https://cointelegraph.com/news/ecb-launches-two-track-dlt-settlement-plan-2026ECB to pilot blockchain-based euro settlement system by 2026 The European Central Bank will launch a blockchain settlement pilot by late 2026 under its new Pontes initiative, aiming to connect DLT platforms with the eurozone’s core payment systems. So can this be it? Contrary to the believe that banks will have nothing to do with cryptocurrency but now with this, we are seeing euro zone taking the lead to introduce more collaboration with blockchain. Banks are already using blockchain to improve security, reduce transaction cost etc but I believe this will further increase the possibility of banks issuing cryptocurrency or hodling for exchange. Again, recently the Euro zone seem to have opened their doors for crypto business as exchanges have been moving in to secure license, OKX, Coinbase, Bybit and Crypto.com have all secured licenses under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. Do you think Europe is now for crypto investment? What's your view... https://cointelegraph.com/news/competition-heats-crypto-exchanges-europe

Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Manchester United, are set to miss out on signing Victor Osimhen as the Nigeria international has agreed a move to Al-Hilal. So will this be a mistake for Victor Osimhen or a regret for Manchester United or Chelsea if they fail to seal this deal with. My own view is that he is still young to start playing for the money. What do you think?

I went through this article and find it interesting and decided to share here to help someone who perhaps having been looking for how to work through the challenges and so, you could be interested on any item on the article. Personally, I find number 3 and 4 interesting. For number 3, it is certain that capital is usually a challenge for start ups and you can look up solution according to the article. For number 4, sometimes we think diversification is a sure way to increase capital and wealth or way forward against inflation. But if we diversify wrongly, we will end up servicing our debt for what we have diversified into. In other words, it is better to cut down on numerous diversification that is not yielding profit and then make a priority from what we have diversified into. I hope we gain alot from this article. 3. Limited Capital to Invest Challenge Another challenge that new investors face is having limited capital available to invest. This is only compounded when specific financial instruments are too expensive.
Solution This challenge can often be solved by looking into fractional shares.
Fractional shares are partial shares of a company’s stock. Rather than holding one or more full shares, you own a fraction of one.
Back then, brokers only allowed total shares to be purchased, and investors ended with fractional shares only after a company split.
However, this is changing as significant brokerage firms make it easier to buy fractional shares directly. This change allows you to specify how much money you want to invest in a company instead of how many shares you want to buy, and you can buy a tiny piece of a share if your financial investment isn’t enough to buy a whole one.
When you purchase a fraction of a share, you’re treated the same as if you had purchased the entire share. You make the same percentage gains and enjoy the same stock ownership privileges. However, you’re also at risk of loss. 4. Too much diversification Challenge Diversification is a strategy where investors buy various assets to reduce the chance of losing out on significant gains while also lowering losses.
Investors diversify their holdings among various companies, industries, countries, and asset classes rather than putting all their money in one company or a small number of assets.
However, if you’ve done too much diversification or done incorrectly, you might not lose much, but you won’t gain much either. You might also take on more risk than you anticipate, or you might pay excessive fees.
Solution The best solution to avoid over-diversification is to keep your portfolio to a manageable level.
For some, this means only keeping their top ten investments, as long as they’re in different industries.
Others avoid over-diversity by reducing their holdings in particular sectors (e.g., volatile materials producers or industrial stocks, or difficult-to-understand sectors like biotechnology stocks) for diversification.

We have been seeing bitcoin price appreciate since Trump cut down on tariff and there have been speculation that exporters, importers or investors alike have found loose profit to push into btc. Also, institutions have started hodling more btc with the US strategic plan that have built trust and go ahead to shaky hands all the while.
So what do you think about the bull going from here, we are on $92+, can we hit 100k anytime?

I appreciate all of us for the way we have carried ourselves and our growth so far on this noble forum. I think there is something missing as part of our struggle and recognition back then (in its own measure). Before we got this local board, there is this thread that was opened and was really helping in the readiness that we can create something on our own and it was bringing different African people to come visit it. That thread is called, African Proverbs in Pidgin Therefore, I want to suggest that this our African Proverbs in Pidgin thread should also be pinned on this thread for more visibility. It is the thread that shows how African system relay salient message without getting novice to understand what you mean directly, conveying metaphorical message, wisdom and meaning beyond its literal interpretation. Like dey say, "the person wey dem talk proverb to wey no fit relate with the meaning of the proverb mean say, the money wey dem take marry de mama na waste". This is deep. Like Chinue Achebe too talk for Things Fall Apart, "proverb be like oil wey we dey take chop yam". Meaning say we can't do without proverb and it also shows how knowledgeable you are with your language. If you hear elders wey sabi language talk, you go understand within I mean. So I believe that this thread is very useful to our identity as Africans and especially Naija culture and tradition. Moderator Sir and guys (old and new), make we help to pin this thread for this board so it will be visible to still dey portray our unique language, tradition and culture.

