, there is HUGE pressure on GOX and other retailers, service providers etc to *NOT* accept LTC.

Divide and Conquer? Please Stop and Think...this community is being played like a fiddle, divided and broken, - unite behind LTC and win or else *everyone* loses.

THEY FEAR LITECOIN.  They have BIG money to protect, don't let them make you all their fools - I have never seen a community so well manipulated as this one has been since the LTC rise.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

They are fighting us, all out.  Can we put aside differences long enough to win?

Getting LTC widespread acceptance is the KEY to opening the door to other alts, and EVERYONE having a seat at the table - if we do not stop it now cryptocurrency will become a monopoly.

I am not much for soap boxing - but I felt this needed to be shared.  Do you want a market of cryptocurrencies or a single one?  Unless one is pushed into the public now the chance will be GONE.  Best.

---edit---

I have about 1000 LTC.  Not even worthy of mentioning.  I am not an early hoarder of either currency - however I care about the future of my money.  Personally I have more fiat value in the Bitcoins I have mined, than the Litecoins.

This is of interest to me because of the corporate takeover of BTC that is happening.

I predicted the Litecoin hate and here it comes pouring into this thread - I posted this because I truly believe that we need to establish a majorly accepted Bitcoin alternative NOW before it is too late.

This is deeply important if you care about what type of cryptocurrency future we have.

SAY NO TO A ONE CURRENCY MONOPOLY.

There is mega-corporate attention and takeover of crypto-currency underway, and they are focusing on Bitcoin to do it.  An alt (Litecoin IMHO) keeps this a democratized system where the people create money - not a central ASIC authority.

these people are not our friends -

BitInstant Introduces Bain Capital to Bitcoin – Charlie Shrem and Erik Voorhees represented BitInstant (and by extension Bitcoin itself) [to Bain Capital] at the Money 2020 conference in Las Vegas from October 22-24, which focused on emerging and innovative financial services. BitInstant managed to get a booth directly next to that of PayPal, and Charlie Shrem reports that the president of Bain Capital, a firm now famous for its connection to US presidential candidate Mitt Romney, had breakfast with him and Voorhees, and responded very positively to Bitcoin when the two introduced the currency and the Blockchain mobile Bitcoin client to him.  - !!!!!!!!! -

https://bitcoinfoundation.org/  - all of you have greed making you blind.

These self appointed corporate saviors do NOT speak for a lot of us.

Litecoin FIRST opens the way for more alts later and secures a future OWNED by the people that can STAY anonymous and free.
This is what is important to me - not personal profit motive.  The fact that all of the haters assume it is about personal profit shows that is WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO THEM!
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / the butthurt over alt success is stunning on: May 05, 2013, 09:58:48 AM
If you don't want to participate in alternate block chains, then just don't.  Stay in one of dozens of BTC only sub-forums.  People can do as they please with open source code, and the market decides.  Maybe you all want BTC taken over by Microsoft and a EULA developed?  Tongue

I am amazed to see the tears of those who can't stand that people have done financially well with LTC.

Especially the absolute anguish over FTC, CNC, and all other new sCrypt-alt success.  It seems with the monstrous hashpower directed at these two new coins they are guaranteed at least some small measure of success, and will be put on more exchanges as time passes.

I am happy for everyone who finds their success, and if you make money too, congratulations.  Smiley

I have rarely seen something from a historical quote so clearly in evidence as it is now amongst the alt haters:

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." - It seems some of you really are pretty deeply worried that these new coins will partially supplant BTC or you would not be acting this way.

It is like children who had the only toy and now are angry and jealous that someone made a new one, and they are no longer so special.

By all means keep laughing/fighting.....you only draw more attention to what you dislike....

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / We need a separate Litecoin sub-forum or move the LTC community on: April 19, 2013, 06:26:10 PM
This forum simply cannot contain everything.

LTC is big enough to deserve its own subforum - it is the only other coin to have approached, and is approaching again $100 million dollar USA total market capitalization.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a dedicated LTC forum?

Relevant threads can be moved there if necessary, if there is not a dedicated LTC sub forum.

Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Would prefer to break it into several block trades, for both our security.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Arise, Chikun, Arise... (MtGox just verified LTC within 2 weeks - with pics). on: April 12, 2013, 04:20:29 PM
arise, Chikun, Arise!

