So, since Libra development is halted by the US officials, pretty amazing news for Semux seeing as its decentralized and built on similiar tech
What do you mean? How Libra technology and Semux are related? Libra is going to create stable currency, while Semux is just a coin. And after 2 years still has not good exchanges (
They have similar technology. I am not talking about Libra being based on a basket of stable international reserve currencies.
I am referring to the tech itself. Semux and Libra both have Byzantine-fault tolerant consensus protocols, and also ~100 validators, etc.
It just demonstrates the strength of Semux's tech, since they [Libra + Semux] are both banking on the above blockchain protocol. Think about it, Facebook has genius minds + unfathomable power behind it, and they wanted to launch a 'de facto central bank', which could destabilize the global financial market, taking power away from the US dollar (which would have enormously severe consequences for many sovereign nation-states).
However, Libra is in no way decentralized, even if they claim to be split among all the seed companies like Uber, Paypal, etc.
Semux however, is different again in this regard. It's what makes it so great. Sorry if you don't see it.