Zimbabwe has now joined the league of countries trying to make money on gambling through taxing winners. The government has made the tax regime to help support in the budget for the country. Just like countries like US, Germany etc, they have decided to tax on winning/profit and not operation without considering that gambling population is still growing which can be a discouragement. To me it can be a draw back despite that the sporting events is getting patronage there but it is not like the US where gambling is already taken as investment and the gambling profit tax is about about 20% + A new tax will make sports bettor in Zimbabwe feel a little underwhelmed when they see their net winnings. Even worse, the proposed and now enforced 10% tax which is taking effect on January 1, 2025, will be calculated on players’ gross winnings every time they get a wager right. So what do you think about this new tax regime of gambling profit in Zimbabwe! Do you think the gambling population would see it as a fair system or they would evade paying the tax? More importantly, government introduce tax on gambling profit but they don't have repayment package for wager loses hehehe https://www.gamblingnews.com/news/zimbabwe-votes-and-backs-10-tax-on-sports-betting-winnings/

I just dey see this ruling now by the supreme court today... The apex court, in the lead judgment delivered by Justice Mohammed Idris, held that the National Assembly lacked the powers to legislate on issues relating to lottery and games of chance. The court also stated that such powers only reside with the state Houses of Assembly, which possess exclusive jurisdiction over lottery and games of chance. By my own interpretation now with within them dey talk, e mean say no more national lottery parol again and say federal government don comot hand on top lottery matter, now e don enter state hand to organize or regulate on lottery. Although I no sabi the gbege wey make the matter enter court in the first place but wetin we think about this lottery judgement. Me I no kukuma know whether that lottery thing still dey active self. So wetin we see for the matter? And then, does it mean say federal government hand don comot from taxing game companies... https://punchng.com/just-in-supreme-court-nullifies-national-lottery-act/

I was in argument with someone. His view is that people who gamble are those that what they have is not sufficient for them and so they try to make more money from gambling. He said if you have sufficient money to take care of your needs that you won't think of gambling. He made reference to some rich people, who don't gamble because they have sufficient money to even gift to charity but that those rich who still gamble are only addicted to it not just because of the money. Therefore, that the percentage of the rich gambling is very small compared to those in middle class and lower class.
So my question is, is the percentage of the rich gambling lower than the middle and lower class?

Hey guys, reading little story on Kylian Mbappe who on Thursday visited Cameroon on a charity with the deaf and other familiarization visit to his father's home town. He spoke with Joseph Dion Ngute, the Cameroon's Prime Minister, he was honoured visiting and I believe this is just like the humanitarian work some influential people do But one striking revelation was that he would have been a cameroonian player if they weren't asking his father to pay them money before allowing him to play while he still trying to fix his career and French allowed him without payment. "At first, I wanted my son to play for Cameroon, but someone at the Cameroonian Football Federation charged me money that I didn't have to make him play," he explained. " The French charged nothing." I have also heard of some local stories about how some coaches require money from new footballers before they allow them on trier both in their clubs and national teams. Is this happening globally for new players who are still seeking to find a spot in clubs? Do you think Cameroun miss Mbappe or it is Mbappe that missed Cameroun ? https://theafricanhistory.com/2975#:~:text=My%20father

So at the New Global Financing Pact in French, president William Ruto of Kenya was afterwards hosted by Macron (France president), Ruto was asking and suggesting for a global financial transaction regime where the procede would be in the care of a new financial organisation different from IMF, World Bank or any other financial institution but a brand new financial architecture of equals where power and governance is not in the hands of few people. I have miss the video but I'm sure the outcome of the submit is in the public space likewise the videos of them.
My question therefore is, with the call of Ruto, do you think IMF and World Bank as the global financial institutions have not performed very well in Africa economy to support in different ways or why do you think he is making that call ?

I hope say all of us don hear how Tinubu wey dem say na president elect go ph go commission bridge on the invite of governor Nyesom wike of Rivers State. Because of this,Wike declare holiday for Rivers because of person wey dem never sworn in as president, miracle no dey tire us for this country. The thing tire me because shenanigans just dey look for favour up and down to be relevant. Menh....IMO and legally, I think say e dey wrong and abuse on the seat of presidency to see Tinubu dey commission federal project wey President Buhari never hand over. Unto which capacity wey go make Tinubu dey go commission project, this na real lawless country full of nepotism, confraternity, affiliation politics wey everything can go because you belong together. I just dey think say if to say no be the same APC political party wey President Buhari and Tinubu dey, shey him for go do that commissioning of bridge? I'm sure that for cause another catacata if to say no be the same party. Wetin we reason?

Court sentences mother, son to 7 years imprisonment and what did they do? Court sentences mother, son to 7 years imprisonment The mother and the son after gambling away 5.6 million naira, that is about $8,000. When the reality dawned on them, they gave false information in petition, accusing someone of fraudulently transferring the fund from their Opay account to the sport betting account without their authorization. Could this be a case of making someone pay for what they didn't eat or a case of double standard. Bet as you can sustain and not allow your emotions have a better part of you.