Read for yourself absolutely confirmed: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1c7ahh/we_are_mt_gox_ama/

Also it is time Litecoin has its own page on Wikipedia.  Lets overcome the alt-haters and get it up there.

Plenty of mainstream media Litecoin specific press is hitting - here is thread to the Wikipedia discussions on LTC - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=119540
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Lets Solve the unreliable 7970 issues.... (share your observations/input) on: April 11, 2013, 11:53:41 PM
I own a few 7970s, all made by Sapphire.

The generic version 7970s all do 700kH/s out of the box within 20mins of tuning - they LOVE big thread concurrency (.57 ratio, all that, works perfect!).

The 7970 "GHZ editions" do about 550kH/s out of the box with hours of tuning and no two are alike, they HATE big thread concurrency.  In fact I cannot even duplicate results across these "GHZ" cards as each one must be fine tuned by hand painfully to get it to 600kH/s.  One of them is maxed out at 1022c/1244m.  The next one will max out with completely different settings.

All the bad cards can ONLY work well with Intensity/Aggression of exactly 13, move it up and kH/s dives.

One thing I have noticed - MSI Afterburner ALWAYS "sees" the good 7970s as "MSI 7900 Series" on the top of the app.

MSI Afterburner sees the "bad" 7970s as "MSI 7900 Lightning"

So - There is a definable difference, and why is the premium card performing worse?  Is this a software issue?  Was there a revision made to the GHZ editions that is freaking out cgminer and reaper?

What is different about a card that Afterburner defines it as "7900 Series" vs. "7900 Lightning?"

Please share your 7970 experience - there is NO reason GHZ and premium editions should under perform stock standard versions - I and many others here judging from PMs I have gotten about this would love to see it solved once and for all.

My theory at this point is that there is a bug in reaper/cgminer as they just don't like the premium iterations of 7970s.  The reason I state this is I cannot duplicate results across multiple "bad" 7970s, but results are immediately duplicated on the "good" older models.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Guide to Building a Web Front End and associate a Pool? on: April 09, 2013, 11:08:30 PM
I have funds to set this up - anyone have web design expertise they are willing to share?  My partner is a network engineer (CCNA) so she knows some some about this - however we don't know much about the front end required on the web.

What I do see is a HUGE need for more reliable Litecoin Pools to chose from.  I can eat the costs of keeping the server up until people see we are legit and dependable, then it will eventually support itself.

Is there a guide to building the front end out there and automating payments etc.?
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Liecoin-Qt FEES have become adoption issue - is this being addressed? on: April 09, 2013, 08:21:48 AM
I see new adopters complaining on other major sites claiming they are getting asked for 20%-40% in fees by the client, when sending as little as 1 LTC. ($4.50 US dollars equivalent)

How is this confiscatory tax even possible?  When I first read the reports I thought it was a bug but many users are reporting it.

With the rise in value - this needs to be fixed ASAP if anyone wants Litecoin taken seriously.

That kind of FEE makes this look like a scam, and new adopters are venting rage on other forums.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Reaper - Litecoin] Varied hash rates among different 7970s, why? on: April 06, 2013, 06:03:55 PM
Okay - need some help on this anomaly.

First rig - Sapphire 7970 standard edition with Vapor X, used settings suggested in Taco's thread - out of the box 650k/H per second.

Second rig - two (2x) Sapphire 7970 "GHZ Editions", used exact same settings in Taco's thread - out of the box - only about 350 k/H per second.

I have spent the last week in "newbie purgatory" so have been unable to discuss this issue.  Finally on the second rig, I was able to get 500k/H per second/card by putting aggression back to 13, and overclocking the memory to 1680Mhz.

Can anyone tell me WHY do two of the same brand/manufacturer, same model, have such huge variance in performance?

Why would the two "Ghz editions" VASTLY under-perform the standard one?

Does anyone have any suggestions experience with a Sapphire "GHZ Edition" that could explain the variance?  The standard one was plug and play @ 650k.   The better ones have taken a week of tweaking to even reach 500k/H, and NONE of the recommended settings worked.  I know it is not bad cards because they both perform the same - what is different about the "GHZ editions" that is hurting them so much, and made them so finicky?
