Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Novacoin worth Mining?

I'm looking at dustcoin.com right now and It's telling me that with my minimal setup I'll make a little bit more mining Novacoins instead of litecoins. However I haven't read anything good about Novacoins so I was wondering if it was even worth it.

I am currently mining 50btc (and possibly mtred, if it get back up) with a Radeon HD 5850 and getting about 350MH/s. What difficulty should I be using on my miners?

I stopped using GUIminer last night, and switched over to CGminer. However when I came down to my computer this morning after it ran all night halfway through the night the stratum code was disabled or something and none of my shares where going through. I closed CGMiner and tried to reopen it but now I have a new problem, after I put in my pool setting and username the window instantly closes and I have to reopen it.

I recently had been mining from BTC Guild using GUIMiner when I started to read a bit more and realized that both of those are frowned upon. I'm still looking for a different pool right now (was using Mt. Red for a tiny bit but got IP banned for 24 hours just for reseting my password) however I did switch my miner over to CGminer. I know that with other miners and with GUIminer I needed to pick certain flags to get things to run faster. Is there anything I need to do to setup CGminer? What about general setup? (I just downloaded the .zip and plugged in the pool address and my U/P on the first screen, haven't done anything else yet)
Thanks in advance for any help I receive, I look forward to sticking around and mining for a bit!