This our country don dey become crush oo. The government and CBN never really let us know where we dey go with the naira especially 500 and 1k wey government been announced say don seize to be legal tender. Since 3rd of March wey supreme court don finally rule on the application of the states wey drag government enter court, say the 5h and 1k go still be legal tender until 31st December of this year, the status of those notes still dey cause problem among naija people because some dey refuse to collect them while others dey collect and with condition say you go either buy costly on their own price before them go collect the old 5h or 1k and some self go refuse to give you change. I understand say those states wey carry the matter go court dey use the old and new notes together without ish but some states no be like that and for such state say bank dey dispense old notes but dem no dey gree collect am. Na this confusion make me say either government or CBN need to update Nigerians on the status of the old 5h and 1k.
So how the matter of accepting the old 5h or 1k notes be for your end?

I have experienced some guys who are chronic gamblers making unimaginable predictions from football player's jersey numbers, basket ball, hockey, rugby etc jersey's numbers. I have experienced this and their prediction is only based on these numbers shown on TV sports analysis consistently and regularly. These chronic gamblers feel that when these jersey numbers keep flashing on your TV stations maybe during the sports news, analysing the jersey numbers on different clubs and display of the jersey numbers may be a sign that such number will appear as draw for the week and they do their permutations on that. This is for example what I'm saying with the jersey numbers not about the person but numbers precisely. The pictures are different and analysed differently for the week. Like 7,19 Another week 10,7,17 Another week 10,7,17,10 (probably 10 confirmation of banker for this week) Another week 8,7,8,10 (probably 8 confirmation of banker for this week) Another week 16,15 Another week 10 So this particular guy in Nigeria around 5 years ago followed some Jersey numbers he has been monitoring for the week and according to him 3 of the numbers where consistently and regularly appearing on different TV stations for the week and he concluded some numbers and went to stake them 3/3 in the weekend draws and behold! When the matches were played all turned out draws and this guy cashed out from different pool shops where he did the stakings. It was a big winning story in the area alongside few guys he gave the numbers to try their luck. My question is, have you experienced this kind of gambling with Jersey numbers ? Note: The pictures are just to illustrate my point with the jersey not particular about who was wearing it and I didn't need to link any source because any jersey number will do or can be imagined, at most written with bare hands.

Just recently , the Nigerian ex deputy senator (Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice) were arrested in UK on allegation of organ harvesting. It appears the couple wanted to secure a kidney transplant for the daughter in UK who had been diagnosed of kidney failure. The wife got released while the senator will still be in UK custody till ending of October. The lesson about to be drawn out is that in Nigeria, it is unheard that a local counsellor would be in police custody if you at least belong to the ruling party not to mention a "whole" senator in Nigeria but the UK system works, they have held down different prime ministers to step down for violating their laws. The difference is that the UK system is judiciously following the law and their law respects no human while the Nigerian system is highly selective, in justice it is very partial. The organ harvesting case of senator Ike Ekweremadu would have been a normal in Nigeria because he is a law maker but the law he makes, caught up with him in UK. I still remember the Nigerian government was not able to jail James Onanefe Ibori (Formal Governor of Delta State) for money laundering but the UK system did that perfectly well and he got his term served out. So do you think Senator Ike Ekweremadu would go the way of ex governor James Ibori, being convicted and confined to serve a jail term in UK?

For a long time, I understand and can explain politics by a simple definition as a means of sharing scarce resources and I think this explanation in humility and honesty is not far from what politics is. At every point, you need some constituent that either elect or receive something for a larger or smaller group, this is the light of means of sharing scarce resources amidst dialogue, compromise (including bribery), lobby and other terms to arrive at the point to share, represent or and receive. In other words, some people called politicians (That is the actors of politics) have not done any other tangible or known jobs that is not "politicking". To those actors politics is seen as investment that they do and they stake out money like gambling or trading with the hope to get more in return and they would do anything to ensure that money staked , "invested" does not go without a return. Typical idea of investment.
I don't know if in other countinent of the world whether the above view of politics is same there but this is typical of modern day African politics with Nigeria as an example. The Nigerian political system is saturated with deep pockets politics and money bags parading in corridor of power. This is the reason that a ruling political party president form for indication of interest to run as candidate of the party is sold for #100,000,000, equivalent of $167,000. The form was bought by 23 candidates. I guess you can do the mathematical calculation to know how much that accrues to. Further to it, out of the 23 that bought the form , 10 were screened out of the contest (of course the money is non refundable).
Consequently, 13 candidates were approved for the contest but at the eve of the primaries, the need to step down interest to run arose and there began the intrigues of politics, the bribes, the lobby and promises and cajoling to outsmart some with money in return for form bought and appointments in future. This is the situation of Nigerian politics and the just concluded party primaries heading for the election in 2023.
The question is with these kind of situation of deep pocket politics where people see it as investment to indicate interest in purchase of forms and later stepping down to get an additional benefit like an investment, what do you think ?
